Come and stay at our newly renovated garden cottage in the picturesque village of Woodbury. Our cottage is quiet, secluded and part way down our half acre garden. Here you can sit out on the verandah and enjoy the trees, planted areas and the birdlife. Continental breakfast is included.
Tidy and comfortable self contained accommodation with a beautiful garden with mature trees. Hosts lovely and friendly. Picturesque to close to Peel Forest.
The cottage was warm and cosy, and the hosts were very helpful. We arrived at dusk for our first night's stay and Jim had kindly lit the fire for. Lovely view of their backyard from the living area.
We loved our stay on this peaceful accomodation and n a gorgeous garden setting just outside Geraldine. Easy to go into town for dinner or eat at home. Wonderful hosts who were so helpful and we would definitely return.
Did a quick overnight on our way to Christchurch from Queenstown. Space was perfect! Had everything we needed, beautiful gardens and easily accessible. So much nicer than a hotel and very comfortable. Left us breakfast in the fridge, that was greatly appreciated after eating out for so many days.Fabulous hosts and highly recommend!
We thoroughly enjoyed our quiet stay with Jim & Mary who were particularly hospitable and helpful. The wood fire kept the cottage warm overnight despite the frost outside. And the garden is magnificent. We really recommend this stay if you want somehwere quiet and cosy.
Wonderful and well furnished cottage. Offers easy access to town while giving you the quietness of the countryside. The wooden fireplace really makes the cottage cozy, and a well appointed kitchen allows you to prepare meals. We had a restful stay there, the breakfast in the fridge was an appreciated extra touch. Thank you for hosting us!
Barbara and her husband are wonderful host who make you feel right at home. (Amazing hosts). The home, rooms and gardens are beautiful. Wonderful hot tub, alpacas and Fergus the sweetest sheepdog. We traveled New Zealand for over 2 months and this was one our favorite stays.
Jim and Mary are wonderful hosts. The cottage was very clean and is well laid out and had everything we needed. Whilst other heaters were there, we lit the wood burner, so we were very cosy and warm. Great location and handy for the local cafe in Woodbury and Geraldine not too far away.
This is a special place settled in a lovely garden with
trees and birds in abundance.
The cottage is homely; warm on a cold day and fitted out comfortably with everything needed for a relaxing and enjoyable visit.
Mary and Jim are welcoming, gracious and interesting hosts. We hope to return soon!
Perfect hosts, wonderful homely cottage with a fire, comfy bed, high pressure shower, and yummy continental breakfast. The trees, gardens, and birds provided visual and audial relaxation. Absolutely superb experience and now in our top three short term accommodation experiences. Thanks Jim and Mary for a rejuvenating stay.
Good accommodation. As few km out of Geraldine but not too far. Warm and cosy but if it was very cold or snowing it would benefit from double glazing instead of single glazing and louvred.
Lovely cottage, clean, well equipped, modern and thoughtfully and tastefully furnished. Nice breakfast, lovely garden to wander around in. Hosts are welcoming and helpful.
The fire kept us comfy and warm on the cold July nights. There are extra heaters for when the fire is not going. Bed is comfortable and warm too.
We had a lovely relaxing time here.
We could not have wished for anything more. A peaceful beautiful garden setting. The cottage was really great, thoughtful compact design that provided what we wanted. Lovely wood burner ensured we were cosy, and other facilities enhanced our stay. Loved the butlers sink and mini one in bathroom. Great shower. Our hosts were very thoughtful easy to talk to and checked we had all we needed. We would definitely come again!!!
We loved our stay here, for lots of reasons- helpfulness of hosts, beautiful garden, very clean cottage, great location for bike rides, walks, proximity to Geraldine. Very very good indeed.
Mary and Jim moved to Woodbury after running their guest lodge in Twizel for ten years. They both come from a teaching background. JIm is 'retired' and Mary is currently a private literacy tutor. They both taught in Invercargill for many years, where Mary grew up, moving to Twizel for a change of lifestyle and on to Woodbury for its obvious attractions. Gardening, cooking and music take up much of their time when not at work. Mary and Jim like to keep busy with hosting, family and friends and the small projects connected with their lifestyle.
Woodbury has a rural outlook and is handy to the vibrant country town of Geraldine. We have many local activities, a variety of cafes, art galleries and shops. Day and much longer walks in the hills and bush areas are within easy reach. We are an within an easy drive from Christchurch and Timaru. The village has some historic attractions. The stone built, St Thomas' church is worth a visit. The local cemetery holds the remains of early settlers. The Woodbury Store Cafe, established recently serves excellent meals.
The Garden Cottage is recently renovated accommodation situated halfway down our half acre garden. It is a peaceful refuge away from the road where guests are able to stay in comfort and security. Mary and Jim lived there while renovating their house.
