Enjoy stunning views downstream of the old stone bridge, along the garden & valley, from the upstairs lounge. It’s a topsy-turvy cottage with bedrooms on the ground floor. The double bedroom has the stream flowing below the bedroom window, if you’re lucky you might hear otters! It’s perfect for wildlife & bird watching on the river. Enjoy dining on the patio by a potted herb & flower garden – there’s a BBQ & a picnic table. Wildflowers cover the wall & there are plenty of herbs to use.
Light & sunny, a former granary next to the stream with exposed beams & a log-burner, sleeps 5+cot.
Watermill Cottages lies three miles inland from Slapton village on the South Devon coast, between Kingsbridge and Dartmouth in The South Hams AONB.
We are just 10 minutes’ drive from the long beaches of Slapton Sands in Start Bay, dog-friendly all year, with many more beaches in easy driving range. Slapton and Strete are the closest villages, each with a good village shop. Strete has The King’s Arms village-owned pub, dog-friendly with great sea views from the garden and a kids’ play area. It’s a forty minute walk from Watermill Cottages on green lanes and fields with amazing scenery. Slapton has two dog-friendly, welcoming pubs which offer food: The Queen’s Arms with a west-facing beer garden and The Tower Inn with walled garden.
We have plenty of parking on site. Dogs are £25 per dog per stay. Please keep dogs under close control around the cottage grounds as we have free-range poultry and there is livestock in the area.
Watermill Cottages is perfect for getting away from it all. Feel real peace here in a tranquil valley almost untouched by the modern world. A sustainable holiday too – a water turbine generates electricity using the old mill leat and there’s free electric car charging for guests. It’s tranquil here – TV or mobile signals don’t reach the valley, so you can enjoy a real-life 24-hour nature channel with a soundtrack of birdsong and the splashing stream – real peace and quiet! Each cottage has a radio, plenty of books, jigsaws and games, an info folder with walks, beaches and where to eat. The office in the courtyard has a games cupboard with a good supply of games for all ages. There is no WIFI (although is now available upon request) a real digital detox… The office has a landline for emergencies.
