Spacious holiday villa that can accommodate a large group, private yet without being isolated. Shops nearby. Glorious views, superb facilities.

The villa has AIR Conditioning in all the house.

Notes on accommodation:

- Peaceful village location with superb views

- Spacious Villa fully eqquiped with Private pool, Veranda, barbecues, Internet, Games room

- 6 x 12 meter swimming POOL has a diving board

- Extensive grounds with lawned areas, mature fruit trees, and a small river running through the bottom of the property

- Extremely large GAMES ROOM with table tennis, pool table and table football.

- LOCAL TENNIS COURT, basketball and football pitch just 5 minutes walk, free and available at all times

- The city of PORTO, with its fascinating wine lodges is only 30 minutes drive, or take a train - they are very inexpensive

- Nearest golf course is 25 minutes drive, close to Amarante

- If you want it is possible to get a cooker lady to cook Portuguese typical dishes

Outside:

- The lower level has a traditional Portuguese OVEN, plus LARGE BBQ.

- Plentiful outside furniture on the VERANDA´S and around the POOL, including sun umbrella's.
The 6 x 12 meter swimming pool has a diving board at the deep end, which is 2 meters deep. Shallow end being just over a meter in depth. The POOL area has sunshine from morning until night.

- The large front veranda makes a pleasant venue for drinks, eating, or simply relaxing and enjoying the views into the valley, alternately to keep an eye on those in the pool. Parking and turning space for several vehicles, with lockable gate.

- Because of the size of the grounds there are many places of interest to explore, or just sit under one of the many TREES .

- Local football pitch just 5 minutes walk, free and available the most of the time.

- There is a very good mini-supermarket 2 minutes drive away, or a short walk.

A relaxing, comfortable house with a lot to do

Comfortable, plenty of space, clean, excellent host. It was a relaxing environment with excellent views, but the pool and games room meant there was plenty to do. We were on a stag do so relaxing have a bbq whilst gearing up for another night out in Porto helped. Also, great for families.

Portuguese palace

There were 6 adults and 8 children staying here for a week and it was fabulous . Oscar and Miguel were fantastic hosts and looked after us so well. The house is excellent and the little village nearby is quaint. Penafiel is a bigger town, about 15 minutes away. This is a terrific place to stay for a large group , highly recommended .

Lovely stay in Penafiel

Our group of 10 enjoyed our stay in Penafiel. The property is beautiful - gorgeous sunset, nice pool and a friendly neighbourhood cat. The kitchen has everything that one would need, although it could use a larger kitchen sink! We loved the outdoor bbq and pizza oven. The owner communicated well with us. We highly recommend taking the owner up on the offer to have the Portuguese cook to whip up some excellent Portuguese fare.

A great week away

A great week in Portugal. This property is perfect for families, big pool, big games room, vast gardens and very good kitchen and BBQ. It is also easy to visit Porto for the day with a train station 10 mins walk away. The owners Miguel and George were excellent hosts. Meeting us on arrival and being very accessible during the week checking everything was ok and suggesting good places to visit in the local area. We will be back!

We had a lovely 2 weeks at this wonderful property. We were 11 travellers ranging from 19 to 83 years old. The house had everything we wanted and we all loved the facilities. Whether you just want to sit and admire the view, use the pool or have table tennis or pool competitions, this house was perfect for everyone! Miguel was a fantastic host and was very attentive and quick to reply to our questions. We were very appreciative of his quick response to an incident we had one morning with the issue being resolved swiftly. Miquel gave us many recommendations. We particularly enjoyed the sunset cruise on the River Douro organised by his brother. We would highly recommend this house for a wonderful holiday. We could easily have stayed for a month!

This is a beautiful location in the hills accessible to Porto. Spacious property. We appreciated the decent-sized pool, the fruit trees and the games room. Communication with the owners was excellent and Miguel was always very helpful. The property is15+ minutes walk to the train station. Bolt taxis are not expensive. So we found this worked well without hiring a car. Lovely holiday.

