The Location
Portland itself is characterised by its rugged cliffs, breath-taking coastal views, and rich history. Historically, it has been a centre for stone quarrying, particularly of Portland limestone, which has been used in the construction of many iconic buildings throughout the UK, including St. Paul's Cathedral and the Tower of London.
In addition to its natural beauty and historical significance, Portland is a popular destination for outdoor activities such as rock climbing, hiking, and sailing.
Overall, Portland in Dorset offers a unique blend of natural beauty, history, and outdoor adventure, making it a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the stunning landscapes of the Jurassic Coast.
