Not beach-side, but well-located
My husband, son and a friend stayed here over Veteran's Day weekend. Just a low-key getaway with nothing major planned. I spent a lot of time in beach towns, particularly those with aging housing stock. The vibe in the neighborhood is funky, but the unit is spacious and relaxing. It's not a gleaming paean to luxury and the landscaping is charitably described as basic, but the interior is updated just enough to make it comfortable. It's basically two large rooms -- one bedroom with a king bed and a day bed, and a living-dining and kitchen area that flows together well. It's conducive to great conversation while cooking. This is the first well-kitchen in which the knives are not as dull as butter knives! Countertops are tile, the rest of the unit is wall-to-wall carpet (relatively new, basic "renter" carpet).
Still, there were a few hiccups. We had to call for a few extra pillow cases because the extra sheet sets were not full sets. There was a gas grill on the patio that looked like it was made available to guests that I would have loved to use if we had time.
The neighborhood is quiet and it is in walking distance to a shopping center with a Walmart supermarket, a nail place, hair place and a couple of small restaurants. It was easy to get onto I-5 and easy to get to the Oceanside pier, though just far enough away that if you were feeling lazy, you'd more likely drive.
Clean and ready
Check in was a breeze, the place was clean and within walking distance to main eateries and beach. Some of the furniture in the pictures was not there but not really a big deal. Also parking (has parking spot)was super easy and the area was not too loud. There is a train that goes by but once and only lasts about a minute or two. Overall I recommend this lovely place.
Update your photo to what it actually looks like!
Disappointing from the delapidated gate entrance to the inside, very unkept, may have been charming many, many years ago. Stained carpets, furniture in the picture no longer there, noisy watertank or cistern constantly filling up every 30 secs adjacent to the bedhead - please get a plumber! No aircond. Confusing switchs for the fan - need some labels.
We are so sorry you did not enjoy your time here. We did remove a wood stand and add chairs to the table, but everything else in the pictures is exactly as seen online. We have labeled the fan remote and advised the owner of your comments regarding the water tank. Thank you!
Perfect Get Away
The house was great, it was warm and cozy and within walking distance to the beach which was great. I enjoyed seeing my family while I was down there and the house was spacious enough to host but also very private. The fenced in yard was one of my favorite things.
Great location for small family.
This is a great location for a small family. The yard is fenced so the kids could play outside. The large windows gave the place and inside/outside feel. We were able to park our SUV in the single parking spot (no one else was there to compete for the spot in October). We walked to the beach everyday. Oceanside is a great little beach town! If children are small, I would recommend bringing a stroller or wagon for the walk. Great stay! We will definitely come back!
