A fabulous Grade II listed converted 14th Century pub. Child and pet friendly
Step back several centuries with all the character and historical features of a 14th Century pub, but with the addition of a modern kitchen and en suite bathrooms for every one of the 6 bedrooms. There is an extra bedroom and bathroom. Comfortably accommodating up to 16 people, it is the perfect place for the gathering of family or friends for that special occasion. The lovely enclosed garden is perfect for outside eating, and keeping children and dogs safe. Close to the extraordinary landscape of Romney Marsh, and the extensive sandy beach of Camber Sands, it is fabulous for walking, swimming and bird watching . There are numerous other activities for adults and children alike.
We had a fabulous time! All the rooms have an ensuite bathroom which was great for us. The whole property is lovely and full of character. There were loads of useful bits and pieces in the kitchen and a lovely welcome basket that included wine and a big box of biscuits. Also a great selection of board games and jigsaws. We had a lovely few hours at Camber Sands which was a short drive away and had a fantastic sandy beach. Would 100% recommend staying here!
Although an old pub this is an excellent place for friends and family to stay for a celebration or to explore the surrounding area. Very clean and a great kitchen, Bedrooms vary but all comfortable. Overall very good.
We had such an amazing weekend at the house. Beautiful garden, plenty of space, and full kitchen. The host was very communicative and flexible - recommend for any large group gatherings!
Our host Mary, answered all questions quickly, giving full information in a message and also had a full guide to the house and area at the property. Mary on all occasions was very welcoming. The property is superb, spacious, comfortable, homely, with everything that we needed and more. We highly recommend this lovely house. Our only regret is that we could not stay longer. We have given this property and its amenities 5 stars. On the last page of the feedback form there is a question that does not apply to this property âhow do you rate the National Park Experience â there was not a National Park. We were unable to submit the feedback form without scoring the question. We have therefore given the question a 5 score , as if we gave a low score ( as it did not apply) it might affect the score of 5 for the property.
Beautiful and Unique stay with excellent facilities.
The house was one of the most unique buildings I've stayed in and this really added to enjoyment of our experience. The host was great at communicating and answering all of our questions before the stay. We were also pleasantly surprised to find a welcome gift on our arrival. The guest book had plenty of information on things to do and places to eat. Highly recommend this place if you're a big group looking for a place to stay in the Southeast
We loved the huge and interesting house and garden It was better equipped than any other house we had stayed in - especially the kitchen. Parking arrangements are good. The village has a choice of food shops within walking distance. The sea is close. We would have liked the house to have been warmed up and aired a little before our arrival but thatâs a small grumble. We really enjoyed our stay there - it worked very well for us. We could be both together and separate !
Amazing unique house, great base for quality time with family and friends
We booked Mary's wonderful house for a weekend away in December for a catch up with old friends (12 of us in total). We had an amazing time and really recommend the house. It has lots of character from being an old pub called The Star and the rooms were really comfy with almost all of them having their own ensuite bathroom. The kitchen is well equipped and spacious for cooking even for 12 people and we loved the fireplace and piano in the main living room.
We didn't get out much due to storms over the weekend but the location has good access to Dungeness, Rye, Camber Sands etc. There are nearby shops and pubs in walking distance.
Communication was great - Mary was really helpful sending us all the info we needed in advance and Denise was really helpful with our check in and check out and even kindly popped round on our first evening to check we were ok and had everything we needed. The welcome basket was a lovely touch. Thanks so much!
The summary of the house was spot on. Good location for what we needed which was between Sussex and Kent. We had a nice day out visiting the Old lighthouse (the sun was out which helped). Trip to the local pub which had a pool table and a Chinese takeaway which is literally a street away. Would have been 5 out of 5 except for an issue with the WiFi. Not one of the 10 adults there could log on, the on-site contact did try to help but with no luck. It's a beautiful quirky property which suited us but there were a couple of areas that could use a deeper clean. Didn't bother us and all of the positives outweigh a couple of cobwebs!
