Shearers Quarters is a self contained cottage set in Chelston Farm. It is a unique slice of New Zealand farming history. It has a beautiful private outlook with the sights and sounds of the country. It is a unique opportunity to stay in a cottage with all the modern comforts and beautiful views. Close to native bush, abundant bird life and all grades of walking from the fit to the frail. Established gardens, wonderful elevated views out to sea. Absolute seclusion peace and natural beauty.

Awesome weekend in a peaceful wee spot. Oven could do with a deep scrub but other than that , thoroughly our time there.

Short break

Beautiful location looking out over the valley,lots of birds.Hosts were friendly.The shower was unfortunately dismal and the mattress really needs an update.It is a bit out of the way,and appreciated our host telling us to bring food etc

Quirky and rustic!

We loved our stay in this cottage, very reminiscent of an old Kiwi batch. The bed was very comfortable. The bird song and the views superb.

Stunning remote location for a weekend getaway and we loved every minute of it. Host Mike is very friendly, we would recommend this place to stay and will be back for sure :)

Great stay

Beautifully located area in port levy, very much enjoyed our stay with my partner and large bulldog. Mike was so helpful always knew where he was if we needed anything or had any questions but also gave us so much privacy and made us comfortable on our short stay, very easy to deal with and friendly will definitely be back!

4 days in the country

Peaceful farm stay in an awesome location. Loved hearing the birds in the bush nearby. Small & basic but had everything required to have a break away from the business of Christchurch city. The only downfall was the dismal shower. Very disappointing :(

Fantastic unplug from life

We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. Fantastic listening to the birds and nothing else. The view from the cottage over the valley is beautiful and if you are lucky enough to get some sun, it is the perfect spot to laze on the deck and enjoy tranquility. The owner is a lovely man and had some great tips for places to visit. The kitchen was basic but with everything we needed. The bed was super comfy and the shower was hot. If you want all mod cons this isn’t the place for you but if you want tranquility and lots of beautiful walks nearby, it absolutely is.

Perfect Paradise

An idyllic retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Perfect peace, void of the sound of traffic, just birdsong and a picturesque valley view. Congenial host. We will definitely stay again.

beautiful and quiet

The wee cottage is beautiful and peaceful - extremely dog friendly and welcoming. Sitting with morning coffee with the double doors wide open looking out at the valley and ocean in distance was bliss. We were surprised at how warm it was for the beginning of winter and Mike the owner is so easy going

Peaceful and relaxing - Take a good book and chill

We had a great time at Mike's place, very peaceful with bellbirds at the doorstep, and lovely walks only 10mins drive away. We will definately be back, thanks

Beautiful location

Quiet isolated property with a beautiful drive coming in, however exterior photos do not match the reality of the property, awesome building love the history could do with some tlc and we would definitely come back again

Most tranquil place I have ever stayed

This spot is amazing, the photos do not do it justice. We were spoilt with amazing weather, went for a short drive to port levy wharf and went for a swim. Property has everything you need with plenty of places to explore. Mike was great! Love your slice of paradise!
