Great location. Pool is fantastic. Well stocked with everything we needed. Grounds are beautiful. Really enjoyed our stay. Would have liked more towels for our week stay.
We stayed here with with family and friends with kids ranging from 5-14 years., 9 total. Pictures donât do the house justice, it is so beautiful. We had plenty of room to spread out and even some extra space we did not use. The big kitchen worked out great for eating breakfast at the bar and preparing delicious meals with fresh ingredients from the market. We dined outdoors every night. Kids loved the pool and it was a great refuge from the heat. We walked to the village, lookout points and hiked to the monastery. Easy location for half day trips to surrounding villages and even Mont Ventoux. Beautiful memories were made here in dreamy Provence.
We are a multi-cultural multi-lingual family, currently based in England. We have 4 children; our youngest is born in this house in Provence where we have so many fantastic family memories. We try to escape as often as possible to our house in Gordes to make the most of the sunshine, the lovely smells, the peace and quiet, whatever the season.
At the time we bought the house, we were living in a big grey city and were desperate to spend our holiday in a warm, sunny and bright place with plenty of space for the children to run around. Nothing beats Provence for its colours, smells, light and plaisir de vivre. We all love cooking and can't get enough of going to markets, finding new producers and tasting new wines. Its is a great place for us to spend time with friends and families as the house benefits from large open spaces and separated areas.
While in a very quiet lane with very few neighbours, the house is located within walking distance from the village of Gordes, equipped with a few shops, bars and restaurants, and a weekly market. Two bedrooms are set up with terraces overlooking the village and the Luberon, allowing quiet times to read or watch the stars. As we love cooking, the newly refurbished kitchen is fully equipped to cater for large gatherings and the outdoor terrace contains a plancha (wood fire are totally forbidden most of the year, because of the risks of fires) and a long wooden table to fit many guests. Thanks to the house position on a hill, temperatures are always cooler than down in the valley, which is definitely an asset in the summer. Also the thick traditional white walls, while reflecting the light, keep the heat at bay together with the old-fashioned terracotta floor. The house is nicely but simply furnished, with a mix of traditional and modern furniture; while keeping it easy to live in, we have added many personal touches and rejected the âfor rentâ look as the property is set up mainly for our own use.
