Our much loved humble Kiwi Bach is a great escape from the busy lives we lead. Set back from the road it is quiet with the exception of the native birdsong in the backyard trees. Without all the city light pollution the night stars are amazing & from the font deck & bedroom you can listen to the sound of the waves from stunning Cooks Beach which is just a short 4 minute walk away.
At the back of the property there is a tidal stream & the back gate gives you access to a pathed walk around the residential lake area. Please be aware that both the stream & the lake are not fenced. If you prefer a more adventurous local walk our favourites include the walks to Lonely Bay & Shakespeare Cliff Lookout.
Our Bach is also just minutes walk to local restaurants & convenience stores & within a 15 mins drive you can be at either Hot Water or Hahei Beaches & access to the famous Cathedral Cove Walkway.
Alternatively for a spot of retail therapy or a trip to the movies the Ferry across to Whitianga is only a few minutes drive from Cooks Beach. Also within a short drive are local Tennis Courts, the Purangi Golf Course, the Mercury Bay Winery & the popular Eggsentric & Colenso Cafes.
As the Bach relies on the supply of precious rain water we ask that you please bring your own linen & towels. If you are coming from overseas & this is an issue please let me know.
If you are looking for a place to get away & enjoy nature & some screen free time then we believe our beloved Bach is the perfect choice.
My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Taniaâs hidden escape. Itâs in the perfect location, quiet but still a quick drive to the Whitianga Ferry or drive into the local town. There are so many delicious places to eat and great coffee spots not far away. Taniaâs Bach was both easy to access and very clean and warm with a lovely new heat pump (perfect for our stay in winter). Taniaâs place is well equipped with everything you need for the family or for a getaway with friends or a special someone.
This batch is a lovely little haven in Cook's Beach, a delightful holiday spot with everything I could have wanted. The property is as described and also super cozy, I loved the open living space with lots of light and comfy seating. The space allows for curling up with a good book while I can also imagine a whole family could easily enjoy eachother's company around the dinner table. The bedrooms are simple and I got a good night's sleep. Kitchen, bathrooms and everything else does the job nicely! With only a short walk to the gorgeous beach, it was perfect for early morning walks, afternoon strolls and evening sky watching. Nearby spots to visit were easily reached, making for excellent day trips to Whitianga, Cathedral cove, hot water beach - but Cook's Beach is so great that you can easily spend the days there. Staying at Tania's batch was a delightful holiday choice, I would recommend it to anyone!
Our host Tania was very helpful with information supplied. The accommodation was very homely and just what we needed for a family of four. Nicely hidden away. With a short 5min walk to the beach from the bach
This was a great place to stay and Tania was accommodating to us as overseas visitors with extra explanation of how things work etc.
Very close to beach and amenities.
This was a really lovely old school bach, very private down a longish driveway off the road. Short walk to the beach or shops, two nice bedrooms, great deck, good parking. Couldn't have asked for more.
Great little Bach, everything you need. Fantastic location, we ate in both restaurants on different occasions and the food was beautiful!
I wouldnât have been able to easily wash my thick curly hair well with the water pressure in the shower but who gets all fancy when down by the beach?!
Was a great easy stay for what we wanted, would recommend đ
Location hard to beat, but house needs a bit of maintenance
Great place, and we had a wonderful time, but the house needs some love (e.g. bed in one of the bedrooms is broken). The internet connection is also well below the expected standard for this price.
Our 2 night stay was reduced to one night due to the impending cyclone, however we still managed to have a lovely time in Cook's beach.
We appreciated the great contact with host Tania, and her very kind offer of a late check out. Tania also gave us the option to change our dates due to the crazy weather, which she was not obliged to do, but we really appreciated the offer.
The bach is cute and cosy and has everything you need for a great holiday.
Really looking forward to coming back.
My family and I stayed for three nights and while we loved the location and setting we werenât blown away by the property. There was dust and crumbs on the kitchen floor, food past itâs use by date in the fridge, half eaten packets of chips and crackers in the drawers and the bbqs were quite old and dirty. The place was generally quite run down with little maintenance being done on it by the looks. The shower was temperamental and we often ended up with a cold shower. There was no wifi even though it is listed as having wifi. I wouldnât recommend this place when there are many other beautiful spots around cooks beach.
Relaxed simple batch with everything you need in the kitchen and comfortable beds. Very quiet location. Tania is a pleasure to deal with. The property is on tank water. I suspect the whole of Cooks Beach is. The water is clear and lovely to drink but water pressure means you have a dribble of a shower and difficulties getting the temperature right. Easily fixed with an upgrade to the pump system. We would choose this batch again.
Nice property, good to be away from city and in a lovely location with all the facilities you could need for a good stay. Easy 3 minute walk to Cookâs beach and in good location for a short drive to other touristy beaches. A great place to spend Christmas Day!
We had such a great stay here. A cute bach so close to beach and shops. Felt very peaceful and private and was very comfortable and clean. Loved hearing all the backyard bird song. We will definitely be back!
I am a beach & nature lover & enjoy walking, spending time with family & friends & travelling to interesting places where people "do" life differently. In my youth I spent a lot of holidays camping & exploring the beaches of the Coromandel Coast. I feel very blessed to own a small piece of this stunning part of the country. Cooks Beach is one of my favourite spots on earth & is my home away from home. Whenever I first drive into the village it feels like any stress I may have melts away as I return to the sights & sounds of nature & a simpler way of life.
There is so much to love about our wee Bach which has been part of our family for the last 18 years. The location is fabulous - close to the beach but away from the road. The backyard is big & we love the established grove of trees out there. This property has gifted us many fun family times & has always provided a welcome break from the busyness of Auckland life. With our own 3 children now adults with their own busy lives it felt like the right time to allow others to enjoy this precious piece of Coromandel paradise.
I so love the closeness of our Bach to the beach & icecreams! Being tucked down a long driveway with lots of trees at the back of the property I always feel very peaceful & relaxed here.
