Host was hard to get a hold of. House is bare bones with limited amenities. Generally dirty. But very cool location

It was lacking a few bach comforts. Like tea or coffee etc, beds very clean ,views amazing and a great place for 8 people.

what a great place to stay

We absolutely loved our stay here on top of Wellington! It was clean and tidy, with a relaxed, lived-in feel that just added to the charm. The design is super cool, with a stylish 80s vibe that gives the place so much character. It’s incredibly spacious, making it a comfortable and relaxing stay. But the real highlight? The views. Absolutely unbeatable! Looking out over Wellington from this spot was just breathtaking. If you’re after a place with great value, loads of style, and a unique atmosphere, this is it. Would definitely stay again!

Beautiful views

We enjoyed the views and space of the home. The parking/garage was confusing but Dave was available by phone right away to help us. My husband left his prescription glasses at the property and Dave kindly mailed them back to us.

Great view

The property has a great view. It is important you go prepared as there is nothing available in the kitchen for example salt and pepper etc. Linen is not commercially laundered and we had to wash the towels as they were smelly, there were no hand towels provided. The property was not clean and very musty.

Wow girlfriends catch up weekend

The property smelt musty - the views were incredible - the state of the property was very tired - the beds were comfortable. The towels were old, a little smelly and needed a refresh. It would have been nice to be supplied tea, coffee and milk and more toilet paper. Some cleaning products, hand soap and cleaning rags would have been nice too. The weather in Wellington was stunning for the first 2 days and the view from the home was just stunning - waking up too - it was pretty scary in a 5.7 earthquake

Disappointed

The property was run down, the kitchen cupboards were hard to close, the dish cloth was dirty and smelled awful. The property was not cleaned, there was hair stuck in the drains of the main shower, power points in the kitchen were broken. The garage was dirty, dusty and full of stuff like old mattress and wood, we found it hard to park our car. The only thing that this property had going for it was the view. My family and I were glad to leave. Not impressed at all.

Should not be listed for rent

This property should not be a rental vacation home. Ihave rented with VRBO for years and NEVER had this experience. The only star is for the views, but otherwise, it is disgusting. We arrived to a house that was grimy and had the most unpleasant musty, moldy odor. I don't think it is just the carpet (which was heavily stained everywhere), there may be mold damage elsewhere, including the walls. The furniture, bedding, and towels had bugs and stains. The bathrooms did not look clean. It was so uncomfortable that we immediately checked out and got a hotel.

Good Pricing and location

the house is close to city and good location. Just that we are not use to the narrow and windy road and the parking around that area. Hence a bit stressful to drive around the area. The house is a bit of age I think. Recommend to have some do up (e.g the front door mail box area been broken may grant access to people to unlock door from outside). Kitchen has new stove and oven but the cupboard and surroundings need a bit of doing up. The rooms are nice and warm to sleep. House felt a bit damp initially but there are lots of heaters warming up the place and we are happy about it. We enjoyed the grand piano in the house as well. It is well priced and Dave is very responsive to our query and helpful.

Good for family

Great view of the house but doesn't come with instructions. We love the double glazing and makes the house nice and cozy. Dave is great to deal with and promptly replies to any issues and resolves them so quickly! Furniture is dated with one ripped dining chair. The kitchen is not the best because of the dirty range hood and trails of oil running down the white wall. Paid a $50 fee to put our luggage early and can only come to the house an hour earlier than the check-in time. If you are suffering from anxiety, don't worry about not getting any information about the house 3 days before your arrival as the Book a Bach website indicated. It will come an hour before your check-in time.

DISGUSTING couldnt stay there it was so bad!!!!

This was the most disgusting place I have ever booked, actually had to go to a hotel it was so bad. Broken furniture, dust so thick you could write your name in it, dirty oven, beds looked slept in. Bathroom sinks had toothpaste spit in them, mold and grime built up on window tracks. But the worst thing was the smell it was so overwhelming we couldn't stay, it smelled of damp rising so musty. Owner trying to say it is sunshine on the carpet can't say I have ever had sunshine on the carpet create a smell of any kind? Im not a person to make too much fuss so if it was just a little dust and marks on walls, it wouldn't bother me but the smell makes me wonder if it has mold issues somewhere. The shower had mold in the corners as well. We had to go and find somewhere else to stay which was stressful as long weekend. The photos look amazing but the photos don't show the grime nor can they prepare you for the smell!!!!!

Top of the world

We stayed here 5 nights, all communication was responded promptly. Place was clean and tidy, had a bit of a musty smell on arrival but opened up the windows and bi folding doors to get some air flow through then it was fine. You really are on the top of the world with the beautiful views from all rooms. Big dining table and lounge area. Kitchen is adequate but would be better with a few more mixing/serving bowls, the oven tray and roasting dish was found on the last day under the sink cupboard, would of been nice if they were stored in the oven as we cooked here our Christmas dinner. Extra linen is in the cupboard behind the laundry door, it’s a big house with lots of cupboards so you have to go looking for stuff when needed. Showers were great and beds were fine.. they didn’t give any of us sore backs. We would stay here again for the $350 a night we paid, but wouldn’t pay anymore than that. It’s an older but comfortable home with a nice feel to it. We always had a park outside on the street parking. Thanks Dave.

Enormous Potential - with a little work

This property is stunning. A million dollar view for sure. Positives first: the two full baths were generally clean and nicely appointed. The wall mounted heaters and heated towel racks were a nice touch as we stayed in winter. The place is spacious, and has a very "Mediterranean Villa" feel to it. The dining area adjacent to the kitchen is a wonderful place to enjoy a morning cup of coffee or an evening meal, as you overlook Wellington Bay. Now for the negatives. The kitchen was a mess when we arrived. Dinnerware, cookware, and utensils all needed to be cleaned before using. The kitchen counters and cabinets all needed to be wiped down. The range hood was unusable and should be replaced. Only half of the toaster operated properly, and the hot water pot leaked when water was put into it. The carpeting in the place was stained in numerous places, and is pretty worn. I would recommend tearing it out as I speculate that it is the source of the mustiness others described in reviews and we experienced as well. Hard flooring would be a better option for a rental. The place had not been properly cleaned in a while. Searching for the TV remote revealed lots of crumbs in the couch, and items easily picked up by a vacuum were discovered lying on the floor. Numerous lights were out. This place would be spectacular if a little more attention to detail was paid. a nice touch as

The host did not communicate until the day we were due to arrive and only after I tracked down a phone number deep within VRBO. He knew nothing of my rental which had been booked a week before. He said the property I booked (3 bedroom, 2 bath) was not available due to property damage. He had a different property (2 bedroom, 1 bath) across the street from the beach that he said would be as comfortable and would work for 5. As we were a couple hours out of town with a toddler, we decided to trust him and accept the change. The cot for the toddler was so uncomfortable, they would not sleep in it. The refrigerator was next to the bathroom, not in the area considered a kitchen. The living space for 5 was a small room with one wall being the kitchen - a sink and a stove, with a portable under the sink dishwasher. There was a dining room table, a couch, and two stools that were dangerous to sit on. The stairs up to the flat had no handrail. The two bedrooms were small. The room with the cot would not allow any movement in the room once the cot was used. For the most part the rooms were clean aside from the shower which was rather moldy looking around the grout on the floor of the shower. We were not there long enough to even shower. The location was amazing! My mistakes - cancel if host is not responsive and handle all changes via VRBO! Had to leave and now trying to resolve with VRBO.
