Charnwood

Charnwood is a comfortable two-bedroom cottage located in the pretty Cornish village of Lewannick. Sleeping four guests, the cottage is an ideal base for families and couples looking to explore the Cornish coast and countryside. With all accommodation arranged on the ground floor, it is also a great choice for those with limited mobility.



Entering through the front door, the hallway leads to the kitchen, lounge, family bathroom and two bedrooms — one with a king-size bed and the other arranged as a twin.



The kitchen is well-equipped for a self-catering stay and includes a dining table seating four, along with a washing machine and tumble dryer. Guests will find everything needed to prepare relaxed breakfasts or hearty evening meals.



The cozy living room features two comfortable sofas and a charming log-burning stove, perfect for keeping warm during the autumn and winter months. Large French doors allow plenty of natural light to flood the space and open onto the patio and lawned garden, complete with its quirky Christmas tree planted at the center. Please note the garden is not enclosed, as it wraps around the house with no gates at either side. The garage contains the owner's possessions and is not accessible to guests.



There is private off-road parking on the driveway for two cars.

Charnwood is situated in Lewannick, a charming village approximately one mile from the A30, providing convenient access through the heart of Cornwall. The property is located on a quiet residential street, just a short stroll from the centre of the village. The Archer's Arms is a traditional pub serving hearty food. Please note there is no longer a village shop, Post Office or doctor's surgery in Lewannick. The nearest shop and doctor's surgery are located in Polyphant, and the closest garage is approximately 3–4 miles away.



Charnwood is perfectly positioned for exploring Cornwall. Popular day trips include Tintagel and Port Isaac on the North Coast, as well as Portwrinkle and Looe on the South Coast. For golfers, Trethorne Golf Club, just three minutes up the road, welcomes visiting players.

Beautiful bungalow very well equipped with a lovely welcome gift of scones jam and cream. Lots of coffee and tea provided. Good parking right by the door. Large garden . Shower in the bath two of us couldn’t use it because it meant climbing over to get in bath.

Vicky the housekeeper is amazing, nothing was to much trouble for her. Everything you need is in the bungalow, a great location for exploring Cornwall & Devon. Had problems finding the place, but a call to Finest Retreats had us finding it in minutes. We'll definitely be returning next time we holiday in Cornwall.

Me and the kids loved our three nights at this Lewannick bungalow.

Clean, with nice dbl rm and nice twin room. Wood burner for cosiness, and outstanding walks to be had on Twelve Men’s Moor, the southeastern corner of Bodmin Moor. We were visiting relatives in a neighboring village. We also had a day out in Newquay, which after the A30 improvements is an hour tops. Bravo this nice little property.

This was the perfect base.

5 mins from the A30 meaning you can get anywhere pretty quickly and efficiently. The house had everything you could need, including comfy beds and lush bath. The kitchen came with a full sized fridge and a separate freezer. If we knew this ahead of time we would have maximised this! Amazing base for a trip touring around Cornwall. Would happily recommend this to anyone.

Cottage exactly as described. Was clean, plenty of crockery cooking utensils etc. Lovely garden, really enjoyed the birdsong and watching activity on the feeder. Location of cottage perfect for ease of exploring. Would recommend and would look to book again. Both the property owner and Vicky the caretaker really helpful and the welcome pack on arrival a pleasant and welcome surprise.

The good level of comfort of the house - had everything you needed. Vicki was a great help settling us in....made it easy. The inclusion of local scones, cream and milk was a nice touch. Having a clothes washer and dryer was great and much appreciated. The location suited us as we were central to then drive all over Cornwall. Just little things - put the WiFi code in the house manual, increase the shower water pressure if possible, have loo paper and shower soap for guests entire stay and use less high-fragrance cleaning products. The Queen mattress sinks on one side so it needs flipping over or replacing.

Lovely quiet yet Central location for getting around Cornwall. Sadly we never cold enough to get the wood burner going, but lovely to hear the bird song in the morning No wi-fi, but as it was purely a rest stop place, this want really an issue.

A hidden gem

An ideal holiday home! Quiet, cosy & welcoming, after a days explorations we felt like coming back home. The fireplace was perfect on a cold evening, the location great for exploring both coasts of East Cornwall, the king size bed just right. The manager Vicky was really helpful and accommodating, she even offered assistance when our car broke down (luckily it was only a flat batt). We were impressed how she managed to make the place spotlessly clean despite the blackout (we arrived in the wake of strom Eunice that wrecked the county, the power came back half an hour before our arrival). The owner cared to contact us to check if we had everything we needed and gave plenty useful advice. Wish we could stay long enough to explore the book collection, certainly not the kind you find in a usual holiday home. The thing we liked the best though was a bunch of fresh flowers awaiting us on arrival... really made our day! Do not trust the sat nav! It led us to a parallel road and if it wasn't for Vicky who lives few doors down and came out to collect us we'd be looking for the address all night! Back to the point, there was absolutely nothing we didn't like. Our stay was perfect and we're hoping this wasn't the last time.
