Welcome to our cosy seaside house, a colourful, cheery space. After enjoying exploring Margate Old Town, beach walks or a lovely lunch...come back to Blue Shells & relax in a calming space. Our guests love our super comfy beds, cleanliness and great hosting!
Recently renovated with a cute kitchen, garden, comfy lounge, kingsize & two single beds. We have a dishwasher/washer/dryer & coffee machine plus a bath & shower over.
Perfect for a family / two couples/friendship group.
Blue Shells Cottage is our own holiday home which we've put our heart & soul into renovating to create a lovely comfortable home from home for our family as well as our guests.
As you walk through the front door you'll be greeted with a seaside retreat, lots of blue & pink decor to create a calm, restful feel.
*Lounge/Diner*
Comfortable seating with plenty of cushions and throws, two sofas and a curved stool which can be used to prop your feet on out sit down on. The TV is a Smart TV and you can log onto your various apps/TV streaming services such as Netflix.
The dining table sits 4 people and perfect for a meal or a board game. In the sideboard next to the table you'll find plates and bowls, plus cookery books and board games for your use.
*Kitchen*
The compact kitchen is surprisingly spacious, lots of work surface and cleverly laid out. Full size fridge (with a small freezer), full size oven, 4 ring hob, compact dishwasher + a washer/dryer. We've really enjoyed pulling the kitchen together and making the most of the space. Perfect space for cooking a meal or rustling up a sandwich.
*Garden*
A lovely quiet little haven after the hustle and bustle of Margate & Cliftonville. The high fencing provides a private space, with sunny and shady spots, fully decked and we have garden seating for 4. On a summer's evening we just love sitting out here with a glass of wine and breathing in the sea air.
*Bathroom*
Full size slipper bath, with a rainfall shower and a second shower head. Small sink and toilet. The lovely pink tiles make this space feel warm and happy.
*Master Bedroom*
We love our French ornate bed - it inspired much of the rooms interiors plus it's king-size and has a super comfy mattress. The room centres around the gorgeous bed, with lots and lots of sunshine beaming into the room, it's a good size room with loads of natural light. There is a chest of drawers and plenty of hanging space + shelving.
*Twin Bedroom*
Two beds, separate space between them. A lovely room with hanging space and small draws. The beds are full size single beds, with Laura Ashley bed frames - which are very strong and sturdy. This room works for two children, two teenagers or two adults.
Full access to house and the very private garden.
We look after the property ourselves & available on AIRBNB for messaging or a short drive away if needed for an emergency. We are professional hosts & run Key Retreats Limited, looking after a number of beautiful properties in East Kent.
Located on a quiet residential road, it is a one way road so not much passing traffic. You can usually get a parking space on the road.
The street is an eclectic mix of young professionals, retired couples and families. On a Sunday afternoon you'll come across children riding bikes in the street, running out for the ice cream van and families chatting in the street. It's all very old fashioned and typical of Cliftonville's mix of different groups.
We are two minutes walk from Shell Grotto, the famous Scott's Reclamation Store is at the end of our road. Northdown Road with convenience stores, coffee shops, cafes and antiques/refurb furniture is only a 2-3 minute walk. There is an Aldi 10 minutes walk from the property.
You can reach the beach within 5-10 minutes walk, a minute from the Ubur cool Cliftonville centre (Northdown Rd) and Margate town takes about 10 minutes stroll.
Margate is buzzing, we have so much happening in our town. From concerts at Dreamland, The Turner Gallery, The Old Town, fabulous restaurants, bars, music venues and cafes popping up all over the place. The art scene is really strong, inspired by Tracey Eminen, you can spend hours looking around the many art shops and galleries located around Margate.
Cliftonville is officially the coolest neighbourhood to live (TimeOut) and you reach this area within about a 10 minutes stroll. Here you'll find Uber cool cafes, a treasure trove of reclamation shops, furniture shops and Aldi!
If you need to pop out for supplies, Northdown Rd - there you'll find shops/chemists/bakers/butchers etc.
Oh and the beach, Margate Main Sands - 10 minutes walk. Just as easy to get to are the many other beaches dotted along the coastline. Look up Louisa Bay, much quieter in peak season and beautiful.
There is parking on our road and it is free, if busy you can also park on surrounding roads which are also free.
The bus runs along Northdown Road and you can jump on this and it will take you straight into Ramsgate or Broadstairs. Margate Old Town is easily walkable from the house, about 10 minutes & the famous NorthDown Rd with lots of groovy shops and cafes is literally 1-2 minutes from the house.
Margate mainline railway station is approx 2 miles from the property, with the fast speed line taking about 90 minutes into St Pancras.
Plenty of local taxi firms, with one just 2 minutes walk from the property.
Dogs welcome (maximum of 1 per booking, small to medium breeds only). Please let us know when booking.
PETS
We welcome your dog/s at an additional minimum fee of ÂŁ20 to cover extra cleaning. Please ensure the pets box is ticked when selecting the number of guests, and message me in advance with the details of your pet (type/breed/age).
Please kindly consider my house rules if you bring your dog/s.
- Dogs must be well behaved and house trained.
- Dogs must be strictly kept off the soft furnishings.
- Any fouling on premises must be cleared up without delay.
- Muddy paws should be cleaned before allowed in the house.
- Dogs must NOT be left alone in the property.
- Please, please respect our neighbours in this quiet residential street. We ask that you do not make excessive noise in or around the house, especially after 11pm. No parties or loud music are allowed.
- We kindly ask guests to respect the environment and the objects inside the house, and to leave everything as was found.
- Please do not use candles or smoke in the house.
If you are bringing your dog please could you ensure they are kept off furniture, arenât left alone in the house, and clear up/wash down any doggy waste from the garden. Please donât let your dog upstairs.
