Beautiful secluded cabin right on the water. Views from every room, outdoor space to eat and hang out, and swimming just steps from the door. It felt like we had the whole lake to ourselves!
The owner was very responsive throughout and getting in was reasonably easy. The interior of the home was more pleasant than expected, with great views. Unfortunately, the exterior suffered from problems with flying insects and seaweed/algae. The flying insects didn't bite, but they were very numerous, very attracted to sources of light such as from inside the house, and attracted spiders that set up their webs around the doors and windows. The beach was completely covered with seaweed/algae making it unusable, and at times (not always) the smell was so bad that we couldn't spend time outside. In speaking with other renters in the area, these issues seemed to be common, and perhaps could be expected by those familiar with the area. Overall, we were happy with the rental and the area in general.
Totally enjoyed our stay at the lakehouse, Scott was a great host and the property was clean and had everything required for a comfortable stay. Will be back next year for sure.
Scott was great responding to an issue we had. House had everything we needed. Stayed with my son and his girlfriend and two dogs. Games were great to have. Would recommend
The property was fine. The outside stairs should be reinforced. A hose to wash the sand off your foot would be easy to install and useful to keep the house clean.Kitchen is tight, ceilings are low. This didn't bother us but might be a problem for someone else. Scott was very responsive and nice enough to let us check in early and checkout late (for a very reasonable fee to cover a different cleaning crew).Obviously we booked this lake front property because we wanted easy access to the water without having to pack up two small children and all the stuff required to take them to the beach. But unfortunately the shore and at least 10' of water was covered with algae. I tried to shovel it but it just came back. Wading through the algae meant it stuck to me when I got out. It also smells but that was the least of my concerns. In the welcome package the algae is mentioned and Scott called me ahead of time to give me a heads up. But it wasn't mentioned in the listing so I didn't think it would be a big deal. The cottage sits in a cove so the algae accumulates there. You can walk along the shore for about 10 minutes to a nice public beach. But we couldn't do it with kids. Driving meant finding parking which we did. We also biked but that limited us to what we could carry. Overall a disappointment because I didn't plan or want to have to deal with the logistics of loading and unloading everything. Otherwise we would have stayed somewhere nicer/cheaper off the water.
Impression of the property- disappointed. Understanding that we are on the lake, many things seemed to be not cleaned well. There were spider webs all over the home. We found old coffee grounds in the coffee pot. We had to brush off leaves/debris from the patio. There were no cushions provided on the chairs, and the ones that did have cushions were all torn. We were mostly disappointed with the water entry area. The owner reached out the morning of arrival, receiving details and apologizing for the algae that had come into the cove. We understood, but upon arrival, you could tell this had not been an overnight/couple day problem, the algae had clearly been there for some time as it was layers deep and covering the entire beach/stone to access the water. Also, finding out from locals the algae had been here for over a month. The owner was very prompt responding to my emails Friday, but when we voiced our concerns Saturday, we never heard back. I still have not received a response. Itâs disheartening to know the owner did not notify us well in advance so we would have the option to cancel if we chose to, and then never acknowledge our email when trying to have a conversation about our stay. We overall did like the quietness of the area and this place does have potential, but I would not recommend during the late summer if you are looking for somewhere with beach access for the kayak/magic carpet. The stairs to the lower patio are installed poorly as well. Air very stinky.
