The Neighborhood:
If you come to us from interstate or overseas then again, welcome to our city! We hope you enjoy it 😊. There is so much to do in and around Melbourne and there is heaps to be found online but I just wanted to mention a few of our favourite things to do in case you are interested.
1. South Melbourne Market:
The South Melbourne Market is known throughout Victoria for its many shops and amazing food! It is less than 10 minutes’ walk away and well worth a visit for a shop or meal!
2. Restaurants and pubs:
We are spoilt in this area. Yes, that is a pub next door, and they do a fantastic steak! There are amazing pubs and restaurants all around, The Station Hotel next door is nice and relaxed with an open fire and a court yard- great place to watch the footy. A little further is The Montague which is perhaps a little more upmarket but still nice and relaxed and a great place for a meal and beer. Pubs and restaurants are really everywhere and they are all really nice.
3. Port Melbourne beach:
It may not seem like it but the beach is just a 20 minute walk! Port Melbourne Beach is one of Melbourne’s finest with heaps of sand, a fun playground, freezing cold water and lots of shops and cafes! Worth a visit.
4. St Kilda:
Head across the road and jump on the light rail for a few stops to find yourself in the bustling St Kilda! Whether it’s the shop and cafes of Acland Street that draw you or the fun of the beach and Luna Park, St Kilda is always a blast!
5. Parks and Gardens:
The stunning St Vincent’s gardens are a 5-minute walk and they’re lovely. You’ll see manicured gardens, lawn bowls and tennis courts as well and fun playgrounds and space for the kids to run! There are many other parks all around us, just go for a wander and see what you can find.
6. Melbourne:
The number one tram has a stop just 2-3 minutes’ walk away it will take you straight to Federation Square! From there you can access everything Melbourne has to offer! Sports, shows, shopping… the list is endless and so accessible. Southbank on the Yarra is also only about a 15-minute walk from the house 😊
I could talk for days about what we have to offer but I also know that much of it is now at your fingertips online, but I hope you consider some of the above suggestions as we think they’re great.
