This is one of the nicest vacation homes that I've ever stayed in. I could truly tell that the owners wanted our stay to be perfect, and it was for my entire family. The location and view can't be beat. I highly recommend staying here.
Clean home with great space for larger group. Room for 4 couples with private bathrooms. The view is beyond description. BREATHTAKING! Hosts are very accomodating and available whenever you need them.
The Aurora Jewel was an amazing place to stay for a family of 6. Everyone had their own space, the views were amazing and our hosts Kath and Rich were attentive. I would highly recommend this property if you are planning to spend any time in Homer, Alaska.
This is hands down the cleanest place weâve ever stayed at! Kathy & Rich were awesome to deal with!!! The view is absolutely stunning! Will definitely stay here again if we ever go back to Homer! Saw cow/ calf moose and bear from the cabin!! Easy access from the highway!
We enjoyed our stay at Fitz Creek. The house was in a perfect location just a short distance from Homer. The view was incredible! Our host Katherine was amazing and very helpful. She met us when we arrived and gave us great information about the area.
We are three brothers and their wives. The Aurora Jewel was the perfect final stay in our Alaska vacation. Each couple had their own private space with plenty of other space where we could be together! The view to the mountains and water were more than spectacular!! Sitting on the front porch was our favorite!! Kath and Rich were so welcoming and full of information for us! If you are looking to stay in Homer, don't miss out on this gem!!
It was a great house and fit our needs really well. Cousins and their spouse's over 60 getting together for a week of fishing. House was very comfortable and because of the cool rainy weather, it was nice having a fire in the fireplace. Thanks again for everything. We all had a wonderful time.
Nice property with fabulous views. Spacious. Accommodated our group of 9 no problem. Need to be able to do at least one flight of stairs (entrance to the house).
This was a property in a rural community with an incredible view of mountains, glaciers and Kachemak Bay. We loved the coziness of the home with the wonderful fireplace and unlimited firewood, that we used a lot. Well stocked kitchen and very comfortable beds made it a great stay for our family group of grandma & grandpa, mom & dad and 3 teen-aged kids. The main floor bedroom was a bonus for grandma & grandpa.
The hosts were incredibly helpful & available. Would definitely stay there again.
We have traveled extensively within the US and multiple countries, and oh my goodness--this is by far our FAVORITE place in the world! The space and location are outstanding and work perfectly for our family of five. This home is stocked with everything that you need and if there is an issue, the owners are just a few minutes away. They are so very kind and will do whatever they can to ensure that your stay is memorable! While the location is about 25 minutes from the Homer Spit, it's worth staying out of town. The view is second to none and your chances of wildlife spotting are greatly increased. This is our second stay and it will not be our last!
We had a great stay at the Aurora Jewel!! The views are absolutely stunning and we had everything we needed for our party of 5. The table was perfect for playing games while enjoying the long days and gorgeous views. The beds were so comfortable!
We saw a moose on several occasions and a pheasant (I believe it was). It was a perfect location to enjoy Homer during day and family time at night.
The hosts are wonderful and wanted to make sure we had everything we needed and we felt very welcomed.
We will always look to stay at the Aurora Jewel when in Homer!
Thank you for the great stay!
The view is one of the best in Homer and because it is the Old East End Road there is VERY little traffic. The yard is huge and beautiful, front and back porches for diff
erent times of the day, one of them with a great grill. The house is so well equipped and the beds extremely comfortable. Every bedroom has a bath to go with it. When I vacation I spend time in the kitchen and really appreciated all the space and kitchen wares. I would go back again, no question
This home is beautiful and extremely well stocked! Especially appreciated the availability of firewood. The home is very well furnished and has plenty of additional items such as extra towels and linens. There was an issue with not being able to use the only bathtub in the home and the downstairs shower leaked or some how left water on the floor. This was immediately cleaned up with the extra towels available. We especially enjoyed the brochures and games available for our use! Would definitely stay in this home again!
To start, the view from the lovely aurora jewel is breathtaking. Everywhere you look here in homer is beautiful, but the view from the house is something else. You get a nice full view of the mountains across the ocean. Imagine this: you wake up and the first thing you see is the incredible mountain and ocean view out the window. The house itself is so lovely and spacious. You'd never have to worry about finding an available bathroom, there's many rooms with bathrooms attached. They provided us with wood and an already created set up in the wonderful and cozy fireplace. It's a very comfy and homey place, if you're indecisive of where to stay this place is it! The owners are super kind and considerate and gave us some more details of the area around us. They pointed out some extra spots to check out that were super worth looking at! Incredible owners, incredible space and incredible view. This home is where it's at!
