This was our fourth stay at this lovely place! Both the cottage and the lake are so quiet! The cottage is cozy and well cared for. The location is great too. Mary is always helpful and wonderful to work with. Hope to vacation there again next year.
Another Wonderful Visit to Youngâs Point Cottage!
We love everything about this cottage and could stay all summer here! The water was perfect for swimming and we enjoyed the frogs, fireflies, fish, and of course the cry of the loons! Thank you Mary & Logan for another memorable week in Maine!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this classic lakeside cabin. Like others, we spent all of our time on the porch! The house was well stocked and owner was very responsive. The lake was beautiful and clear, perfect for swimming, kayaking, and relaxing next to!
We had an amazing time. The camp is beautiful. Cozy and gorgeous. Kids swam in the pond everyday. Close to coast for easy day trips. Mary was an amazing host. Hard to leave.
This rental was beyond amazing! I had a wide range of ages staying there with me (5+). We were all busy fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming, bike riding and watching the loons and eagles from the front porch all week. We never had to leave. It was so relaxing. I would definitely book this rental again.
Great cottage, awesome views, super fishing! Mary and Logan thought of everything. What a wonderful screened porch. I can't wait to make my way back to that house! It was definitely worth the 9 hour drive. The wildlife was constantly surprising me. I loved the eagle and loons. Thanks for a great place to stay and for a well stocked home, much more than other places I have stayed.
Nice house on beautiful lake - Great spot for summer vacation!
We had a wonderful time on our recent summer vacation at Togus Pond. The house is much more spacious than the pictures indicate. Comfortable living room and beautiful screened porch overlooking the lake. Lake was great for swimming and boating - quiet and with a bunch of resident loons. The location was excellent - only 10 minutes from Augusta but quiet and peaceful. Mary was an absolute pleasure to work with. She responded to questions quickly and completely addressed any concerns we had. Overall, her customer service was superlative.
Our week of relaxation at Young's Cottage on Togus Pond
Young's Cottage on Togus Pond has been a special getaway for my Friend Nancy, our dogs and me. My second visit and Nancy's first. All the amenities of home and more...like the screened in porch! That porch is feet away from the water. We had loons every day and evening come by to welcome us. One word for Mary and Logan's Cottage is "Serene". We spent most of our time on the Porch. We always had our morning coffee outside in the morning air. There are two smaller beds on the porch that you can take an afternoon nap if you need. My friend loved the porch so much she slept on it for most of our nights."Just like camping outside without the bugs! Thank you Mary & Logan for sharing your cottage with us. A little peace of Heaven. Wonderful Memories we will always Treasure!
Be well and stay safe. Nancy, Rizzo, Linda and Bentley.
My Short Getaway to Young's Point Cottage on Tugus Pond
Loved the cottage. To me it was more than a cottage. Plenty of room to spread out. Very warm and inviting to just sit and relax which is hard for me. Always on the go! Loved the screened in porch over looking the pond. I got up early on my last morning to see the sun rise...wow! Seeing the sun come up over the pond was so serene. Loons swimming by sang their song. Mary and Logan's cottage sits on a large piece of wooded property along the pond with no houses on top of you. Space to breathe. So peaceful and quiet. Wonderful neighboorhood with respectful folks. The cottage was well supplied so if you forgot something, it mostly would be there for your use. Mary and Logan thought of just about everything. All I had to do was bring my food for me and my dog and his doggy bed. Very comfy bed and plenty of extra blankets for snuggling up with on a chilly night. Wonderful hosts. Highly recommend (5 stars) and I will stay again in the near future. Thank you Mary and Logan. Linda and pup Bentley from southern Maine.
This was a wonderful cottage to stay in with our family. We enjoyed sipping coffee while watching the sun rise over the lake, and playing croquet with the kids outside using the set in the sun room. There are even concrete steps into the lake from the property, which is a nice plus given the rocks around the lake. The area is super quiet with surprisingly few bugs given proximity to forest and lake. WiFi works great and the LTE service available is US Cellular.
Plenty of parking, I imagine you might even be able to fit 4 vehicles.
Some caveats for the traveler:
1) The laundry is downstairs, and there is no railing, so be careful while carrying your buckets down to it. The washer and dryer set appear brand new and they worked great.
2) Check the kitchen before doing a food run to ensure you have what you would need to prepare.
