Plage de Flat Point, juste en dessous de la plage de Riversdale sur la côte sud de Wairarapa - un bon week-end - à 2 heures de route de Wellington.
Profitez de l'atmosphère paisible de la campagne dans un bach avec des équipements modernes. 3 minutes à pied d'une plage de baignade sûre avec une vie marine abondante et un récif à explorer à marée basse.
Surf, natation et plongée avec un bon accès de mise à l'eau. Un poêle à bois efficace assure un bach chaud chaud même dans un sud.

The location was great, but the room facilities were outdated, and the cleanliness, particularly in the bathroom, left much to be desired. I had intended to stay another night, but after discovering the poor condition of the facilities and hygiene upon check-in, I decided to move to another hotel after just one night.

Amazing location and setup.

We loved our time in this beautiful space - the location is incredible and the layout of the deck and rooms gives a bit of privacy from the other places. The people before us hadn't quite kept to the owners expectations re cleaning, which wasn't a major but was a shame. The owners were great to deal with; super responsive and clear communication. A great little getaway.

Weekend getaway with the family

Great location and a stunning coast line for a weekend getaway. House is excellent for a family with plenty of room regardless of the weather. A real sun trap. Great location for a dive or surf casting.

Remote and relaxing just what was needed

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Bach, the beach was lovely with lots of treasures to be found by the kids, saw a couple of seals and the best part was the reading and relaxing, the only downside was, I wish we had more time there. Highly recommend this place

Quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Bring binoculars

Open plan kitchen/living area, 3 bedrooms and separate rooms for the loo and shower/bath. Decks out front and back. Lovely view. There’s a wood burner and loads of logs under the house. The house is fairly well insulated. Shops are 90mins away in Carterton. Bring loo paper! Tap water is from a tank and had a bit of an odd taste, fine for kettle & washing up. We brought bottled water for drinking. Kitchen has the usuals. We couldn’t get the BBQ to light so used long matches that we brought - not sure if matches supplied. The gas for water heating ran out while we were there. The owner was quick to respond and told us how to switch to the other tank. Wind dial closed on existing tank (lighter), flick a switch and then wind dial open on other tank (heavier). About 40 baches in the area with a few for sale. Not sure if there are any perm residents. The McGuiness family own 7000ha and subdivided for baches. Apparently the airstrip was built to save the son having to go to Masterton for flying lessons. We couldn’t get a mobile signal but there’s internet (~30Mbps) via a microwave link to the hilltop. Lots of paua shells on beach. Check tide times as walking easier at low tide. Walk access to beach via a path (right at the bach road T junction). The bach keyring has a red key for gate to drive onto the beach (over the single lane bridge & turn right). Last 25km of gravel road was tedious. A bit hair raising on the final bit of road - down hill/narrow with bits washed away!

Off the beaten track excellence

We had a short but lovely stay at Sam and Shane's place in Flat Point. The house is set in a very special location, miles from anywhere, with evening and morning views of the ocean.

Whānau tradition

Our third stay at this magic spot. Great whare great location. Excellent hosts, very responsive. Stunning views and very comfortable, beach and swimming spot close walk. Neighbours are very friendly and if you are lucky you may be gifted a crayfish or other kaimoana Will be back always get drawn back.

Relaxing bach getaway.

Great time. Peaceful, enjoyed the birdsong around the house. Proximity to beach makes it easy to enjoy the sea/sunrise/set. Spacious bach with everything you need. Great hosts!

Very remote, beautiful location but basic

The location is beautiful. It is very very remote so be prepared with all your food etc and bring your own coffee machine if you need a decent coffee as the nearest shops and petrol station is 1hr 25mins away. The actual bach is reasonably new and a good size with three bedrooms around a central living area with decks on both sides. If you like privacy, be warned there are large windows and doors without blinds so probably dont watch any scary movies about cabins near the time of staying! It has a wood burner with plenty of wood, microwave, hob and oven, large fridge and basic cooking items. Two small sofas and some window seating. Lovely views out to sea. However, sadly for us when we arrived the previous guests hadnt left it clean and it wasnt checked before we arrived. Blankets and bedding were messy and just chucked on the beds, (btw take duvet inners as well as top and bottom sheets if in winter or youll be cold) food and stains in the fridge, microwave and stove top, floor not clean, bathroom not clean and just a general feeling of grime. I messaged the owners on the first night as they had asked me to let them know if it was clean on arrival and 48hrs later I sadly have not yet received a response. Hence the scoring being a bit lower for comms. I do understand life gets in the way, also with it being so remote it may be a challenge to get someone to check or clean it properly but as we were paying guests it was a tad disappointing on this occasion.

A great find in the Wairarapa.

Had been looking for somewhere to have a catch up with some friends not to far out of Wellington. Had not heard of Flat Point but what an awesome location. Even though the weather was not that great, it was a fantastic night away. Its remote and rugged, but had all the ameneties we needed.
