We had a great experience at Bent Pines! Kristie was very responsive leading up to our visit answering my questions by email about what was at the house. There were enough supplies at the house for everything we needed: toilet paper, handsoap, dish soap, dishwasher soap, kitchen towels. We brought our own bath towels and beach towels as required, along with our own paper towels, disinfecting wipes, and laundry detergent.
We were welcomed to the property with a great view and easy entry into the home using the front door keypad, and a little gift of local sundries. The home was well-stocked with things to do and outdoor items we used for fun in the sun and water. We played games and were able to use the smart TV to watch a couple movies during our stay on the rainy evenings as well.
The kitchen was a tiny bit lacking, perhaps. The pots and pans were very well used, which made it a little cumbersome to cook with, but we did do some limited cooking which was fine. The outdoor gas grill was great and we used it most days to grill our dinner. There was a bit of an issue with fruit flies in the kitchen when we arrived. We did the best we could to address it by keeping the kitchen garbage cover on, the sink clear of dishes and food particles, and food covered on the counter, with our used cans/bottles outside. We also set up our own fruit fly traps with syrup/vinegar/soap, and during the course of the week the problem definitely improved.
The bridge over the ravine and steps down to the beach were beautiful and well-maintained. We were able to use a couple floaties from the house to float and play in the lake. We took the kayaks out for a nice afternoon paddle as well. We watched the sunset from the beach, and by the bonfire pit above the bluff.
We took the Kramers' recommendations and visited Country Dairy for a farm tour (so fun and delicious) and rented a pontoon on White Lake from KAC Rentals (also great). We picked up local beer from North Grove Brewers and Fetch Brewing. We bought fresh produce from the little Grumpy Farmer CSA farmstand across the street.
Our family of 7 was able to spread out, with one couple in the basement bedroom with their own bathroom, another couple on the main floor with their own bathroom, and another couple and 2-year-old in separate bedrooms on the second floor with their own bathroom. Closet space was ample for storing clothing and suitcases.
Thanks again, Kramers! We look forward to returning!
