Gwithian Lookout - a house that sleeps 5 guests in 3 bedrooms
Gwithian Lookout is the perfect place to relax and reconnect amongst the wild, natural beauty of the dunes at Gwithian Towans. Commanding a premium position with direct views to Godrevy beach and the lighthouse, this beauty of a beach house means you can walk bare foot across the sand dunes to the beach. Cedar-clad with a wall of glass, Gwithian Lookout offers simple, elegant interiors and is ideally suited for a couple or small group of family and friends.
Flooded with light this luxury beach house is laid-back living at its best. The open-plan living space is all about the view, with vaulted ceilings and large walls of glass to maximise the incredible light and breath-taking scenery. There is a corner sofa and footstool for lounging with a view plus a stylish corner wood-burning stove for cosy nights in. A large picture window to the West captures the beautiful evening sunsets.
The open-plan kitchen is compact but well equipped with beautiful local granite work surfaces. A washed wooden dining table and comfortable wicker dining chairs sit below the lobster pot lampshade providing a comfortable and sociable setting.
Hand-crafted wooden ladders lead to two mezzanine areas providing additional living spaces. With casual seating these light-filled spaces are ideal for reading and relaxing with open-views to the beach and circular windows with views over the chalet rooftops to St Ives.
The three bedrooms offer paired-back simplicity and are accessed from the main living area. The master bedroom with King-Sized bed has double sliding doors that open to enjoy a beach view whilst lounging in bed. Less-is-more in this understated space adorned with carefully curated furniture and benefitting from an ensuite shower room and the luxury of falling asleep to the sound of the sea. A second double bedroom enjoys a large West-facing window and the compact third bedroom has a single bed. There is a shower room accessed directly from the living area.
The large sliding glass doors lead outside to the private terrace finished with a Cornish wall crafted from local stone. An outdoor dining table and chairs make for easy entertaining in this exceptional setting. And an outdoor shower with views of the lighthouse is ideal for that post-surf freshen up. From the terrace the communal grassy area leads to the road and pathways to the beach so you can grab your board and walk across the dunes to one of Europe's best surf beaches.
Gwithian Lookout is made for lazy days and long summer evenings enjoying the sunsets over the bay and the enchanting lights of St Ives twinkling at night. Gwithian Beach is a very long and exposed sandy beach that joins up with Hayle Towans and Godrevy at low tide, popular with surfers. Further down the coast is the fabulous Carbis Bay where the G7 summit was held in June 2021, featuring a blue flag beach and plenty of fine dining to be had. For keen walkers, you can connect to the nearby South West Coastal path and head up to Portreath or down to Hayle.
Stunning property and location. The views from the dining room table are spectacular. Everything you could want for a relaxing break. The beach cafe at Three Mile Beach resort a short walk away is a must.
It doesnât get much better than this! The house is stunning, the views are gorgeous and you can walk to the beach. We loved every minute of our stay here and would highly recommend it.
The Lookout is a very well thought out and well-appointed property with absolutely stunning views and very easy access to both the beach and a number of restaurants/cafes. We loved our stay here, the teenagers and the adults, and will definitely be back!
Luxurious surroundings for anyone who loves the sea. Astonishing place to relax and take in the Atlantic and the twilight bats were an unexpected bonus. I could spend many more days on that terrace.
As somebody who has had holidays in the area for years, it was a real treat to stay in this property.
The fixtures and fittings were premium and the view is world class.
Would strongly recommend.
Thanks,
We absolutely loved our week at the Lookout. And never has a place been so accurately named. Could not stop looking at the view all day every day! In all weathers it is stunning.
Quiet location, comfy beds and everything you could need is provided. Oh and M&S food supermarket 10 minutes away!
The property is beautiful and in a fabulous location with uninterrupted views out to sea and the lighthouse.
Everything you could ask for and more (my wife loved reading on the chaise longue) .
There was a minor hiccup as we had asked for two single duvets on the main bed, but on phoning the caretakers a very pleasant chap, Paul, came round and sorted it out in record time.
We are very particular about where we go, and would have no hesitation in returning here.
We spent a wonderful week at Gwithian Lookout. The weather was a mix of hot sun and cloudier days but warm throughout. We relaxed, read, bbq'd and enjoyed the accommodation inside and out. The large patio doors slide back to bring the outdoors in. The property has a direct and unobscured view of Gwithian Towans beach and Godrevy Lighthouse. We breakfasted at The Jam Pot cafe which has an extensive menu and is open Wed to Sun 1000 til 1600. It's literally a 5 inute dawdle from Gwithian Lookout. Days out included visits to beautiful gardens, Geevor Mine is well worth exploring. We had a day trip to the Isles of Scilly booked but we were disappointed when our flight was cancelled from Land's End Airport due to low cloud and air traffic control staff sickness. There were no issues with a full and prompt refund though. I guess we'll just have to stay here again and have another go at getting to the Isles of Scilly!