Wonderful Holiday

The Villa was brilliant, very well equipped for 13 of us and absolutely massive plenty of space for all of us , the games room was a massive hit and we spent many evenings playing tournaments and enjoying a drink or two. The air conditioning was very much needed and in every room. The pool area was lovely the only negative I have to say about the villa is the pool area and terrace needs more soft chairs and sun beds, there was only 6 sun beds for 13 of us so needed to invest in Lilo’s to use instead. Miguel was very helpful and always checked in with us, overall a great family place to stay and I would highly recommend to others Thank you Miguel

13 family members from 11 to 75, all agree it was great!

It was a great location for our extended family. Miguel provided detailed ideas for areas to explore and we took advantage of a Duoro sunset river cruise that was stunning! The "kids" (11-25) engaged in a ferocious competition including foosball, ping pong and billiards. Swimming pool w salt water was refreshing (though slightly dirty), grounds with multiple fruit trees were fun to explore. AC was not functioning in one room and suboptimal in another, AC repair was unsuccessful, but fans were rapidly procured by Miguel. Dinner next to the Roman Aqueducts in Bustelo was incredible. Walked the cobblestone streets every morning (shared between bike, car and pedestrian, but relatively quiet). Explored Oporto, Regua, & joined Branco Noite on our last night in Panafiel (festival on July 1!-music, fireworks, parades, ice cream!).

Magnificent property outside of Porto

Our group had a lovely stay at this expansive property. We were greeted warmly by the host and showed around the house. When we walked the grounds we discovered an impressive waterfall a quick hike away, and citrus trees. The kitchen had a juicer so we were able to have fresh orange juice every morning to go with our finds from the local bakery. The kitchen is fully stocked, which made it easy to feed our large group. There were plenty of sleeping options for our group of 10. Two of the bedrooms have balconies with amazing views of the valley and one of the balconies is quite large and has a table. All the outdoor spaces had chairs and tables available so that you could enjoy every part of this magnificent property. It wasn’t the right season for the pool, but we are looking forward to coming back when we take advantage of it! The kids loved the pool, ping pong and foosball table available in the basement. The game room was the perfect place to spend a rainy day. The area has a ton of interesting and beautiful sights and there was a nearby train station for day trips to Porto and the Douro Valley. We couldn’t have picked a better house for our base to explore the region!

A giant place very well furnished

We loved our stay in Penafiel, the house is huge, the pool is awesome and there's a lot of room for everybody. The ping pong table was much much appreciated.

Une magnifique maison très spacieuse

Nous avons passés un séjour superbe dans la maison de Miguel en famille. Nous étions 15 personnes et la maison est très bien adaptée pour un grand groupe. Elle est très spacieuse, les chambres aussi et la literie est de qualité. Présence de nombreuses salles de bain ! Idéal pour éviter les bouchons le matin. Maison très propre à notre arrivée. Equipements nombreux (piscine avec portail fermé, cuisine extérieure, barbecue, salle de jeux ...). Jardin et verger attenant agréable pour une balade matinale et déguster les fruits si la saison le permet. Enfin, la situation est assez bonne pour rayonner entre Porto, le Douro... Maison spacieuse, beau jardin et salle de jeux

Cette maison spacieuse vous séduira par son emplacement (vue sur une vallée). Propreté irréprochable. Son jardin luxuriant vous permet de vous mettre au vert. Fin octobre, la piscine non chauffée, ne nous a pas permis d'en profiter. Mais la salle de jeux a largement compensé ce manque et a permis aux petits et aux grands de partager de bons moments de convivialité.

Fantastisk hus

Vi var to familer med mange børn(7 børn i alle aldre) som havde en fantastisk efterårsferie i huset. Miguel arrangerede sågar en kok der kom og lavede hjemmelavet portugisisk mad, en stor oplevelse. Varm anbefaling herfra. Huset ligger tæt på infrastruktur så det er nemt at komme rundt i landet samt ind til Porto.

wonderful holiday

There were ten of us staying at the villa and we had a fantastic week. The villa is beautiful, set in stunning grounds and with a lovely swimming pool. All the rooms were attractive and had air con and the bathrooms clean and well equipped. We had several barbecues and there were different areas for sitting dependent on whether you wanted sun or shade. The grown up kids really enjoyed the games room which is huge and played table football , pool and table tennis. Large supermarket only fifteen minutes away and Porto town about forty minutes to drive to. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to anyone visiting the Porto region

Super !

