Arriving at the Royal Palm was like stepping into a brochure; the cool breezes, the lush gardens, the breathtaking views. We arrived by charter flight and were met by a kind gentleman who took us on a 30 minute tour of the island on our way to the villa. Once there, we were greeted by Mr. Pickett, the caretaker of the villa. He was so incredibly helpful with information and just, simply, a man of warm spirit. He answered any and all questions and showed us all the amenities of the home. He also provided rental cars for our party.
Many, many amenities are in this fine home. The owners have thought of anything you could possibly need and provided it. (including earplugs, a welcome addition to the cock's crow in the early hours). The rooms are comfortable and spacious. The home clean and bright. The water pressure divine. The kitchen is fully stocked for the person in your party who loves the idea of cooking. The pool area is beyond beautiful as we spent much of our time simply lounging around. There are plenty of shaded areas, as well as the full sun of the pool. And the view!! Gorgeous! The home boasts four bedrooms, one is very private. It also has a terrific tv room separate from the home but, still connected.
I cannot say enough about the people of Montserrat. We were lucky enough to visit during the St. Patrick's Day celebration. The warm people welcomed us into the entire festival including the PARADE. Best jerk chicken I've ever had.
Arranging our trip with Marsha was a pleasure. She was so forthcoming with information. She was easy to work with and quick to respond to our plethora of questions. She told us the best places to eat and she was absolutely correct. Olveston House was, again, so helpful. When one of our party declared she was a vegetarian, the CHEF came out to offer her an additional option to the menu. Their menu changes daily and is delicious now matter what you choose. We also ate at the "beach bar" as the locals call it. It's actually called the Yacht Club. They have great wings, burgers and onion rings!
They say if you drink the water from Montserrat, your soul will bring you back again and again. You do not need to drink from the spring, you simply need to visit this unique, non touristy locale to realize you've been missing out on something truly spectacular....that alone, will bring you back. We would highly recommend this villa and this island to our friends and to you, the reader.
