Had an amazing overnight with my partner and my new puppy, Jacqui was absolutely amazing with us from start to finish, hit tub was amazing and the breakfast was even better, will definitely be back in the summer, views are amazing xx
Had a wonderful 2 day stay at Shepards Hut, looks as advertised - spotless, homely, has everything you need, hosts Jaqueline and Dave amazingly friendly, and very knowledgeable regarding surrounding area, beautiful walks with the dog, beaches amazing, would 100% recommend.
Beautiful location just outside Dumfries. Gorgeous breakfasts, accommodation is clean and comfortable. No complaints about any aspect. Even had a secure field for the dog to run around in. Highly recommend.
The Shepherds hut is lovely! I was looking forward to a secluded, restful stay to recover from the crazy-ness that the past 18 months have brought.
Upon arriving we were greeted instantly which was nice, I was a little concerned regarding the proximity of the hut to the house, thinking that this wouldn't be the secluded trip I was hoping but it was lovely!
The hosts recommend some local takeaways for our first night and even gave the takeaway directions for us! If they needed to contact us during the stay, Jacquie text us which was really nice as it did not feel like an imposition! Texting us to let us know there was a meteor shower on a clear night was so thoughtful!
The hut is located in a way that you can't hear traffic and look out over fields from the hot tub but it is only a 20 minute drive to the local town!
If you are taking a dog consider taking a longline for them until they are used to the property, or if you're a nervous Nellie about them escaping like me!
The hut is lovely and spacious for a Shepherds hut and the shower is lovely! There is a microwave and fridge in the hut which was unexpected but very helpful!
The breakfast was lovely but huge! Most of our hike that day was us pushing through very full tummies!
The hot tub is cleaned after each guest I beleive which is definitely not the norm but is reassuring!
100% will stay again
Had a most enjoyable stay at the shepherds hut. Fantastic location. Our hosts Jacquie and David were a delight and went over and above to.
look after us.
Amazing breakfasts too. Also fab to have a hot tub to relax in. Even covered over if it rains. They also have a very friendly dog called Dougal.
Totally recommended for a stunning and peaceful setting.
