Great little place right by an easy starting point for the loop of popular attractions around Hakone! Everything was comfortable and we really enjoyed our time here. We wish we would have stayed even longer!
This was our first experience in a Japanese house, which was a nice change from the hotels we had been using. It is walking distance (maybe 15 minutes) from Motohakone and its bakery and shrine. It was really convenient for us to walk around the corner one way to eat at restaurants, visit the fruit vendor and get coffee, or to walk the other way to get out into nature and climb the old Tokaido road where we were greeted with distance runners saying hello as they made their way down the stone path. There is a shrine the same direction dedicated to two dogs that defended locals from wolves to the death. These were history gems we stumbled across. Heidi was a great communicator and helpful when we needed directions to get to the house. Being a short walk from Lake Ashi and the pirate ship dock was a plus. This location is away from the hustle and congestion of some of the other Hakone area spots. If you are looking for a quiet get-away this is a good option. It rained one day we were there and it was really nice to have umbrellas provided at the house. We were traveling lightly and did not have any of our own.
Super clean, easy to check in and a friendly town. Only slight hard thing was finding the actual house because of the almost identical house next door. Itâs behind the parking lot. Honestly not to hard to figure out but the only mark I could give it. Futons were surprisingly comfortable. And heaters worked amazingly.
Stayed in Hakone for a day. Rented a car at train station in Odawara and drove to the house. The house was very clean, nice bathrooms, laundry to boot! Beds were nice. Location was good to some things which were walkable. Great view of mountains from driveway.
We liked the property as it was nearby the Hakone Machi sightseeing cruise and other nearby stores and restaurants.
The house is well-maintained, clean, and useful
The only downside was that in late December, we checked in late around 9 pm, and were greeted with an ice-cold house with all heaters fully shut off.
The bedrooms took nearly 3 hours to warm up before we could go to bed.
