Sleeps 4+. 2 bedroom farmhouse. The Tudor Wing is the 'modern extension' of the main Medieval property at Cullacott and was built in 1579 ( this date is carved in granite on the lintel of the main parlour window). It has very large spacious and airy rooms with a flag stone floored parlour with an open fireplace and grand oak floored bedrooms. These bedrooms are reached by a wide slate turret staircase. The twin room is accessed through the main bedroom and has a modern en suite. The main bathroom including a shower, is downstairs. The warm kitchen with its welcoming quarry tiled floor has craftsman built oak cupboards and all modern facilities. The Tudor wing can accommodate a family of 5 as the spacious main bedroom has a sofa bed, but it is equally suitable for 2 people and a discount is given for couples staying there if booking for a week or more. It is a quiet, peaceful, off the beaten track place for a romantic break!
Amazing historic property - it's wonderful to see the building so well and lovingly preserved. The accommodation is well-thought through, with two very big bedrooms (one en-suite), a bigger additional downstairs bathroom, a well-equipped kitchen and a very big living / dining room with open fire. Lovely gardens to the rear. All really beautifully and authentically equipped and furnished. One possible downside is slightly volatile Wifi - but, actually, that's not really a bad thing after a terribly busy year as it helped us even more to switch off. Absolutely loved the place and can't recommend highly enough.
What a place! This is an amazing property, from drawing up on the old cobbled yard, walking through the solid wood door and through the fire places and beamed rooms, you cannot fail to be impressed with the charm and history! The open fire in the living room makes this a very cosy room, spiral stair case leads up to a huge double room and then on to a twin with an ensuite shower room, which is modern and well equipped. Outside there are shared communal areas, with a good sized garden and a games room with air hockey and a good stack of garden games. There is also an outside loo and a washing machine and tumble dryer. Location wise, it is close to Launceston, but quiet and well out of the way. Booking and communication was fantastic and we had a very friendly greeting when we arrived. We would highly recommend thks very character and charming property.
Fazit: Sehr empfehlenswert
Five generations of our family have lived at Cullacott. John and Mary Mann, the first generation, arrived from West Cornwall in 1910. The flat bed wagon on which some of their furniture was transported is still in the open wagon house on the northern side of the cobbled courtyard.
Cullacott is a Grade 1 listed Medieval Hall House situated in peaceful countryside near the Devon and Cornwall border. Staying at Cullacott is a unique holiday experience. Steeped in history, in a tranquil setting and yet fully equipped for 21st century living.
