Hi Sarah, we are very disappointed with your review considering we have had 5 star reviews 5 times in a row recently on our other platform. Specifically mentioning how clean the cottage was. We have been delighted with our new cleaner. We have sent you a personal message so we can find out exactly what you deemed as not very clean. All feedback is invaluable to us to make sure we offer our home in tip top cleanliness. It is our home which we mention several times in the details and the welcome message. And have kept our personal belongings to a bare minimum with empty wardrobe and drawers but if you somehow missed this detail we can understand you may have been surprised. I am not sure if you tried to contact me for directions on the evening that you arrived as I have no record of it. As I had explained we were having problems with our signal out on the boat. Dear Charmaine, we are very sorry to hear you were disappointed with our home. This is not up to our high standards if the carpets appeared not to have been vacuumed. And hairs in the drawer. I have private messaged you. Sincere apologies we will be talking to our cleaner about this issue. The windows do open in the bedroom being a 500 year old listed property the windows although fairly new have to be the same as the original so they are wooden sash windows that slide down easily but you do have to ensure they are aligned. No one has ever mentioned the windows before but I will be sure to check with future guests that they know how to open them. Light bulb duly noted.

We are sorry you did not enjoy our cottage. Unfortunately this guest tried to blackmail us with a bad review if we did not give them a 50% refund. We were initially very upset for Hanna that she was not happy and upon personal inspection of the cottage ourselves after her departure we did give a partial refund by way of recognition. But •The air conditioning filtration unit is fully explained in the listing. (Hanna being from the USA was expecting it to be like it is in the USA and have temperature control) •The previous guest had left sticky tape on the tumble dryer door as the catch is broken. Although dryer is still operational and we used it constantly during our stay. •The remote controls are fully functional we could see nothing wrong with them. •The king mattress in the main bedroom cost £1500 and is very comfortable, the the mattress is the second bedroom is a king size and also very comfortable. It is a brand new bed and was ordered as a king size bed but it does seem as if the mattress is slightly smaller than the bed. Maybe Hanna is right and it’s a queen size bed frame. •The Key lock box location is in a temporary position which was explained to the guest upon check/in. We have a date for that to be moved to a different location. •There were two cupboard door knobs that had come off. These have been replaced. •The shower rod is fully functioning •Yes we discovered a small amount of peeled paint in the bathroom and a small patch on one wall half way up the stairs. *Both have now been repaired and made new. •Yes we found a few cobwebs unfortunately and agreed not acceptable. Although our housekeeping team in whom we trusted were paid to do a deep clean and inform us of any repairs that need attending to before Hanna’s stay we found the cottage feeling a little unloved and not up to our high standards of cleanliness and for other reasons we therefore have dismissed them. And have acquired a new housekeeping company who live locally and will also be providing a welcome package with fresh Cornish cream and jam scones. We have rectified repaired and thoroughly cleaned our beautiful cottage and home since this guest stayed. We are not dishonest the dryer is listed as a drying stand which we provide ( precisely because the catch is broken) The A/C is fully explained And the extra large washing machine works perfectly. We are disappointed this guest has chosen to write this inaccurate review although we offered to send our good friend round to see if there was anything he could do to help make their stay better they refused and just wanted 50% off to pay them not to write a bad review… We wish Hanna and her family well but will not be hosting them again. We have had well over 100 reviews on another platform and this is only the second bad reviews in six years. We personally inspected our cottage after Hanna’s departure and yes there were some cobwebs
