Beaconstone Eco stay is ideally situated on 35 acres set between Abel Tasman and the Glaciers with unobstructed views over the Totara valley and Paparoa National Park. A short walk through Beaconstones private bush track to wonderful swimming in the clean clear Totara River.
Unplug this holiday immersed in the wild West Coast...just 1 km off SH6 but in a private tranquil location with handy access to Punakaiki, Westport, Cape Foulwind.
Built with sustainably sourced local native timbers, natural furnishings, solar powered and filtered rain water collection, organic gardens. Beaconstone offers a truly green off the grid holiday surrounded by native flora and fauna.

Charleston is 5 minutes south for Underworld adventure caving and rafting; take a ride on the rain forest train to see the amazing display of glow worms. Go horse trekking through farmlands and long deserted beaches. Explore rugged bays and bush tracks; visit a retired gold mine with your torch and explore the tunnels and the giant waterwheel. Wake early for a return hike to Bucklands Peak with stunning views. Enjoy a meal at Charleston’s Tavern for a warm friendly atmosphere and local history or tasty pizza at Jacks Gasthoff; dive into a local made wild game pie at the Underworld Cafe, all just 5 minutes from Beaconstone.

Amazing off grid but comfortable stay

A very well made and looked after cabin in the middle of the bush, with everything you need! We had a very comfortable stay and loved the bushwalk down to the river. Very friendly hosts and sweet doggies too! We’ll definitely come back (and will bring more mozzie/sandfly repellent!)

A great combination of privacy, off-grid, cosy, and in nature on one hand, and ... all the facilities you need, and host advice and connection if you want / need that on the other. Quiet, peaceful, restorative, while all being very accessible! Highly recommended (and I'm looking forward to getting back again)!

Totally awesome place would go back in a heart beat we had a great time as there is plenty to do in that area. Just one thing, take plenty of mosquito repellent as you will need it. However apart from that this place has everything you will ever need so we would highly recommend a stay their.

Safe Haven in the bush

A beautiful property created and cared for with love and commitment to health and the environment . Make sure to arrive early enough to enjoy a bush walk to the river. Exceptional wood features in the accommodation … a lot to look at and appreciate.

Sweet chill-out spot on the West Coast

Had a great stay and ended up adding 3 nights to our booking. Hosts are great - relaxed and welcoming. Swimming hole close by and really well positioned to explore the Charleston - Westport area coastline, rivers and hills. So much to do in this area in the outdoors and the weather was mint as it often is on the coast. The cabin is a lovely simple space - slept heaps :-) We will be back for sure.

Beautiful location and special accomodation

Beaconstone Eco lodge is an excellent base to explore the surrounding West Coast. The mountain view hut and facilities are exceptionally clean and well-maintained and the property has a lovely feel to it. The nearby river swimming spot is wonderful and with Westport nearby it's easy to pick up supplies or head out to eat. Things to note would be that the mosquitoes can be quite relentless so repellant is an absolute must! Otherwise, it was a great spot to relax in the hammocks, read and relax with a nice private BBQ area with a beautiful view :)

Amazing stay!

This place exceeded expectations! It is a gorgeous set up, the room is so thoughtfully put together and tidy, and surprisingly spacious! Views from the bedroom are spectacular. The kitchen is over by the ablution block which we found to be no hassle. There is an outdoor sitting area and the views/surroundings are incredible! We even took a walk through the bush, down to the river as recommended by the owners, which was just stunning. Highly recommend for a tranquil stay. Owners are very friendly. My partner and I loved staying here!

Beaconstone has two off grid accommodations - The Mountain view Hut and The Cottage (2 bedroom house) These can be booked together if you have a larger group travelling wanting privacy enjoying the faciltes beaconstone has to offer.... majestic views of the Totara Valley and distant ocean views (so peaceful you can hear the ocean) and private bush track access to wonderful river swimming.....
