Guest Cottage Country Estate- Récemment rénové

En ville 2 chambres chalet d'hôtes avec une cour clôturée privée. Le chalet fait partie d'un domaine construit par la famille Heminway qui fabrique du fil de soie en ville. La propriété dispose d'arbres matures et jardin. Rénové en septembre 2016, la maison dispose de nouveaux appareils électroménagers, de comptoirs en granit, d'une chambre principale, d'une 2e chambre, d'un salon avec cheminée, de la climatisation et d'un coin repas extérieur couvert. L'École Taft se trouve à 2 minutes en voiture du chalet. Il y a beaucoup de bons restaurants à l'intérieur des distances de la propriété en marchant le long d'un cinéma. Black Rock State Park est un court trajet en voiture sur la route 6.
La maison a une atmosphère de détente, il a été construit en 1950 avec la construction de plâtre qui le rend très calme. La cour est entoure de pins blancs de 100 pieds et il y a une zone où vous pouvez allumer un feu d'obligations sur le bois d'une chute est prévue. Le gîte dispose d'une porte pour animaux de compagnie qui pourra accueillir un 35lb. animal de compagnie. Il est clôturé avec un mur de pierre de 5 pieds de monter à bord des routes.

Vous aurez accès à l'ensemble des 7 acres et un ruisseau privé qui traverse l'arrière de la propriété, c'est un endroit merveilleux où être quand le temps se réchauffe.

Fantastic

Beautiful cottage, spectacular property, wonderful hosts. Not sure what else to say? We came up to CT with our pup to look at areas we may want to move to. The cottage was perfect for us, nice and private and lots of land for our pup to walk. Great state park a few miles away and plenty of good restaurants nearby. Very happy!

Quintessential New England

Super charming cottage! Loved being surrounded by flowers in bloom; enjoyed morning coffee in outside space. Interior lovely with well chosen antiques/vintage appropriate items. I was worried about white couches with a hubby and a teenager, but there were covers for protection. We did not cook or needed a kitchen for meals, just made coffee, but could have easily done so in well equipped kitchen. No room for three to sit in kitchen, but did not need to. Lovely stay with friendly hosts!

very disappointing trip

I was disappointed with the cleanliness of the house and the bed in one bedroom was very uncomfortable . The house does not look like it was renovated.

Ellen and her husband booked the cottage and came a day early. Paul and I were finishing making the beds when they arrived. I had cleaned it earlier in the day. She did book a pet but did not tell us she was bringing 3 dogs. People usually don’t leave that out. I did request that they put the pet covers that we have in the linen closet on the white sofas. She was going to pay me for the extra night directly when she arrived but didn't. She and her husband stayed one night and disappeared the next day. We live right across from the cottage about 60 feet. They did not come by and tell us they had any problems with beds, condition of the house or cleanliness. We received a call 2 days later from her. She told me that the trees made her sick, she complained about the beds and the dogs were restless. She told me she found accommodations with her sister and she would like a refund. I suggested she call and get the reservation cleared from my calendar and if I could get it booked I would give her some money back. Its the first time I’ve had guests behave this way. Sad.

Adorable house on beautiful property

This cottage is adorable and charming on a large hillside property. I was in the house for a month. The owner is lovely and accessible The fenced yard is perfect for traveling with a pet and the walks down the large hill to the stream are even better. The house is comfortable as is the bed in the front bedroom. Things that make the house four star instead of five star are the mediocre quality kitchen furnishings, a noisy sump pump, mismatched and somewhat older bed linens and towels, less than abundant hot water, and an address that makes receiving deliveries in any many very challenging (too long to explain but trust me that I spent a lot of time directing UberEats, Instacart, UPS, and FedEx). Despite these imperfections, I loved my stay and would stay again if I was in the area. (With the hope that the owner would elevate the comfort and raise rices accordingly.) I’m rooting for this charming house to succeed even more than it already has.

Great location, could use a few tweeks

The location is great, the cottage cozy with enough space for 4 adults (not sure 6 would be comfortable), but there are a few reasons I gave the review a 4: 1) the hot water is so hot my husband got literal burns doing dishes not realizing the water would get that hot 2) When we arrived there were no lights anywhere. The lanterns on the stone wall by the road werent on, the porch light wasnt on, at least one inside light wasnt on. It was very dark and hard to see. 3) So SO much furniture for such a tiny place. There was furniture in every doorway making getting around the cottage very awkward. We ended up moving things to get through doorways and none of us are fat. 4) Poor arrival instructions. The welcome email does not state how to get a key (the front door was left open), or how to connect to wifi (I had to email for password). There was also no exit instructions. We did the dishes and took the trash out, which really for a $300 cleaning fee was good enough in our opinion. 4) More blankets for the beds now that it is colder would be nice. Or a throw or two for the couches to snuggle up and watch TV would be good. But overall the stay was excellent. There is laundry on property making cleaning easy. It is close to Rt 8 making getting around CT very easy. The property owner is very communicative, so if there’s an issue she responds quickly (we had no issue beyond not knowing the door would be left open and not knowing the wifi PW). Also, they get a half star for having a naughty lightswitch which I appreciated. David is one of my favorite statues. Thanks for the great stay :)

