We had a lovely weekend up north in this seaside bach. Janice and Derek have created a beautiful place to put your feet up, look out at the beautiful view and unwind from your busy lives. The place was easy to find and communication was great leading up to our stay. Even though we experienced wet weather it still felt like an oasis and weâd highly recommend this Bach to anyone visiting northland.
The property was at the back and underneath the main family house, whereas we had assumed from the photos that it was a stand-alone bach. It was quite basic with an outdoor cooking area (which didn't bother us because we weren't cooking there) but might if you stayed any length of time. The veranda, garden and views were lovely, and the host kind and friendly. A little overpriced for what you get.
Just a greatbplacebthevoutdoor cooking was great. Location brilliantThe beach is a littlle walk andvdegintkey need sandels or reef shoes. Somevcaution is needed as the current is strong so be aware also a lot of rocks. Overall a cool place we will be back
Fab location to explore the WhangÄrei area from. So peaceful but in close proximity to shops if needed. Very comfy beds. Clean andTidy. Appreciated the little touches like milk, tea, coffee, cooking oil, salt & pepper etc.
It was very difficult to find as the owners did not give us an address just all these complicated directions. Had we had the actual address wouldn't have been a problem.
We really enjoyed the accomodation out of the hustle and bustle of town. A well set up self contained unit under main house with a decent amount of space to spread out inside and lovely garden surrounds. The hosts were great. It's only a short walk down to the coast through the forest.
I travelled with my granddaughter and we stayed 10 days in Janice' wonderful and well-equipped apartment (1 separate bedroom. The unit sleeps for all in all). The kitchen was stuffed with almost everything necessary and it was a great experience to all cooking outside on the shaded veranda (induction cooker and gas grill).Janice and her family gave us a very warm welcome. She herself is very attentive. There is only 1 negative fact to mention: The very steep path down to the beach. For me, unfortunuately rather old and handicapped, it was undoable and I had to let the pleasure to go swimming in the bay to the younger ones Thank you Janice and Derek. Gregor and Johanna
Beautiful part of the country. Noisier than expected from children in the main house above. Slow to heat up. Easy access to walking tracks and beaches. Close to city with it's cafes and restaurants.
Amazing location and Janice is a great host. The beach access takes you to a secluded section of beach, the path is pretty steep in places so it wouldn't be easy to navigate with mobility issues but otherwise it's not very far and very convenient. The accommodation itself was modern and tidy and the beds are comfortable. There is also a dog named Rosie who is very cute! Thanks for the great stay!
We had a wonderful week at this little batch. Our teen son enjoyed the space in the living room to claim as his own and we enjoyed the private large master bedroom with breathtaking views. I read another comment describing it as a basement flat and this was helpful as I knew it wasnât detached and we were prepared for main house sounds (just the occasional walking up and down stairs). It was so peaceful, loved picking the fruit, walk to the beach or a quick drive to any of the other many stunning beaches. Full sized fridge so we stocked up in town and cooked up of a night and ate out on the deck. Itâs the most relaxed Iâve ever seen our son (very much a home body) on holidays. Thanks so much for a wonderful week.
Ocean Beach is a must. Perfect weekend getaway. The accomodation is 5*. The little touches are just above and beyond. Even a Nespresso coffee machine! We would love to stay again. My only suggestion for cleaning was dust, but the bathroom was spotless.