3) The thing that looks like a microwave is a mini-oven :)
4) Power outlet placement, type, and quantity are reflective of the time period when the cottage was built, so if you have tons of gadgetry to hook up, be prepared to bring extensions, power strips, etc.
5) If you're confused why there appears to be no window covering on some windows, check for a rollup blind, as it might be hiding in the valance. :)
We wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone looking for a clean, comfortable and quiet retreat for the family! I look forward to coming back in the wintertime to try the fireplace, but I'll be using a 4WD as the road its on is dirt. :)
This was our third stay at Togus Pond (our second this year). We felt like we had the pond to yourselves, it was so quiet. The cottage is very clean and well stocked. Mary, the owner, is always helpful. Wish we could stay again!
This cottage has everything that you need for a relaxing and peaceful vacation by a nice and quiet small lake. Mary has stocked the cottage incredibly well, with more than one would need to provide as a vrbo rental, including many kitchen items. The window aircon was much appreciate for the 2 weeks that we were there given it was in the nineties. The porch as others have said is where you will spend 90% of your time when in the house, the other rooms are good, but the porch is huge and overlooks the lake. As with all older cottages, it has its quirks, such as mainly older 2 pronged outlets, but Mary provides extension cords and adapters to make it work. The yard is open to the lake, and no neighbors on either side make it a quiet location. Definitely recommend
Great location and right on the water. There is no TV so if thatâs important to you, bring some tech. WiFi was great and reliable. We really enjoyed the screened porch - such a relaxing setting. Also appreciate that the cottage was dog friendly. I love being able to bring my dogs along.
Great place to stay whether you are looking for a home base while you explore the many wonders of Maine or want a quiet lakeside retreat. The screened porch is fabulous! If you head north on Route 3, be sure to try John's Ice Cream Factory in Liberty.
This was our second year at the cottage on Togus Pond. We loved it every bit as much as the first time. It's super clean, has everything you need, and the owner, Mary, is great!
Wish we were there right now!
When we first got to the cabin, we dropped our bags and groceries on the porch and walked right out to the pond to take in the sunset. Muted pinks and sapphires of the sky reflected in the calm water. Birds and bugs of all shapes and sizes swooped down and back up into the trees. By nightfall, we were enjoying our dinner (local fiddleheads & scallops) on the covered porch and listening to the loons. Logan & Maryâs place is a gem in the woods - both inside and outside the cabin doors. We love the creaking wooden floors, the sweeping staircase, the vintage sink, birdsâs nest outside the kitchen doors, cozy upstairs bedrooms with views of the pond... This cabin has been lovingly preserved with a mix of old world and modern conveniences - think brick fireplace, wood paneled ceilings along with a dishwasher and well-stocked kitchen. We loved exploring the woods and marshes all day and coming home to a shower and clean linens.
Thank you for our week in Maine!
Lovely, quiet, picturesque. Felt very comfortable, safe and cozy in this house. It had everything we needed for a great week of relaxation. Truly a lake cottage experienceâwe will return as soon as we can get away again!
Old school lake house with great views, quiet, fire pit, nice porch. What more do you need? Kind and responsive owners as well. Loved my stay, will return.
Our stay was absolutely lovely! The cabin was so charming and cozy. Cleanliness was fantastic, check-in was easy, and we were provided with all the amenities we could ask for. I would absolutely book this cabin again next year!
I would recommend this place to anyone! Such a lovely place for a vacation! Our expectations were exceeded when we got there. What a beautiful view right from the house! Had such a great relaxing time and we will definitely be going back!!
Logan and Mary are a physician and a school office administrator, respectively, parents of three children, who live in Freeport, Maine, but love to visit our camp on Young's Point.
This is a family home, built by Logan's great-great-grandfather on land that's been in our family since the late 1800s. It was insulated and winterized in the late 1980s, with a drilled well installed in 1992 and a new septic system in 1999; the furnace, which provides hot water as well as heat, was replaced in 2019. The location is private, with no immediate neighbors, on a well-maintained gravel road.
Augusta is Maine's state capital, with local attractions such as historic Fort Western and the Maine State Museum, both ideal for kids and history buffs. The Maine coast, including Portland, is about an hour away. This spot on Togus Pond is an ideal starting point for day trips to many different places in Maine, as well as a great spot to spend a relaxing day.
