Beautiful lakefront cottage for rent at Hillside Beach, MB. Conveniently situated just over an hour north of Winnipeg in the east beaches are on highway 59, 20’ past Grand Beach and 10’ before Victoria Beach. This beautiful 4 season cottage is a 1200 sq. ft. “A frame” with a wall of windows and doors overlooking Lake Winnipeg to the west. Kitchen and dining area overlook the large living room with fireplace all overlooking the lake. The euro style kitchen comes fully stocked with plenty of pots and pans, dishes, cutlery, utensils, baking dishes, casserole dishes, slow cooker, magic bullet, griddle, kettle, coffee maker, toaster, cutting boards, serving dishes and more. Appliances include slide in oven/stove in island, dishwasher, fridge, microwave and mini fridge. This large bungalow has a full washroom with laundry as well as a large outdoor shower. Features also include screened in porch which stays very cool, firepit, play structure, upper decks off the cottage on the lake side and the roadside for those windy days and also a lower deck directly over the beach/lake. There is a propane BBQ, and two car parking pad. Sleeps 6-8 with 1 king, 2 queen size beds and a bunkbed. Enjoy this cottage for summers in the sun and sand and winters are is perfect for snowmobiling, ice fishing, or just relaxing! Plenty of amenities and other beaches within a 10’ drive.

The location was wonderful and the place was perfect for a family with teens. We had everything we needed to cook and bbq. The grocery store was close. Overall a very relaxing vacation.

Cottage could probably use some maintenance, but overall it was clean and well equipped. I was happy that the rotten floor of the outdoor shower had been removed. I really enjoy that shower. As ever, we loved the deck that overlooks the lake. I will be renting again next year.

Property is not well maintained. Seems like the pictures are a few years old. Messy, unkempt outside, mold in the coffee pot. Not recommended unless major cleanup and repairs made. Location is lovely

You registered two adults and two children and then when I asked you about it said o my your son, wife and children went? This is against the rules and so unlikely to be true. The photos are accurate - I’ve been today and coffee pot looked fine so you must have used it - railings will be fixed this week but weed? Where in the woods? The place is NOT messy-we have a cleaner and she cleans between every guest. If you had a problem, you should have let me know day one not after.

Dont stay here

It has no ac, tv didnt work, wires and hazzards strewn around the whole cabin. Weirdly filled with alot of old stuff and kids toys, not clean.

This woman had her daughter phone immediately upon arrival to ask for the wifi code and complained about no ac when there is no wifi or ac offered-cell service is great. I asked what she wanted to do-she stayed for the rest of the stay and then left the cottage a disaster-I have photos from the cleaner from before with none of what the renter said was there - tv works, no wires, toys in cupboard, cottage was cleaned the day she arrived. In the end she could have left but chose to stay and complain-you can’t eat your cake and have it too. I would have been fine with you leaving and bot costing me 3x the cleaning cost.

Getaway for a week

Lovely cottage. Host has great communication. Everything you need. Teens and kids had a blast. We all loved the beach area spent whole day there weather was beautiful. Nothing beats looking out over the lake

Great getaway

We returned to the same property for a second time. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the beautiful lakefront property. We managed a nice balance of time with just the two of us, and visits from family and friends. Lake Winnipeg sunsets are magical, especially when views from the lakeside deck. The cottage is well-equipped and well-maintained.

Hillside Beach Relaxation

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property was spacious and well-appointed. Some things were lacking-no oven mitts, no working flashlights and few candles. (We had a five hour power outage) Drinking water and propane were not supplied. We could have avoided having to contact the owners regarding a couple of issues with the tv and dishwasher if there had been a binder of instructions provided-there was nothing. The owners were quick to respond to our concerns.

So much potential

This cabin is in an absolutely beautiful area. It was not very clean. Utensils and dishes were put away dirty. We pre washed anything we used. In fairness, we didn’t tell the property owner when we got there or during our stay as we were quite capable of cleaning it ourselves. However, once we did let the home owner know, we were basically told we weren’t be truthful. A very disappointing end to what was a wonderful get away.

Friend Getaway

This property has the perfect location on the water with easy access to a white sand beach where we paddle boarded with amazing views of the sunset from the deck overlooking the water and the deck on the cottage! This is the main reason we chose this property. The outside could use some maintenance like power washing and repainting of the decks and furniture, trimming of bushes and old trees to give an unobstructed view of the sunset and lake and replacing a missing railing on the back of the patio and a wobbly one going down the stairs. Some general clean up/yard maintenance could make this place even nicer. There was a rusty nail sticking up on the floor of the outdoor shower. This shower was handy to rinse off after the beach. The inside was clean and updated with comfortable beds and bedding, and plenty of fans All in all we enjoyed our girls reunion and the beautiful location on the water!

