If you like history, relaxation, quietness and serenity, this is the place to be at. Unique historic area. Spacious with everything that you need for small or large groups.
We absolutely loved our stay at this property. The location was perfectâon the grounds of Central State Hospital, which was the purpose of our visit. The property was spacious, clean, well stocked, convenient to the campus, and the property owner was quick in his responses every time I reached out to him. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
We enjoyed out stay. The house and the grounds are very interesting. About 10 minutes from downtown Milledgeville. House was comfortable and clean. Interesting history.
This home was very clean and the hosts were very accommodating. Well-appointed and equipped home and kitchen. I enjoyed the added historic information about the area.
My daughter and I wanted to stay close to Central State Hospital (which was our main focus) and town. This clean and cozy cottage was perfect for our trip. It is not a new modern home, but itâs original charm was kept in tact. As we did not want to stay in a typical hotel room, this home had plenty of room. The kitchen had all we needed to cook meals. The tv had a wide variety of streaming channels and worked great. The beds were very comfortable also. We would stay here again if in the area.
Felt like stepping into a past time zone for my brain and soul but totally comfortable and felt like home for my body! The large screened in porch is such an added bonus to the pleasure of sitting and relaxing! Every bed is extremely comfortable!
Property is pretty out dated. Well
Water which has a funny smell of sulfur in shower and sink. Also, the house is located in a pretty isolated area next to an abandoned insane asylum. Pretty creepy. Would be good for Halloween maybe
Myself and another travel nurse were looking for a nice quiet place to rent while on assignment in Milledgeville and this property was perfect. Nice quiet neighborhood. The history surrounding us was definitely an added bonus. The property owner was amazing and very responsive. If I am ever back in the area I will definitely try to stay here again!
I grew up just 25 miles south of Milledgeville then moved to Atlanta where I spent the next 20 years. In 2006, my wife and I decided to move back to the area to raise our family. Since that time, I have been deeply involved in this community, working to make it a great place to live, work and play.
My grandmother and uncle both retired from Central State Hospital, so I've known about the campus all of my life. I moved to Milledgeville shortly after the hospital closed and saw first hand the devastation that losing 8,000 can do to a community. When the Central State Hospital Redevelopment Authority was created to help redevelop the campus, I immediately got involved and moved my technology support business to the campus. In 2018, when the authority began selling property on the campus, I purchased my office, this house and another duplex behind my office to do my part to redevelop the campus.
Milledgeville is rich in history and Central State Hospital is central to that history. This house, built in 1928 provides a unique opportunity to stay on the campus, learn more about the history and take advantage of the walking/cycling/driving self-guided tour or the trolly tours. The house is less than 2 miles from the vibrant downtown area with lots of restaurants, night life and shopping. Simply put, there are no other rentals that can match the experience and convenience that Asylum House offers.