This VRBO house is amazing! The views from the picture windows were breathtakingly beautiful. We could even see the spit with their telescope. We had a nice visit with the home owners, Kath and Rich, and they gave us good advice of places to visit and eat. The drive to the spit was apx 20 minutes. It was nice to return to this quiet area up in the hills after a busy day at the spit. We spotted an Eagle in a nearby tree and had a moose visit the yard in the evenings. It was very convenient having a bathroom in each of the rooms. There was plenty of space for 3 couples, we especially liked the large kitchen table to sit around when we made some meals at the house. Even though it was July, the wood burning fire place was well used to warm up by after a long day of fishing. I highly recommend staying at this home near Homer!
We were a family of eight celebrating a 50-year wedding anniversary, a 20-year wedding anniversary and a High School graduation. I carefully selected this property based on size, location and view. This property did not disappoint! We arrived very late as our flight did not land in Anchorage until after 7pm. What a beautiful drive from Anchorage to Homer, we were just in awe! It is a 3.5-hour drive to the home, welllll took us over 4 hours because we stopped for pictures and dinner along the way. When we arrived, the home was open and ready for us. We met with Kathy and Rich the next morning and they gave us great info on the property and the area. As they were leaving a mama moose and her two babies strolled across the yard, on cue? lol, absolutely amazing!! This home is well appointed and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The YARD and VIEW is where it is at, and so peaceful and quiet, nothing but sounds of the wildlife! Breathtaking views of the bay and glaciers kept us outside for hours just soaking it in. We used the firepit for smores for our grandson and he was able to get his zoomies out on the lawn. The drive into Homer is about 15 minutes, but come on guys, driving anywhere in Alaska is absolutely stunning, so not a problem at all. I would give this home 10 stars if i could and Kathy and Rich 20 for their hospitality. We hope to come back to Homer, and if we do, this is where we will stay!
A beautiful and spacious house has a great and large yard, and views that canât be beat. With welcoming and friendly hosts, Aurora Jewel is - sorry for the pun- a gem. We loved this house even though 15 miles outside Homer, although an easy drive. Waking up in the morning to see the view of the glacier and mountains in Kenai, and enjoying a fire and roasting marshmallows with the same view at night made this stay one of our all time favorites.
We had such an amazing time! The house is beautiful and honors the history of the area. The host was absolutely AMAZING making sure we had everything we needed to make our satay comfortable (as it is a short drive back to town). We were on a long trip covering 2200 miles of the state in 7 days and by the time we got to Homer we were ready to be "at the end of the road" and relax watching the glaciers and the bay. We couldn't have asked for a better location or better hosts. Thank you for making our son's graduation trip so memorable.
The Aurora Jewel was a wonderful space for our family of five. We enjoyed the mountain, glacier and bay views immensly. We saw moose walk through the property a couple of times. The home is cozy but spacious enough for everyone to relax. The location is perfect for exploring the Homer area without staying in the more busy commercial harbor area. The hosts are outstanding and went above and beyond their duties to accomodate us during our stay!We would not hesitate to book this property again!
Beautiful accommodations and location for our stay with family. Home has everything you could ask for. Hope to return again soon. Thank you Kath & Rich!
Former owners of a Bed & Breakfast, we have thoroughly enjoyed sharing our Alaskan adventures with our guests. In this new venture, we offer all the hospitality of a B&B but with the privacy and independence of a vacation rental. We are nearby to accommodate your needs but do not live on site. We work in the teaching and construction professions, finding joy in the building of dreams and futures. Our other passions include fishing, biking, skiing, hiking, gardening, travel, and family.
Location, location, location. Quiet setting with stunning panoramic views of the glaciated Kenai Mountain range and the sapphire-blue waters of Kachemak Bay. House is cedar, spacious, and ready to make you feel at home in Homer. space includes over 3 acres... fire pit overlooks incredible view... Fireweed, moose, sandhill cranes, eagles, ... and, ah, peace and quiet. Serenely magnificent.
