Cragside Cottage - a cottage that sleeps 7 guests in 4 bedrooms

A sympathetic barn conversion, with open roof beams and part exposed stonework, Cragside Cottage offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside from a well-maintained quiet courtyard setting.

Sleeping accommodation (Up to 7 persons) is all on the ground floor, and comprises three double-bedded rooms (one king size) and one small single bedroom. Also on the ground floor is a bathroom (with bath) and washing machine.

The 1st floor is made up of a large, open plan lounge and dining room, with a modern, fully equipped kitchen. The lounge includes comfortable seating and a wall-mounted Smart TV. The first floor includes a shower room and toilet. Externally the cottage offers a small patio area which can be used by guests.

The cottage is extremely well situated for guests looking to explore the Lake District with fantastic walks from the doorstep and easy access to areas such as Penrith, Ullswater and Keswick for a wealth of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. The cottage benefits from a private car parking space and guests can enjoy complimentary WiFi.

Awesome stay!

Was a great place for me and my friends to stay in the Lake District. Very cozy rooms and good furniture. No problems at all, I recommend highly!

Excellent accommodation in a great location

Very spacious living accommodation, close to Keswick and many walking/swimming/kayaking spots. The pub in Troutbeck was lovely for an evening meal (good vegetarian choices) and within walking distance. The house has been tastefully decorated and provides a good, comfortable base.

Beautiful cottage on quiet farm

We had a wonderful stay in the Cragside Cottage. It is well-stocked with quality items and lovely, comfortable furnishings. Staff were responsive and helpful. Highly recommend this cottage!

Nice property but quite isolated.

The cottage is a lovely well equipped property based on a working farm. Watch out for the farm dogs poop! Check in was easy and there is a tablet which has information regarding the property although no information regarding the nearest shop.

Weekend stay

Beautiful spacious cottage, good location, as we were staying for the nearby triathlon in Keswick. Two high spec bathrooms, one on each floor, was appreciated. Really lovely open plan kitchen/diner/lounge with comfy sofas. Downside was the patio area has been dug up so there was nowhere to sit out and the farm dogs roam around, leaving a mess. Also it's a long drive down the farm track!

A great stay

We enjoyed staying in this lovely cottage. It is located on a farm, in a courtyard. Surrounded by fields. Easy access to the A66, close to both Keswick and Penrith. The cottage is lovely, very clean, with all basics provided. The dining and living area are nice. The shower and bathrooms are new and nice. There is a small garden, but it is shared with the other cottages and there is no outdoor seating.

Lovely and comfortable

Lovely place, comfortable beds. A little remote for our liking but it was peaceful. Upstairs shower tends to flood so needs looking at. No washing machine which could be a problem if staying longer than a weekend. We didn’t order towels but they were on the beds which was a bonus

Rural setting with sheep on the doorstep

Overall we had a good week at Cragside Cottage, right beside a crag with sheep grazing. Lovely open-plan living area and large Smart TV which the grandchildren loved. Modern kitchen, but could have done with slightly smaller dinner plates which actually fitted in the dishwasher and pans which weren’t so heavy. We had been assured the patio area would be fenced off by the time we went, but there was nowhere to sit out at all. But it was in a good setting, very easy to park and handy for a number of beauty spots.

Comfy cottage for a family walking weekend

Really easy arrival with a key safe. We okayed having an extra car before arrival and this was easily accommodated by the owners. The cottage interior was very comfortably furnished and welcoming, and had everything we needed for our stay. The beds were very comfy! The dog walk from the door was lovely, it would have been nice to have had a seating area outside the cottage but we managed without. There’s a quality farm shop 20 mins walk away and the Troutbeck Inn is a 5 min drive away for an excellent evening meal. The cottage is situated within a working farm; very tranquil and off the beaten track with beautiful vistas. We wish we had booked for longer!

Beautiful barn conversion

Lovely house with bedrooms downstairs and a lovely open plan kitchen, dining and seating area upstairs. There is a second bathroom with shower on the top floor with main bathroom on ground floor. The kitchen is well equipped including dish washing items. We loved the location as easy access to Penrith, Keswick and Ulswater with lots of lovely walks. Whilst the property is on a working farm it’s very quiet. There are farm dogs that come & say hello so you do need to watch out for poop but you are in the countryside & they are working dogs. We had a couple of visits from the Herdwick sheep that pass by the house on the hill outside. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again,

Our stay at cragside cottage.

Lovely and quiet; good amenities , especially Penrith supermarket only 15 minutes away..Loved the large Tv in the main lounge to watch the sports on. Only downside was the lack of a washing machine , especyou are clambering up hills. ( had to wash my husbands outdoor gear in the bath , then squeeze the surplus water and let it dry over the bath). Thankfully, I took loads of T shirts and under wear. The parking was nice and straight forward. My husband commented how comfortable the beds were. We all enjoyed the stay and it was so good to visit Ullswater nearby. Needs a little TLC, otherwise lovely; a hidden gem . Best wishes from , Julie and Derek Longson, Cheadle,
