The Big Cosy at Nottingham is a space you will not have experienced before - it is the world`s first house to have been psychologically and scientifically designed to be ultra-calming for the mind.
We`ve ensured the interior looks uncluttered, comfortable, and welcoming, and it is, but it`s all about how it feels when you step inside - a gentle feeling of mental peace, cosy relaxation, and calming comfort.
Using all of our know-how, we have blended specific colours, fabrics, lighting, spacing, art, plants, and a bunch of other things in a very specific way so that when you step into The Big Cosy, your mind can take a break. It`s not just about adding things in, it`s also about taking things out that the mind finds stressful, such as buzzing electrics and strong odours.
The house looks just as good as the next one, but it`s anything but ordinary. It met a 141 checklist to be classed as `sensory-underloaded` (chilled out).
While it`s a great place for everyone, it is really beneficial for anyone who is autistic, ADHD, dyspraxic, dyslexic, dysgraphic, dyscalculic, ocd and the other range of fabulous neurological conditions who process masses of information and needs some mental downtime - so that`s 1 in 7 of us!
If you are looking for a house that has lots of space but discrete rooms to cosy up in, where you`re not going to have to fight for the bathroom, where you can just shut the front door and enjoy the quiet and calm in a modern environment, then we absolutely cannot wait for you to stay with us.

The house is detached and sits at the entrance end of a cul-de-sac.
The Big Cosy has parking on the driveway for two cars. A lamppost sits at the front of the driveway and off to one side and provides helpful lighting, meaning one car can enter/exit the driveway at a time.
There is free on-street parking immediately outside the house and plenty around the cul de sac. Please be mindful of our disabled neighbours in the cul-de-sac who need car access to their driveways at all times.
To the side of the house and across the road, you can hire e-bikes—a fantastic, sustainable way to visit town or explore Nottingham city!
Guests staying at The Big Cosy are close to multiple accessible public transport options.
(NET Trams: Fully accessible with low-floor designs and dedicated spaces. NCT Buses: Equipped for wheelchairs and certain mobility scooters, with trained drivers to assist. Easylink Service: Offers personalized, door-to-door transport for those needing additional support.)
Nottingham has a great tram network. Our local tram stop is just a 3-minute walk and connects to Nottingham train station. The tram service operates a `turn up and go` service, with trams from every 7 minutes during the week (every 3 minutes within the City Centre) and from every 10 minutes at weekends and bank holidays. Displays at every stop will let you know when the next tram will arrive.
On arrival there is an illuminated key safe where you can access the keys to the property. The code will be emailed to you before check-in.

For all beds we provide hypoallergenic duvets, pillows, and mattress protectors for a comfortable sleep and there are 3kg weighted blankets available in every bedroom for a snugglier sleep. A travel cot and high chair are available upon request.
Our cleaning fee covers your departure clean and weekly cleans for stays over 7 nights. You’ll always check into a clean home and don’t have to clean before you leave.
Full emergency lighting in place, and all internal doors to bedrooms and living room are fire doors (so they are heavier than normal doors to keep you safe).
We do supply toiletries, shower gel/shampoo/conditioner.

Beautiful property.
This house is terrific. It is immaculately clean, and pre-stocked with basics for tea and coffee, along with a few cooking essentials no doubt left by other renters (always a plus).It was great to have a small yard to hang up the laundry and hang out in.Communication with the host was clear and easy.The lighting options are a lot of fun!

Excellent property - would highly recommend
This is an excellent property with all possible facilities you would want. The living area has a beautiful vibe and is a lovely place to hang out, especially as a bigger group. All the bedrooms are beautifully appointed, especially with three en suites. The communication was exceptional, and the owners were so flexible and kind to accommodate our needs. We would highly recommend this property.

Lovely well equipped home from home
The house was clean, spacious and really well equipped. I was worried about cooking Easter Sunday dinner for 10 people away from home but absolutely didn’t need to! We had everything we needed.
Communication was excellent, as were the thoughtful touches (we had our 2 neurodivergent foster children with us and they loved the weighted blankets!).
