Mediterranean Escape: Cabin 4, Renovation Resort Season 1 Winner!
The Mediterranean Escape is a beautiful serene getaway. Waterfront on the Trent River, this bright and airy cottage was the winning cabin on HGTVâs Renovation Resort Season 1. The cottage sleeps 9 guests in 3 bedrooms and has an office space and home gym with a breathtaking view of the river. Mediterranean Escape features a private sauna and dock. It is on a private road with 6 other cabins that share a beach and fire pit. Mediterranean Escape is available for booking May through October.
The cabin is wonderfully done. Lotâs of space for 2 families as the kids room has 2 bunks and a trundle bed allowing for 5 in that room. Only drawback is that the dock at this cabin is different from the other 4 and there is no ladder to get in the water to swim. Cabinâs are close together but still feel private. Shared fire pit is nice to meet neighbours. Also there is very little boat traffic allowing for a more quiet area then some other waterfront rentals.Ron, the property manager was a great host on site.
Cabin 4 was enjoyed by our party. The space is great, it's very stylish and it comes equipped with what you need for a comfortable stay including a BBQ, washer/dryer, dishwasher and a kitchen with all that you need. Our kids enjoyed the bunk beds and we were using the sauna daily, a great bonus when you stay here. There is one drawback being the dock, it is smaller than the other cottages and does not have a ladder which makes it unsuitable for swimming. We ended up making friends with the family in cabin 5 and they graciously let our family use their dock for swimming, it would have been quite disappointing should we not have been able to. The lawn also has a lift post for the dock which is somewhat of a trip hazard, again different from the other cabins.
Beautiful accommodations that included bedding, utensils, towels and cooking supplies. The house itself is beautiful. The beach is private for the 5 rentals on the river however its very small. There is a communal firepit for all the rentals to use. The rental properties are closer than expected to eachother but overall great experience.
A great week to start our summer with the family! The location was easy to get to from Toronto. A mere 2hr drive away. Grocery stores were 6-12mins drive from the cabin. Thankfully, the kitchen was fully stocked with most of the tools, even seasonings/herbs you need for cooking and baking. So all you really need to bring are just food to cook/bake/bbq.
There is no denying that the Mediterranean Escape cabin is beautiful. The kids loved their room and spent majority of their days in there when we were hit with heavy rain for a couple of days. The bedroom downstairs was convenient for my in laws who has troubles getting up and down the stairs.
I hope that my boys and nephew remembers when they're older, the memories they made during our stay there.
The river water was cool, clean and refreshing. Perfect for jumping and swimming in. Make sure you paddleboard to the tiny island with a tree, unless you have Ornithophobia. Otherwise, it was a great experience seeing those large nests with grey cranes.
There were nights that were just magical. Making s'mores by the fire were even more enchanted by the fireflies twinkling around us, and lighting the way back to our cabin. When everyone were asleep, I would lay on the floor in the gym and watch the night sky through the big window. Saw a few shooting stars in the stillness of the night.
Overall, our whole family would love to stay at the Mediterranean Escape again and add more summer memories in the books!
