À propos de cet hébergement
The Old Weigh House -Kirkby Lonsdale
Located within the historical market town of Kirkby Lonsdale, The Old Weigh House sits within cobbled lanes, ancient pathways, and poetry-inspiring landscapes.
Tucked away on the edge of the Lake District National Park and just a stone’s throw from the Yorkshire Dales, this Grade II listed home provides the perfect bolthole for anyone looking for the balance between country charm and historical interest.
The Old Weigh House is simple yet refined, with the quiet elegance of carefully chosen décor that lets the surrounding town’s charisma shine through. With the luxury of two private parking spaces, in the heart of a bustling market town, full of boutique shops, cafes and restaurants, this home really is a rare gem.
A warm welcome
Upon entering the home, the open plan living and dining space seamlessly blends modern comforts with minimalist sophistication. Skylights draw the eyes upward, framing the sky and casting soft dappled light throughout the room. Large patio doors add to the room’s brightness and create a dynamic living atmosphere that changes throughout the day; ideal for enjoying the last of the summer’s sunshine or a hearty cooked breakfast around the dining table. Relax on the cosy sofa and sign into your favourite apps on the large smart TV.
In the heart of the home, the spacious family bathroom provides simplicity and practicality, complete with large shower and modern fixtures, with everything you could possibly need to prepare yourself for an action-packed day on the fells, or enjoy a long, relaxing, hot shower accompanied by the delicate fragrance of Bath House toiletries.
Sweet Slumber
The master bedroom is finished to a beautifully high standard and sits on the ground floor.
The bed, with Scandi-inspired wooden headboard and crisp white sheets, sits as the centre piece to this intimate oasis. You may find yourself drawn back again and again to soft pillows and warm blankets. How about a second (or third!) cup of morning coffee?
Shutters frame the window, offering extra privacy as well as an intimate, cosy atmosphere.
Tall, fitted wardrobes seamlessly integrate into the room, providing ample space for stowing away all your adventure gear, or hanging up your favourite items. A sliding door reveals a hidden dressing table and stool, stowed away in the wall to create a convenient and practical location for getting ready for the day.
Each element of this room has been chosen to promote restfulness and comfort to ensure each day begins with ease.
Up the winding stairs into the second bedroom, where the king-size bed can easily be split into two to accommodate children and other guests. This space is gifted with a bird’s eye view of the historic 13th century ‘Swine Market.’ Now home to immaculately renovated stone cottages, this is the perfect location to relax and watch the gentle buzz of town life. As the day turns to evening, golden light spills through the shuttered windows and creates a romantic sanctuary amongst the rooftops. With soft warm tones, the room is simple and calm. A fitted wardrobe, neatly tucked into one corner proves practical storage whilst preserving the room’s open, airy feel. The bed is dressed in fresh white bedding with a luxurious headboard, made with early nights and lazy mornings, in mind.
Cooking up a storm
The heart of the home, the kitchen presents an intimate space for creating culinary masterpieces with views out across the courtyard. Flowing seamlessly from the living and dining area, you’ll find the ideal layout for food preparation and casual dining, complete with modern appliances and plenty of counter space. With all modern conveniences including integrated Neff oven and microwave, Nespresso coffee machine and dishwasher, you might be tempted to resist the local artisans in favour of a home cooked meal!
The courtyard to the property’s side provides ample space for two cars along with a stunning elongated seating area that reveals views of fields and fell tops beyond. Relax with a glass of wine and enjoy the sunset over the rooftops, or enjoy family time in the cosy little yard, perfect for alfresco diners or drying off after a dip in the local river.
If you are looking for a holiday that combines all the luxury and ease of a hotel retreat, with the practicality and convenience of a cottage escape then look no further than The Old Weigh House. Situated in one of Cumbria’s most historic market towns, with an idyllic position just minutes from the River Lune. Stroll along the riverbanks that once inspired John Ruskin, or visit iconic landmarks such as Devils Bridge, a place of local legend. With easy access to two National Parks, and incredible local amenities, you may find yourself returning again and again!
