We loved the school house and the surrounding town of La Crosse! Owners were very accommodating and extremely nice! We hope to come back again for future adventures!
Great Place to stay. Location close enough to LaCross for all the events we were in town for. A little hard to find due to the trees in front of the building, especially in the dark.
We loved the Wilson Schoolhouse and our two kids thought it was the coolest property theyâve stayed at. Close to everything in La Crosse with wonderful hospitality and anything we could have needed was in the house. We traveled with a bigger group, so we were a little nervous about the couch beds but they ended up being incredibly comfortable! Would stay again if in the area.
Perfect property for what we were looking. The schoolhouse is absolutely adorable. The common space is great for a large group get together! Easy to make large group meals, play board games, and enjoy company.
What a fantastic place! It was the ideal place for a "girl's weekend". The huge upstairs (the former classroom) with its high ceilings and completely open floor plan is full of natural light and comfortable, cozy seating. The kitchen was very well equipped, and we loved all of the history that is present in the house in the form of photos, etc.. The house is very close to La Crosse, and there are good places for hiking, coffee, and cocktails there. I would love to stay at the Wilson Schoolhouse again.
The school house was perfect for our weekend visit. The large open common room was beautiful. We had fun looking through the historic pictures. We only stayed a weekend but would love to come back for a longer trip. Close enough to town but out in a more rural spot. The downstairs has two good sized bedrooms, and a sleeper sofa in the downstairs common room that worked for one of our teens. We would definitely come back.
Listing was accurate, the schoolhouse was spotless, beds were comfortable, and the owners were fantastic to work with. We loved the history of the schoolhouse. Area was safe and quiet.
The hosts made extra effort in assisting us with finding a lost package that was delivered and 'lost' - a neighbor picked it up to keep it safe and hand delivered to us to be sure we received it. The owners were out of town but were still available to assist us with the package and any questions we had. They definitely went above and beyond for us.
We would definitely stay there again.
Thank you!
The school house was immaculate. All of our needs were met and there were even a few extras - such as granola bars, juice, coffee and tea. The beds were comfortable and private. The rooms were spacious and there were 2 bathrooms which was very nice. TV was available as well as reading materials and brochures for the area. It was so nice that when they remodeled they kept the school house feel. The hosts were very accommodating and friendly but not at all interfering. If we are lucky enough to go back and stay there again, we will make it for a much longer stay.
This was a wonderful weekend for 6 ladies! Lots of room at this historic get away. Host and hostess were very happy to help with anything we might need, but it was so well stocked, with many extras, that we did not need to call. Even though there were only 2 bedrooms, the pull outs were comfortable. Surprised at how nice and warm it was, not at all drafty! Could not have asked for better room for making meals, playing games at the large table, and visiting, watching videos, in the living area. Loved it! Thanks for a great stay!
What an interesting and unique property! This is a converted one-room schoolhouse that has all the modern amenities and comforts of home. There are ample refurbished artifacts in and around the home from a time gone by - including albums of class lists and assignments, newspaper clippings, teacher contracts and pictures of what once was. I even caught my 11 year old daughter - who has shown a decided preference for electronics - looking through the albums. Apart from all of the history - the house was clean and Richard and Lisbeth were wonderful, responsive and accommodating hosts. I recommend this house enthusiastically and will definitely stay here again when in the area.
The numerous amenities, open layout, comfortable living spaces and cleanliness made this trip so enjoyable for the whole family. Our hosts really went above and beyond to make the stay stress-free. The kitchen was very functional and made for great, family dinners without the need to go out. We recommend this location and would return again!
Beautiful place full of history and nestled in the forest. Quiet place with awesome ambiance, open concept floor plan and close to town, the river, hiking trails and downhill skiing. Dick and Lisbeth were wonderful and very accommodating, will definitely stay with them again.
This is a very cool place to stay. How often do you get to stay in a 100+ year old school house? Our kids loved it because it was so different. Everything is updated nicely. They kept some of the original effects and the school house has a lot of charm. We found the age and condition of the building endearing. It was very comfortable and had everything we needed to feel at home. It is all wood and tile floors so our only recommendation is to pack some slippers in colder months.
Owners have carefully preserved LaCrosse and American school house history by thoughtfully providing an opportunity to experience history up close. Our kids enjoyed the desks and chalkboard and imagining how school used to be in one room. I enjoyed the preserved history of the school house throughout the inn.
Warm and inviting owners who were easy to communicate with. All amenities our family could want (kids ages 2-16). Very clean considering itâs a historic building. Comfortable accommodations and looking forward to staying again. So many hiking trails and beautiful views not far from the inn!
We came to La Crosse for a car event and were looking for a relaxing private space. This home was ideal. Checking in and out could not have been easier, and the property was as clean as an operating room. The historical touches made it a cut above places we normally stay at. The owners have provided many historical references that really put this one room schoolhouse in perspective. It was truly one of the best stays we have had. Cannot reccomend it enough.
We stayed at the Wilson Schoolhouse Inn during our stay in La Crosse for the State Dart tournament. Location was about 12 minutes from the La Crosse Center and was very convenient location. The schoolhouse itself was really cool and interesting. Well stocked with everything we needed and the owners were great about communication.
I would stay here again without hesitation, really enjoyed it.
My family, my parents, my sister and my niece enjoyed our stay at the Wilson Schoolhouse while exploring LaCrosse. Much fun was had! The Schoolhouse was spacious and easily accommodated all of us. The wide open kitchen, dining and living room space was the best. The woodwork, trim, ceiling and large windows showcased the craftsmanship of the original build. We recommend this location for families looking for lodging in the LaCrosse area. Cheers!