Cozy Getaway

The cottage was the perfect little escape from NYC. Cozy fireplace, clean interior, fully stocked kitchen and a yard for the pooch. Faye went out of her way to help with any questions - even cleaning off my car when a snowstorm hit.

Cozy cottage

Our stay was very nice and the owners were very communicative and flexible when the trip needed to be adjusted by a day due to a power outage in the entire area (tropical storm came through prior to arrival). The fenced yard was great for our dog, though it is just off a busy road so there is some traffic noise at peak time. Beds were super comfortable and fully equipped kitchen.

We were in the area for a 50th high school reunion. The cottage was exactly what was presented. It was comfortable, clean and homey. A wonderful New England experience. Pretty peaceful surroundings.

Lovely Cottage in a great location

We had a great time staying in this lovely traditional cottage with lots of character in Watertown. It was very comfortable with a good bed, lcosy living room and a very well equipped kitchen. It is surrounded by a nice garden, lovely for sitting out in the sun. It is located within walking distance of Watertown centre., where there are good food shops, restaurants and bars. We ate at the local Thai restaurant where the food was outstanding. Faye and Paul were very welcoming and helpful with advice about the local area. We had a lovely day walking at the Black Rock State Park which is a few minutes drive from the property. We also visited Hammonasset , a lovely place on the coast.

The Greatest

From the time I set foot in the Cottage I was at Home. Everything was there for my perfect Stay for my 50th Class Reunion. My Plan was to have some people over and make some music and give them some great food. Everything I needed was there for the preparation of a Wonderful Night with some of my Class Members of Darien High School Class of 1968... We set up Band Practice in the Living room of the Cottage and there was plenty of room, Even with the full size Bass that my Friend came with to get some great sound without amplification. We also had a Large Roland Electric Piano and two more acoustic Guitars. We planed and Ate for a few Hours and I invited our hosts over to hear our music, They seemed to enjoy what we were doing. I had Family and Friends who live in the area so my visits to them were very easy for me to make. I have stayed in many places and I will say this was tops for me. You will not find a more comfortable Home away from Home then the Cottage in Watertown. Ct. Gorgeous in every Way.The only down fall of the trip was I had to Leave...

The Cottage WIFI: It features an true enterprise-class wifi network (Ubiquiti 1Gbs 802.11AC Pro meshed hotspots, hub, router and switches) and 200Mbs Internet service, dependably delivering excellent bandwidth to every room, so multiple concurrent video conferencing steams and remote work (for an entire group) are guaranteed to proceed without a problem.

In the evening the living room converts to another bedroom, all that is need is to move a coffee table and pull down the Murphy bed.
There is FREE wifi, and subscriptions to Netflix and Amazon Prime for the TV in the front bedroom. A large air conditioning unit keeps the house cool in the summer. We've outfitted the kitchen extensive with a variety of spices, basics such as sugar, flour, tea along with a cabinet full of pots and pans.
The things we want to find when we travel, we have tried to provide:
The linen closet is full of towels, soft linen, comforters, blankets, extra soap, toilet paper and additional pillows down & fiber.
Under the kitchen sink we provide packet dishwashing soap, unopened sponges, garbage bags and various cleaners.
In the front kitchen closet there is a vacuum, broom and fire extinguisher immediately to the right is the door that leads to the garage. A few steps down take a quick left and the door to your left leads to the laundry in the basement of the cottage.
If you stay for a week or longer the house is warm in the winter cool in the summer and convenient to the areas attractions.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

The property is on 7 acres with a stream that is a wonderful refuge in the summer. It also is a 2 minute drive to Taft school, or a 10 minute walk to the movie theatre. The town features several excellent resta and The Main Street Grill. The Sunset Grill at CrestBrook Country Club serves wonderful specials all during the week that you can find on their website.
The cottage is located 3 miles from Black Rock State Park where you can swim in the summer or take wonder walks in the other 3 seasons through wooded pathways. Swimming is also available at Crestbrook I can give you more information on that.
Right up the street if you follow Nova Scotia Hill Road you will arrive at Veterans Park. You have to go through the stoplight at the top and cross Buckingham Street. There is a nice playground there along with paths that go through the woods. and concerts in the summer.