Nous avons passé une superbe semaine dans cette maison. Tous était parfait Nous étions 7 adultes et 8 enfants. La maison est très grande, propre et au calme. Il y a de la place pour tout le monde et si quelqu'un veut un petit moment tranquille, pas de problème pour s'isoler. Chambres propres avec sdb pour chacune.Cuisine parfaitement équiper ( il manquerait peut-être un petit congélateur pour les glaces, glaçons, etc). La piscine est grande et parfaitement adaptée pour les groupes. Les enfants ont aussi adoré la salle de jeux. Je remercie les propriétaires pour leurs conseils et leur gentillesse.

A wonderful house for great holidays!

Casa Amarela is a really spacious house with a big pool and a fascinating garden. We loved to spent the time in the pool or in the room with different games (table tennis, tabletop football and pool billard). The house was very well equipped and there were also enough dishes, glasses and cutlery for many people. The owner, Oscar, and his son Miguel were really fantastic - they welcomed us very kindly and were always interested in making our stay as comfortable as possible. They gave us good recommendations - which places to visit or what kind of activities were offered around the area. When there was the need for anything, Oscar and Miguel helped right away: one sunshade broke down - the next day we got a brand new one. We already look forward to spent another holiday at Casa Amarela.

Fantastische week in een prachtige villa

Zeer geslaagde week in een villa die geheel compleet was. Alle ruime kamers voorzien van goede bedden, een eigen badkamer en een eigen airco; laatste was zeer welkom met het hete weer. Voldoende handdoeken en ander linnengoed aanwezig. Heel ruime keuken voorzien van alle apparatuur en voldoende koelruimte voor ons gezelschap, inclusief vriezer. Audio -en televisie apparatuur ook prima. Ruime zitkamer voorzien van heerlijke banken en ook nog een eetkamer. Vanwege het mooie weer hebben we die nauwelijks gebruikt. Nog een grote benedenverdieping die we nauwelijks hebben gebruikt met goed biljart, tafeltennistafel en tafelvoetbal. Huis voorzien van een hele mooie ruime veranda die we elke ochtend en avond hebben gebruikt voor ontbijt en avondeten en om zo maar lekker te zitten met prachtig uitzicht over de omgeving; bij mooi weer een mooie zonsondergang. Goed werkende barbecue en daarnaast een pizza oven om heerlijke pizza's te bakken. Ook het zwembad was heerlijk met veel ruimte er om heen om lekker te zonnen na een heerlijke duik. Zwembad voorzien van zuiveringsinstallatie, bleef dus lekker schoon. Rondom de villa nog veel ruimte en groen met fruitbomen waar we de vruchten af mochten halen. Een buitengewoon vriendelijke en behulpzame eigenaar die niets te veel was om te vertellen of te regelen, ook reistips. Tip: vraag via de eigenaar of dat iemand vanuit het dorp een diner wil verzorgen met lokale gerechten, bij ons was dat een groot succes. In de omgeving is ook voldoende te zien, te beleven. Markt in Paredes is mooi , veel kleding. Ook in Penafiel een markt, wat kleiner. Ook andere plaatsen in de omgeving bezocht, inclusief wijngaard waar port wordt gemaakt. Bezoek aan Porto ook zeer de moeite waard, één dag is eigenlijk te weinig. Tip: neem vanuit Penafiel de trein naar Porto, voor een klein bedrag kom je op het hoofdstation midden in Porto. Ruim 40 minuten reistijd. In het kort: een prachtig huis niet ver van Porto (ruim 40 minuten met de auto) in een prachtige rustige omgeving waar veel te zien is met Porto zelf als hoogtepunt.

We are father and son of a family of five.

I am a 69 years old, retired from Portugal Telecom. My younger son, Miguel, is 35, graduated in the Biomedical Area and is searching for a job.
Meanwhile he is managing this business and we are happy to share the villa with our guests.

Why this property?

1. Our dream was to have a big house with a lot of space. Specially a pool big enough with diving board and a lot of space to walk around with fruit trees, vineyards, a little streamer ...

2. We chose this location because it is strategic positioned between Oporto city and the Douro Region.

3. Finally we were looking for a rural area that was calm and safe and near from our main house in Maia.
