Country Hideaways | Forge Cottage | Masham

Forge Cottage is a lovely, spacious property for two and can be found tucked away along a wynd between Masham market place and Park Street. A flagged patio path, with bistro furniture to enjoy sunny afternoons, leads from the wynd to the entrance which opens into a stylish modern kitchen with a central dining table. The kitchen is open plan and forms an L shape with the adjacent lounge which is centred on an inglenook fireplace with wood-burning stove, making it a cosy place to sit during the cooler months, and has a lofted ceiling with exposed beams open to the rafters. Off the lounge is a large bathroom with separate shower cubicle, washbasin and toilet.

A staircase rises from the kitchen to a comfy double bedroom with king size bed and en-suite shower, washbasin and toilet. The bedroom also has a beautiful, lofted ceiling with exposed beams and two roof windows which give a beautiful down-light in the daytime and a view of the moon and stars at night. The pointed stonework of the bedroom walls, external bathroom walls and the high-level gable walls in the lounge have been left exposed but have been painted. This gives a beautiful texture forming mosaics and shadow tones and patterns with the changing light during the day.

Forge cottage is a stylish conversion with all the conveniences of modern life to hand. This trendy cottage for two is only a moments walk from the market place where there are pubs, cafes, shops, galleries and nearby riverside walks. Masham is an ideal centre for journeying to York, Harrogate, Ripon and Nidderdale and of course it is one of the gateway towns to the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

A wonderful cottage in a great location.

A great cottage, very comfortable. We didn't want to leave. The location is perfect for visiting the surrounding area. We will be visiting Masham again (the third time for us, but first staying in this cottage), hopefully the cottage will be available when we visit again.

A superb cottage in a central location

A high quality cottage in a good location in Masham. Furnishings and fittings were all very good and in a very friendly little town where after 1 week there was hard to leave. WiFi very good.

A fabulous cottage for two right in the heart of Masham. The cottage is very spacious and well equipped, including a very effective log burner. There are several shops, including a bakery and several pub/restaurants all within a short walk. Masham is a short drive into the Dales or across to Sutton Bank and the Moors. Easy day trips to Ripon and Thirsk, to visit the James Herriot museum.

Tardis Cottage

I have stayed at Forge Cottage in Masham many times. The cottage is 5 stars !. The location in the centre of town is convenient for all the shops and cafes etc. Masham is now a very popular location on the edge of the dales, and provides endless walks along the river and in the wonderful countryside.

A return to Masham

This is our4th successive visit to Masham and we weren't disappointed. Great central location, well equipped comfortable cottage. This is a great area from which to explore Yorkshire. Good restaurants including one Michelin guide eatery in Silver Street.Good pubs and great beers from local breweries. A vist to the horse racing yards is a must. Contact Hayley from Middelham Racing Tours for a great day out..... lovely community and great town hall . ..

Perfect accommodation in every way… Location perfect… Plenty of parking in the square… Masham is beautiful, plenty of places to wine and dine…. Wouldn’t hesitate to return to Masham and I would certainly stay at Forge Cottage again….

Super Cottage

Forge Cottage was a perfect location for us - just off the market square with all the shops you need within easy walking distance as well as several pubs, 2 breweries, a Michelin restaurant, a lovely church and walks from the cottage front door. The cottage is well appointed, nice furnishings and very quiet.- the log burner was very welcome in the cold evenings.

Fantastic cottage!

Lovely cottage tucked away in the centre of Masham, spotlessly clean and very well equipped with everything you need for a lovely holiday. There is no parking outside the property, but we had no issues with parking in the Market Square. Shirley and David were very hospitable and have thought of everything, maps, walking books and laminated routes! Highly recommend a trip to the Black Bull in Paradise to sample the Theakstons ale there, and the food at the White Bear is lovely too.

What a gem

Charming and secluded, yet central. Great pubs and food in walking distance of the cottage. Immaculately clean, quality furnishings, very comfy bed and best quality bedding . Great location for the dales. The log burner was a delight. Highly recommended.

One of the best cottages I have ever stayed in.

I can’t praise or recommend Forge Cottage highly enough. Lovely mix of old cottage with highest quality modern furnishings and fittings. Quiet but very central location in Masham. Another “hit” for Country Hideaways.
