A fantastic cottage in an amazing situation with stunning views in every direction - the Solway coast with the mountains of the Lake District to the south and lovely rural views to the north. A 5 minute walk to Powillimount Beach. Three double bedrooms all with their own ensuite bathroom, a large open plan living area, a separate utility room and a small conservatory looking out over the enclosed garden, the perfect spot for a BBQ and a sundowner. This is a semi detached, traditional stone built cottage set on it's own just above the beach. It was fully renovated in 2021, making warm and cosy with all mod cons, ideal for any time of the year. There is lots to see and do nearby and lovely walks straight from the door.
This cottage forms part of the Arbigland Estate which has been in our family for nearly 200 years. For the last 80 years Arthur (he used to be the gardener) lived in the cottage - he was born there and stayed there until he had a stroke during covid and had to be moved into a home in Dumfries. We have totally renovated the cottage and made it into a very comfortable 3 bedroom cottage with each bedroom having its own ensuite bathroom. It can be taken with the neighbouring cottage (Powillimount Cottage) and then becomes 'Beachcombers' allowing up to 12 people to stay here with 6 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, a large dining room seating 12 and separate sitting room. Arthur's Cottage on its own sleeps 6.
I imagine my ancestors bought the Arbigland Estate because of it's stunning position along the Solway Coast, it's fertile land and warm micro climate. This really is the most beautiful part of the southwest Scotland
We renovated Arthur's Cottage earlier this year (2021) so it is very comfortable, clean and well thought out. It is the ideal holiday cottage with all mod cons in the most fabulous seaside location but maintaining it's charm and uniqueness. Lovely, long, low windows allowing you to fully appreciate the stunning views. The large open plan living area has a double aspect so views in both directions.
