Newly Refurbished as of September 2023. 1930s Cottage, wood fire, lovely high ceilings, beautiful fully enclosed back yard, and lockable indoor dog enclosure, just a walk to parks, river ramble and heritage walk, town centre, heritage park, Markets, and a short drive to wineries, beaches!
My friend and I stayed 2 nights and it was pleasant enough. The cottage takes you back in time as it's furnishings are a mix of different vintage eras. Bedding very comfortable and the home neat and clean. As it was quite warm while we were there we were grateful for the many fans and aircon provided though if you open the back door and front door and a few windows the house cools down pretty quick with the breeze. Shower was good but the hot water storage is quite small so if there were more than 2 people you would really have to take short showers to ensure enough hot water for everyone. We were mindful of this so we didn't run out and were able to space out our showers. We didn't have a dog but still couldn't find the "lockable dog door" so best to check with owner on that before you bring a dog, but the back yard is spacious and fully fenced. Netflix is provided so that was great, but I agree with others who mentioned that another chair in the lounge would be good idea especially if more than 2 people stay. Yes there are possums up in the roof that woke us up early hours of the morning with their screams so that was a major down side! There isn't much in the town but we had a couple of good meals at the local Tavern which was a short walk from the Cottage.
For budget accommodation it was acceptable. Furniture a little worn, with some maintenance required on fixtures in kitchen etc. beds were comfortable.Previous occupants foodstuffs should be removed and fresh tea and coffee bags would have been appreciated.
The house and stay was just what we wanted .The main bed however was not comfortable at all sadly. The milk and bread and biscuits were a warming touch.
Very happpy with cottage. Very comfortable home and had everything you could possibly need. Lovely location and very clean. Even came with free loquats. If ever down that way again, would defintely hope to stay there.
Cottage was well equipped. Bathroom was very cold as the only heater was in the lounge. Possums were very active during the night!! Bed was comfortable and water was hot for shower etc. Overall the cottage suited us for a few days away from the city with easy drive to Bunbury and Busselton.
Toilet dirty and full of spider webs and dead insects. There are rodents in the roof space of the property. We were woken up at 5am. With animals fighting and scurrying in the roof space. No coffee in the kitchen and popcorn provided was nibbled by mice probably.
BADNo gas for bbq, stove starter didnt work and no matches available, microwave did not work, rats or possums in the roof and walls, overgrown lawn, blood stains on bed underlay. GOODHot water was very much appreciated after a long bike ride.
Had a very enjoyable quiet stay at this quaint rustic old cottage. Fully fenced back yard was ideal for our medium sized dog. Great location and all amenities provided.
Quaint little cottage with everything you need for a couple of days stay. Aircon heating was lovely as a bit chilly during our stay. Lounge room could do with another chair as only a 2 seater couch. Very clean and close to shops and cafe.
Old expected, good bathroom toilet, clean comfortable linen on bed found not as clean in bedroom corners and lounge room, sofa old not comfortable difficulty getting up and down as im a senior person with mobility issues this was a big negative also slopping of floors in bedroom difficult for me as well. Appreciated rail in bathroom and non slip mat in shower. Height of toilet good again sloping floors towards back of house. Sloping step at back door also a problem for me. Big negative was entry to gate where you park car huge big puddle to walk through to unload car our feet were very wet before we even got into the house to settle in. Appreciated bread and milk being left and cake unfortunately, we are lactose intolerant and prefer brown bread had already visited local bakery and had brought cakes and pastries with us.
Nice old house. Good location. The only heater was in the living room. So the rest of the house was very cold. Toilet was a long way from main bedroom.
We decided to have a last minute get away to do some things in Bunbury, so needed a pet friendly location. House is cute and did the purpose of a short get away. Ellen the host allowed us to check in early which was lovely.
The bed in the main bedroom was the worst bed I have slept in , the mattress did not fit the frame and we had to prop up the right hand side of the mattress to level it.There were no dish cloths or tea towels. The house was set up to accommodate 4 people but only had lounge seating for 2.
The area was great close to many other ares of interest to us.Mentions recently refurbished in the advert for the property, I would disagree with this statement as some new flooring doesn't cover a refurbish in my take on the word. The kitchen cabinetry was very run down and very dirty interior shelving, lacking a full set of saucepans for cooking. 1 milkpan & lid 1 medium pan no lid in grubby condition. The lids on the kitchen and bathroom bins were filthy and the ragged net curtain in the bathroom would be better off being removed. I personally would prefer to pay a cleaning fee rather than feel the need to clean thing yourself on arrival, which I did. Just because the charge for a stay is a very reasonable price doesn't mean you expect dirt and grim thrown in for free. Some nice touches around the interior with vintage looking pictures, collection of old magazine and books.
