Region: From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain’s best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.
Town: Dalbeattie, in the southwest corner of Scotland, is a lovely rural community. The town is nestled in a wooded valley on the banks of the River Urr and serves as a gateway to the stunning Solway Coast and its kilometres of sandy beaches and quaint fishing settlements. Historically, Dalbeattie was recognised for the granite it supplied to construction projects around the world, including the Eddystone Lighthouse and the Thames Embankment. Forest treks in Glentrool, where you may retrace the steps of Richard Hannay from The Thirty-Nine Steps, and the neighbouring world-famous 7stanes mountain bike complex have made it a popular destination for those seeking adventure. Views of the Solway Firth, the Lake District, and the Galloway Hills may be seen from Dalbeattie and the surrounding area. Superb setting, with a wide variety of attractions to suit any taste.
