A previous review mentioned construction at the property. I inquired whether it was still going on and was told that it was not. That was not true.
There was a major construction project at the property and the noise started at 7:00 AM and went until 6:00 PM every day. It was so loud we could not be in the unit during that time - so we could basically only sleep there.
There was a large hole in the bathroom ceiling that opened into the construction site and every day the bath would be full of debris.
On the day of check in I tried to contact the property manager throughout the day for details on check in. No one answered the phone, returned our calls, or responded to emails. We stood outside the unit for 2.5 hours in the dark until someone from VRBO was eventually able to get someone to let us in.
The cleaners came the morning of our first day and the afternoon of our last day, so we had to do all of our own cleaning.
The unit itself was nice and the location was good. The property management is the worst I have ever experienced.
Les points faibles : Communication, emplacement, exactitude de lâannonce
Honeymoon ruined by lack of communication over building works
We chose to stay at Balie Bay for our honeymoon. The location in terms of being situated in Camps Bay was great, but nobody informed us that there were major building works going on right next door to the property, and when I say "major", a whole new property was being built which is adjoined to the property. We were awoken early every single morning (from around 7am) by lots of metallic banging and there was dust and dirt falling into the bathroom, which has a large tunnel-type hole over the bathtub. The noise continued all day until around 6pm. This was not the relaxing honeymoon we had wanted. Further, there was black mould in the shower and there was an open pipe in the top of the shower which sporadically dripped water from somewhere (we don't know where, but not from our bathroom). Cleaners came in one day, unexpectedly, which was fine, but it was the day after we'd arrived and they changed the bin which had barely anything in it, meaning we didn't have another bin liner at all for the rest of our time there. This property has so much potential, but was let down for these reasons and we would have appreciated a heads up before arriving that there was major building work going on, as we would have chosen to stay somewhere else. It really took the shine off what should have been a fantastic week, but instead left us wanting to be anywhere but at the property. Noone checked in with us once during our stay to see how things were. Do not book this property.
