This is an old fisherman’s cottage and as you’d expect from historic cottages, some ceilings and doorways are quite low, so taller guests may need to mind their heads. The bathroom is downstairs, while the comfortable bedroom is upstairs.
Cut off form the mainland twice a day the holy island of Lindisfarne provides visitors with complete tranquility. The grade II listed Fishermans cottage is ideally placed to enjoy this unique location.
There is a book library in both properties with information about the local area.
Holy island is and excellent walking an birdwatching destination. It is especially rich in flora and fauna and is part of a marine nature reserve. Highlights include, unique flowers, countless seals, and wading birds.
The island is dominated by the 16th century Lindisfarne Castle, standing dramatically on a rocky outcrop. This island is also home to the ruins of Lindisfarne Priory, the 7th century seat of Christian learning and is where the Lindisfarne Gospels were created.
The causeway closes twice a day at high tide, please consult local tides times when crossing. You are perfectly placed to explore Northumberland’s highlights, including Bamburgh Castle, boat trips from Seahouses to the Farne Islands, Alnwick, Berwick-upon-Tweed and many beautiful coastal walks.
The cottage offers contemporary comfort yet retains its original charm and character. Its is within walking distance of the harbour and sandy beaches. The property is designed for couples, but offers a comfortable stowaway Z bed. This can be put up in the living room or in the bedroom but space is tight.
Though each property is completely self contained, a lockable interconnecting door allows both cottages to be booked by a single family of group. (Maximum sleeps 4 +2). Note: Haven Cottage and Lee Cottage can be interconnected to sleep 4+2.. Both properties: Electric heaters, electricity, bed linen and Wi-Fi included. Both E4342 Haven Cottage and E4343 Lee Cottage are attached with a connecting door, so they can be rented out together. Use of shared bbq. As both cottages are 3 miles from the mainland, the electric may cut out. There is gas lighting and a gas cooker for use in emergencies only.
