Neighborhood
Located in zone 4 of London, historic Richmond is a wonderful mix of town and country, here, a rural feel prevails, however in reality you can be in central London in no time . It's a very family friendly area with numerous green spaces to walk and relax including Richmond Green and the Thames Path.
Beautiful Kew Gardens is nearby, as is Richmond Park, London's largest royal park, has 2,500 acres of grassland, ancient woodland and wide open space, home to lush greenery and herds of deer. Take a walk down the River Thames path (including boat trips) and Putney Common.
There are a great selection of independent cafes, shops and restaurants in Richmond and Barnes. Highlights include Petersham Nurseries and Black Salt, The Victoria and The Plough pubs.
For fans of art and culture, Richmond Theatre; The Orange Tree Theatre, OSO Arts Centre and Olympic Studios in Barnes are nearby. Hampton Court Palace and Syon House are also a 20 min drive away.
For Kids activities, Barnes Wetlands Centre and local playgrounds such as Sheen Common playground (in woods), Tangier Green playground, Mortlake Green playground, Crafts and Play on Upper Richmond Road are great places to visit! Snakes and Ladders softplay at Syon House is also a local favourite.
Wander through the High Street and the Lanes to find charming shops and all the amenities you could need.
For rugby fans, nearby Twickenham stadium is within easy reach by car or South Western Railway.
Transit
Transport links - Train to central London (Waterloo) from North Sheen (15 min walk), Mortlake (15 min walk) and Richmond (25 min walk) stations. Underground tube from Richmond (District line) to central London. Bus links to Putney, Clapham, Richmond, Chiswick.
Richmond tube station is at the end of the District Line and can take you to tourist spots such as Earls Court in just 25 minutes. Frequent trains run from Richmond station to Waterloo taking as little as 15 minutes, trains stop at Clapham Junction too, taking just 9 minutes, where you can then change for Victoria.
