Bliss in the Northwoods

We hosted a family gathering on Star Lake and lucked out that this fanatic home was available. The house is still new and comfortably furnished with plenty of space for larger groups (we had 8 adults). The views are breathtaking and while the fish outsmarted all but one of us, we had a fun and relaxing stay. Rob was great with suggestions and stories based on his local’s knowledge. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful Property

This property is absolutely amazing! The house is gorgeous and was spotless when we arrived. It has everything you need for a large group. Lots of towels, kitchen supplies and SO MUCH space! The lake was beautiful all times of the day. Rob was very helpful with information!

Star Lake Vacation

Our family group included 13 adults, 2 toddlers, 2 infants, one 6 year old. We had a very enjoyable time in a safe and very accommodating setting. The house was ideal for us. We loved the lake activities!! Thank you!

GREAT SETTING

Our family of 12 just spent over a week on this property. It's a wonderful setting. The home offers plenty of room for everyone to spread out. Nice decor. The kitchen is supplied with everything you need. Quiet setting also. The lake is clean, there is a sand bar to enjoy time on the water. The lake is not busy. Fishing is also something to do. Lots of nearby eating establishments, very good food options. The property manager is very helpful, full of information on the lake and area. He also responds in a timely manner to your questions. Nothing but good things to say.

Enjoyed our time greatly. Wonderful location on the lake. A little hard for small children to walk into lake. ( The lake may have been high.) Beds good. Room for all. Kitchen and grill worked well.

July vacation

Large kitchen and dining area. The screened in porch was great for early morning coffee and young children to play in. Sun deck on boathouse was wonderful for being in the sun, relaxing and enjoying the lake. Lots of room to spread out and the two mini fridges helped with refrigerator space. Good facility with good amenities.

Excellent Experience

We stayed at Hiawatha on Star Lake for 4 nights in June 2021. Our group consisted of 14 people: 9 adults, 3 teenagers, and 2 toddlers. We had an excellent experience. Firstly, the property is accurately represented in the photos. It really is a beautiful, clean, and premium cabin with great views of the water. The house is located right on the water, and the water is clear and excellent for swimming. We have stayed at many cabins in the past and the water has almost always been an issue (murky, full of lily pads or seaweed, algae, etc.). Not the case here; Star Lake is beautiful and clear, you can see the rocky bottom through the water. The outdoor property is very nice, there is a great playground for young children, clean and well-maintained grass, a generous amount of seating /chairs, and a nice campfire set up. The deck is also very nice. There is a nice grill, which we used for almost all of our dinners. The outdoor property is also nice and flat with open space so you could play outdoor games/sports or just spread out and sit around. Inside, the property is wonderful. It’s clean, well-maintained, and high-quality. The bedrooms and bathrooms are very nice, and the living areas have plenty of seating s good layout. The kitchen has pretty much everything you need, and the view from the window is great. There are also a lot of extra towels, blankets, toilet paper, and pillows provided, which is nice. It’s a great space for group getaways as there is is something for everyone and ample space. I felt our group of 14 fit nicely. You could definitely fit more people, it just depends on your sleeping arrangement requirements. Overall it was an awesome experience, and the beautiful photos represent the property accurately. 10/10 would recommend and/or return.

Amazing View!

This home has an exceptional gathering space for large families! There were 20 of us and we never felt overcrowded. There’s a beautiful view of the lake right from the kitchen/great room area. Definitely a do-over!

This is a great place to stay. My only suggestion: we couldn't find any kind of handbook/manual regarding the house. We couldn't figure out how to start the gas fire and how to adjust the thermostat. (It wasn't obvious).

Great week on Star Lake

We loved the home and property on the lake. We enjoyed pontooning, kayaking, and paddle boardIng on the lake. Home was very clean and property was well cared for. We hope to visit again!

The kitchen was not clean.

The house and property were excellent but the kitchen was not cleaned before we arrived. The refrigerator, microwave, and cabinets were all very dirty and we had to clean them thoroughly before we used them. That was surprising as well as some areas not being vacuumed. Despite all of that we had a very good time.

Star Lake Family VACA!!

First of all we just LOVE this vacation rental house! We are a family of 17 and the house meets all of our needs for adults, children & babies. Great spaces for games, relaxing, eating, food prep..its all here. However.....You did make a point to note that there were special COVID cleaning practices that were implemented this year.....I fail to really agree with that. I realize it is extremely difficult to turn a house this size around in 6 hours to be ready for the next guests...however we did expect a certain level of cleanliness which we did not find. When we swept the kitchen floor after dinner...we found a few "leftover surprises" from the previous guests. The kitchen table could not have been moved and cleaned under before we arrived!! We also found a contact lens on the bedroom floor, miscellaneous toys when we searched for missing toys under the couches..again...the furniture could not have been moved and vacuumed under before we arrived, or those items would not have still been there from previous guests. We also found playing cards under the rugs when we swept....again....not ours! Also as far as COVID cleaning implies...there would not have been baskets with magazines left out, playing cards, books etc. These items would have been removed if true COVID cleaning practices were in place. WE moved all these items ourselves when we arrived, as well as condiment shakers etc. Several blankets were also left out which made us a little leary of past occupants usage. Also, the home decor is very well appointed, however I am questioning why so many personal decorative items that are breakable are left on display when the house is to be occupied by such a large group. We have rented from VACASA & VRBO several times previously and find that when personal items are left out...it is our job to relocate all those items so there is space for the items we are bringing and also to insure there is no breakage. As much as we truly enjoy Hiawatha on Star Lake, we were dissappointed in the cleanliness, especially when several emails we received prior to arrival insured specific COVID cleaning practices were in place. We did of course have a fabulous week, and the house certainly is arranged nicely for a large family.

Amazing property on a private, clean lake

This property was amazing for a friends and family getaway! We had a 5 families with kids ranging from ages 5-13 and all were entertained throughout the week—thanks to the foosball table, board games, swing set, swim raft, convenience store down the road, canoe, and kayak (we also rented kayaks and paddle boards and had them delivered from Yoga Paddler, which I highly recommend!). The house was immaculate, kitchen well stocked with every cooking utensil/appliance, and there was room for everyone. Everyone agreed that they wish the week didn’t end and that we could’ve stayed longer!!!

Great vacation!

Our family of 13 had a great stay at Hiawatha on Star! The open floor plan was awesome and the island in the kitchen was a popular hangout. The wine fridges in the kitchen and the basement were a bonus. We utilized the three season room for reading and games. The warm breeze was refreshing. The deck on top of the boat house was an excellent touch! We could hang out in the sun or read, and still watch the kids swim and kayak. Lots of bald eagles flying around, even got a great picture of one flying right in front of the main window. The playground was also a big hit with the kids. We utilized the yard to play bocce ball, toss around the football and hit the volleyball back and forth. We were close to some hiking trails, too, which was nice. The bedrooms did get pretty warm at night, especially the bunk rooms. All the other bedrooms have ceiling fans. Only have a couple complaints: 1- the refrigerator was nice, but not big enough for feeding a large family for the week. We had to make several trips to the general store for more milk and water because we couldn’t fit everything in the fridge. 2- the last couple days, the pollen was so bad and really made swimming off the dock impossible. Overall, amenities were great! The house was very clean and well taken care of. Beds were comfortable and the sheets and towels were in great repair. Great location! We already looked to book for next summer, but see the price has significantly increased. 😩 Would highly recommend.