Great location but run down and safety issues

I stayed here with my family (myself, husband, kids age 4 and 1 and my parents age 60s) and it was not as pictured. The cabin outside needs a lot of maintenance like cutting back bushes and clean up of the furniture. The back deck is missing railings between levels and the hand rails are loose on the back deck and the one by the lake. The outside shower was also broken when we got there. The host did have that fixed but the wood base is very rotten and will likely fall down again. The inside isn’t much better. The place needs a deep clean and lots of repairs. The bedding was clean and the floors and some surfaces were cleaned before we got there but once you opened cabins, looked in corners and looked in the fridge you can see how much cleaning is needed. The screen door in the back was in rough shape and the tracks are filled with dirt. The screened in porch on the side is just filled with stuff, dirty and big holes in the screen. We also noted the fire extinguisher isn’t charged and wouldn’t work if you pulled the pin. We unfortunately had to deal with a medical emergency with my mom so we decided to stay at the cabin instead of going through the trouble of finding a new place. It’s a shame the property isn’t well kept because it’s a beautiful location on the water. Very nice views of sunsets and easy walk down to the beach.

I’m at the cottage now and have taken new photos and they are exactly as they were when I took them last time. I did put in a new railing above where there used to be a hot tub right below and I secured the hand rails better. But besides that, I’m really not sure what you are talking about. All cabinets and drawers (and corners) get cleaned between each guest. The fridge is also clean (I will post a pic of it for your benefit). The screen door was off its rollers-all you had to do was lift and set it back down. We have the windows cleaned once a year but when people leave the outside door open, flies go between the doors and I can’t get them out between each guest. As for the outside - the cottage is in the woods and there are bushes….what exactly should be cut back? The shower is now secured to the post and below it is deck so not sure how that will rot out or fall through-I also put a new photo of that up. A cottage might not be the right place for you if you thought there was anything wrong here. Alternatively, maybe look at the lake instead of in the corners. Regardless, it is absolutley beautiful here, the cottage is clean and ready for the next guests to enjoy it.

Loved the View !

The inside cottage was perfect. Beds and shower facilities were very nice. We had everything we needed in the kitchen! Lots of fans. The outside facilities had a few deficiencies but we managed to work around them and still had a fantastic trip. We were there to celebrate my mom's 88 Birthday and we loved every minute. We have to borrow a BBQ because the one there was filthy and rusted out. The host brought the replacement parts but we were in the middle of our Birthday Celebration. We only had one very hot day so didn't need to use the screened in porch but after seeing how dirty it was I never went in that area again. The filth grossed me out, being used for bike and toy storage. There were several safety deficiencies including a very poor railing on deck stairs leading down to the backyard and loose deck railings. One deck railing was completely missing. There was garbage on the property. I cleaned up a broken mirror on the walkway. There is a old umbrella thrown into the bushes. Three piles of garbage on the parking pad including an old hot tub. This was not a good first impression and made it hard to use the parking pad. The chairs on the beach deck needed a good pressure washing and we're not used because of that. I cleaned the bit of black off the Red chairs and they were good to go. We were happy to see sunsets bear, deer, pelicans, an eagle, a hawk and cute squirrels. Even with all the deficiencies, I would rent it again but I wouldn't bring my small children there.

I’m sorry the focus of your stay seemed to be the deficiencies that were part of cleaning up the property as opposed to the beautiful sunsets and scenery. The bbq would have been perfectly fine if you had let me replace the rusted heat deflectors I brought on your first afternoon there. I replaced them after your stay and the bbq was as good as new. The porch is an outdoor space, it doubles as bike, beach and outdoor toy storage which I’ve left there for the use of families with children. The table, chairs and carpet area new and clean but again, if you focus on the worst part then you lose out by not being able to use a cool, fly free space on hot evenings. This property might not be the best for an 88 year old birthday party as there are many stairs and decks of different levels. That being said, we raised our three children there who are now healthy and happy and in university. In the end, this property is a cottage, we try to do what we can to keep it as clean as possible inside. For the outdoors, we have a service that takes care of the lawn and yard but we don’t go looking in the bush for garbage so thank you for pointing out the umbrella, I will go retrieve it if I can find it on my next trip there. Even with the positive comments, we would not welcome this group back to our beloved cottage.
