The Birdhouse close to Mazda and Toyota facilities
The "Birdhouse" is a cottage nestled on the border of Wheeler Wildlife Refuge in historic Mooresville, Alabama. Whether your an outdoor enthusiast, or want a private getaway, the "Birdhouse" offers a setting in Southern comfort and style. Located just 10 minutes to the Huntsville airport and 15 minutes to downtown Huntsville. This secluded property is perfect for a restful retreat.
We totally enjoyed our stay at the Birdhouse. It is close to the interstate but feels so very secluded and private. The hosts were wonderful and everything we could have asked for was provided. Wonderful experience.
We loved everything about the Birdhouse! Its the cutest little house, with a perfect location and amazing senery. The view from the back pourch was breathing taking!
Absolutely loved our stay! Home is adorable! Loved the Bird theme throughout the house! We loved that the house is very private yet convenient to the interstate. Our family stayed during winter, would love to visit again during a green season to be able to enjoy the grounds more. Sounds of the river was so peaceful. As a horse lover, I enjoyed seeing the horses come & go in the nearby pasture. Best beds slept on away from home!
We wanted to have a few days just to relax and unwind from a busy schedule, this was the perfect place to do just that! Everything was clean, the cabin is in a nice quiet area, we had a wonderful time! Thank you for the use of your beautiful cabin!
This house is located on a creek and aptly named the "Bird House". I believe I enjoyed the screened porch the most for watching and listening to the creek and the birds. The Dogwood & Magnolia Bakery in historic Mooresville, AL is only 1/2 mile away and had great muffins and cake. Huntsville, Decatur, and Madison are just a few miles away and had pretty much any kind of restaurant you want to try. Already have 2nd trip booked.
Bird's cabin is very neat and clean, cabin in nestled beside a creek and has a screened in deck, so you can sit on the deck and listed to the creek flow by. This is the second time my wife and I have been there, we have thoroughly enjoyed both times. The first time we were celebrating our 29th wedding anniversary, this time we were celebrating my wife's birthday. We absolutely love this wonderful cabin, we come there to get away from the stress of our everyday lives, it really gets us recharged! We will definitely be back again!
The property was beautiful, but there was rat poop EVERYWHERE, ESPECIALLY IN THE KITCHEN, ROACH IN THE FREEZER WITH SOMEONE ELSE'S FOOD đ, KINDA GOT THE FEEL WE STAYED IN SOMEONE ELSE'S HOUSE AND THEY WERE GONE FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. COULDN'T USE BEDROOM DOWNSTAIRS BECAUSE THERE WAS NO HEAT DOWNSTAIRS AND IT WAS TO COLD SO WE ALL SLEPT UPSTAIRS....THERE WAS TRASH ON TOP OF FRIDGE, AND FRIDGE WAS DIRTY, AND HAD TO BE CLEANED BEFORE WE COULD USE IT....
The pictures are nice but being there in person really shows the charm of this house. Inside itâs well suited for just sitting around and chatting. Outside with the option of being in the screen porch or the open deck watching the creek flow by, was amazing, Add to that all of the birds singing and I can see why they named the house that way.
Even walking down to the creek and walking along it brings so much of the natural beauty of the place out.
Driving past the white pillared historic house to get to this house just adds to that feeling of being in another time and at a nicer pace. But once you pull into the covered carport you donât even know the other buildings are the most of the time.
There are weddings done at the other house and property on occasion. The owners were told us well ahead. I was a little apprehensive as to whether that would change the feeling of the stay for those few hours. It actually had the opposite effect. We never saw any people from our secluded setting. Yet we enjoyed sitting out that evening and hearing the laughter and music coming from the reception up over the hill.
This definitely will be our go to place to stay from now on when visiting family in the area. If youâre into cycling. There are miles of gravel trails starting down the road on the other side of Mooresville. Unless you have an incredible cycle you have to ride. There is a bike shop in Mooresville which rents nice gravel bikes for $40 a day. So save yourself from carrying and stowing bikes too. Or just drop in there to look at the cool accessories they have and meet the owner. They do mobile repairs so even if you get a flat on the trails you can call the bike shop. Everything was simply amazing!
I travel a lot to the Huntsville area, and thought for once we would try a house. Are we glad we did. The house was described perfectly. The wildlife out back was awesome to watch. We would highly recommend staying here to anyone.
Our goal for the trip was daily kayaking in the Wheeler NWR, which this property is next to. Great bird watching from the screened back porch. The internet wasn't available, but had good cell service, and wasn't there for the internet anyway. Kitchen is well equipped for making your own meals and washer/dryer were handy after daily kayaking trips (5-10 minutes to easy put in locations). This was our 2nd stay this year, hope to have another soon.
The backyard on the creek is the best part! If youâre a kayaking, make sure to bring them! We know we will next time. Had no issues or reasons to reach out to the owner. Thank you for letting us stay in âGrandmas Houseâ
