We had a great stay. Perfect location for what we wanted to do onbour visit. (Wineries and shopping and golfing ) lovely host. Perfect spot for couple and family
Very clean apartment. The owners managed to make our stay easy. We are a family of 5 and it was perfect for us. There was plenty of toys and books for my kids in addition to board games and Netflix for rainy days. We had the feeling the owners pay attention to the details and it paid off. We will come back next year for sure!
I booked this location for my sisters 40th birthday. The house is located a short drive from Picton and the property is surrounded by beautiful trees. The deck was the perfect spot to have morning coffee with the fall leaves. The house was immaculately clean, well decorated and had so much charm. Christine was easy to communicate with and responsive. We felt right at home here for our two night stay. The one and only thing is we were 6 ladies getting dolled up for dinner and such and there is only 2 mirrors(bathroom and bedroom) so we had to get a bit creative. Otherwise a perfect stay. Thank you Christine!
Staying at the 1977 makes your Picton Sandbanks vacation such a treat. We build countless memories and we cannot complain about anything: Chris and Christine are awesome hosts!!!
I lucked out and managed to book the 1977 just in time to salvage a family vacation in the wake of Covid cancellations. Despite the scramble, I am incredibly happy with the property and would like to book again in the future.
The cottage is easy to find nestled in a wooded area, off the main road, up a hill. You can see the water through the trees, but our favourite part of the property was that it is surrounded by nature. My kids spent a lot of the time looking at creepy crawlies, catching frogs, and trying to 'rescue' caterpillars and butterflies. Do note though that because you are in a wooded area, some of Mother Nature's creepier creatures will make it inside the house!
The cottage is extremely well equipped, especially the kitchen amenities; champagne flutes to dual Keurig and drip coffee maker, ample selection of a variety of dishes and food storage, and a water cooler! I found everything I would use at home and cupboards were well labeled and very clean.
We planned to use the fire pit for roasting marshmallows but the night we wanted to do it, it rained, and we ran out of time before we had to pack up. I recommend it though, the pit is really cute with the colourful chairs and the instructions for the burn permit are clear and easy to follow. In fact, the instruction binder makes everything pretty clear. We did have some internet connection issues but we resolved them on our own. Who needs Netflix when you have caterpillars? (p.s. Don't touch the white spiky ones!)
While there is only one washroom, it was clean and well equipped. The shower and toilet were clean and the extra supply of bath and hand towels was greatly appreciated. Note: If you're going to visit Sandbanks Park while staying at the 1977, get there before 10am or you'll get stuck in the line-up or turned away. Thanks for including a free park pass with the rental! Woo, pass holder lane! Probably saved us 40 minutes waiting in the line!
The beds are comfortable and firm, the master slightly more so. The kids' bunk room has a closet full of board games, puzzles, building blocks, and books. All bedrooms were equipped with fans and there is an AC unit in the living space which does a fantastic job of cooling the main dining/living area.
Contacting the owners was fluid. I'd send a message and get a response within hours. They were always happy to help and quick to reply. I'm sad to see the vacation end. Would like to stay again next year!
Well located. Road to Sandbanks is easy. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed and even more... DVDs, games, boardgame, fire pit, bbq... everything we needed in the kitchen and bathroom, even a first aid kit!
The 1977 was a wonderful place to spend the week, It had all the conveniences of home and more. Pride of ownership is easily seen as it is clean and well maintained. The cottage is located close to Picton and has great access to Sandbanks Park and the numerous wineries and bakeries. Would love to return in the fall to enjoy some spectacular colours.

The property is easy to get to and in a convenient area between downtown Picton and PEC POIs
We (4 Adults and 3 children) spent our Victoria Day weekend at "The 1977" and had a marvellous time. Chris and Christine were gracious and thoughtful from the time we booked to the time we ended our stay and always making sure all of our needs were met. The property itself was exactly what we were looking for in terms of affordability, space and comfort as well as accommodations that ensured we were all taken care of regardless of whether our plans were indoors because of a rainy day or outdoors around Prince Edward County (Chris and Christine provided info on where to go and even a day pass to Sandbanks). We had such a great time that we look forward to booking again in the future. Highly recommended!!!
This home is well laid out, well equipped and conveniently located. In addition the owners, Chris and Christine, respond almost immediately to any questions that might arise. The decor is understated giving an airy feeling allowing visitors to add their own touch to make it feel like home away from home. It sleeps six comfortably; we were just two and enjoyed the master bedroom's comfy bed. Cooking in poses no problem as the kitchen is large with all the equipment needed to whip up a meal.
Worth a return visit.
We enjoyed a lovely stay at Starlight Cottage. The cottage was bright and clean, perfectly organized and outfitted. Look forward to restful sleeps on soft organic cotton sheets. Conveniently located near Sand Dunes park and Sandbanks Outlet beach, the rental included the complimentary use of an Ontario Parks day pass! In addition to beach days, we enjoyed other activities such as a guided tour on horseback through woodland trails, at the ranch just minutes down the road, Three Dogs winery with jazz on the patio and oven-fired pizza, perusing the Old Bookstore in nearby Picton and exploring the Loyalist Museum in Adolphustown just a ferry ride away. BBQ on patio and excellent choices at Sobeys' service case in Picton. Evenings included family games nights and enjoying singing and s'mores around the campfire. Highly recommended!
Hi Chris and Christina
My family enjoyed very much the staying in Prince Edward County. The house was spacious, comfortable and has nice bedrooms, great view, although I would not recommend with little children. It is too close to a main street and a bit of a hill.
Location is good if you would like to go to Picton, Sandbanks and some wineries. There are like 20 minutes to the house.
We had a great time and lovely memories.

He's an Ottawa-born person with East Coast roots, and she's a Torontonian going back a few generations. The County is almost smack in the middle, so it was just a good fit!
We have been visiting the County for several years now, and decided to take the plunge and invest in the area. When we drove up to our place during the glory of fall colours, we fell in love with it right away. We hope you will enjoy your morning coffee looking out over the water, or a glass of wine around the fire pit at night.
We are just far enough out of town for you to feel like you have a private getaway, but close enough for a quick grocery run! The trees that surround the property provide a lush summer setting. We have a beautiful open concept living and dining area perfect for friends and family to enjoy time together.
The kitchen is fully equipped with what you need to prepare your favourite meal, but you can also enjoy the many wonderful restaurants that Picton has to offer! (Bloomfield and Wellington too!)
