Once we packed in our groceries and took a stroll by the lake, we didn't want to leave. We enjoyed the local restaurants, hiking trails, and many miles of beautiful road trips within easy driving distance.
We will definitely be back!
The booking process and communication with the property management was fantastic - super fast and on point! The cabin was sufficient - new appliances, cute little bathroom, lovely deck, dock, fireplace and campfire area. Oh, and lots of water equipment - kayaks, canoes and a paddle board! The one down side were the mattresses as they were soft (could be okay for other travelers!). Overall, a fantastic place! Would definitely stay again and recommend to family and friends.
It's a small quaint cabin. Nice and quiet and comfortable. Bathroom is a little small but functional. If you're trying to relax it does the trick. Loons calls make it peaceful.
We chose the Loon Lake Cabin because of the amazing location and the outdoor equipment included and we were not disappointed! The lake is stunning and super serene, the canoes and paddle board were enjoyed by all, and there might have been some competitive corn hole. All in all, it was fun and relaxing family time. As noted in other reviews, the beds and living room furniture are super uncomfortable which is the only thing preventing a 5 star review.
This cabin is located in the perfect scenic spot on a quiet lake. Great for kayaking. The place is immaculate! EVERYTHING was very clean - no dust, clean toaster, etc. There is a nice new bathroom. But, be aware that this is a cabin and it is small. It was fine for two of us but if you are a packrat or have a large group be aware that it may be tight or cozy depending on what you are looking for. For the fishing set: The pond is stocked with brook trout and land-locked salmon.
Absolutely beautiful setting on very quiet and peaceful Loon Lake. Spent a week here with our three young children and enjoyed the kayaks, canoes, stand up paddle board, comfortable hammock, Adirondack chairs, and lounge chairs on the deck. New fridge, and a nice stove and grill. House is very tiny but well-stocked. Comfier seating indoors would be a plus. Heads up that the road is very âoff roadâ and 4 wheel drive would have been better, but we got through fine on a dry summer week. Outside of the house we loved waterfall hikes, scenic drive and the shops and restaurants in Rangeley. This was our first time to Maine and one of our best family vacations yet! We will never forget the beauty of this lake and the surrounding mountains.
The most important part of this property delivered -- Loon Lake is serene and beautiful! Our kids swam and paddle-boarded all day every day and we twice saw Moose right down the road. Most of the time, we were the only ones on the lake. The cabin was very clean and the grounds were well maintained. We especially appreciated the wonderful outdoor furniture (on the dock, by the fire pit and on the deck). While the interior of the house is clean, it does lack some usual comforts. Bring your own extra blankets because if the temp drops at night you will need them (minimal bedding is provided). We went and bought a sleeping bag. There is no tea kettle and no basic panty items which, in our experience, most rentals provide. The couch cushions could use some love. Despite the listing, we were unable to access the basement and could not utilize the foose ball table or the extra (much needed) storage space. The cabin did not have any life preservers, so Morton & Furbish graciously delivered some to us. As advertised, the internet is very slow, but we actually loved this as it made us feel more present with our family. While the Cabin could use a few things to make it more welcoming, we were very impressed with Morton & Furbish's service and loved our time on Loon Lake. It was more about the water and experience than the cabin for us!
This sweet cozy cabin harkens to an earlier simpler time! We thoroughly enjoyed this and felt rejuvenated by our time here. We own a cabin on Loon Lake already and know how wonderful this area is, but needed extra space for a family reunion which led us to this cabin. Morton and Furbish are wonderful to work with and very attentive to any requests and provided information on the area and events. We used all the boats and fire pit and sat in the mornings and evenings and watched the loons! It is a smaller cabin but absolutely fine for our party of 3 adults.
Only about a 12 mins drive to Rangeley made this cabin a great choice for my husband and I and our indoor only Maine coon cat. The cabin has been well taken care of with a lovely deck and great view over Loon Lake. We saw families of loons almost every day paddling by. While the space is small inside, it was fine for the three of us. The refrigerator is a 3/4 size, so keep that in mind when bringing groceries especially if you have a larger group with you. Again, fine for us, but we did almost max it out. Keep in mind that there are double beds here as noted in the house description. Again, fine for us, but if you have a big and tall person with you, it may be a bit cramped.
We truly enjoyed waking up each morning to the quietness and having our coffee down on the dock or the deck. We made use of the inflatable lake toys and kayaks. Only takes about 20 mins to paddle to the other end of the lake where you will find wonderful solitude and we even saw a river otter and bald eagles.
Morton and Furbish are terrific to deal with and always there quickly to answer a question!
Loon Lake Cabin is just right for those who enjoy little boats. The canoes, kayaks and stand up paddle board (as well as the chairs on the dock) make this property a joy. The cabin itself is terrific and well supplied. Pictures are not shown of the kitchen because it is not as nice as the rest of the property but still quite functional. Morton & Furbish could not have handled everything any better. They were always friendly and helpful. The pricing was higher than one would expect except for desirability during the pandemic.
The water front and water equip were fabulous. The dock was awesome. Beautiful grounds. The steps down to the dock were a bit precarious.
Inside ok. The couch is falling apart and kitchen table is not too steady. The freezer was in bad need of defrosting. The frig itself is vintage. Perhaps the freezer should be checked every two weeks. The sleeping accommodations were good. I was glad to see stairs to the loft instead of a ladder The âbrand new showerâ was without support bars or shelves for soap etc. but plenty of hot water. The faucet of the shower was very different and difficult to figure out .
I would like to rent it again same time next year for the first two weeks in July.
I could do without the stuffed weasel on the fire place. Why would anyone stuff a weasel or any animal for that matter but that's Maine for ya. đ
When we arrived, we'd hoped to catch a glimpse of the Loon...perhaps even hear one of its beautiful calls.
Boy, were we ever rewarded! We saw them all week. And their haunting calls lulled us to sleep at night.
Magical!
What a beautiful, tranquil setting Loon Lake Cabin is. Lovely place to unwind. Very nice accommodations. Relax, swim, watch the kids (and the dog) swim or just sit by the lake at dusk and listen to the...
Quiet...
Peace and quiet...
The deck was my wife's favorite afternoon spot.
And we saw moose!! (We've lived in Maine over 8 years now and until our trip 3.25 hours north to Loon lake, we'd never seen one here in Maine.
The canoeing and kayaking were wonderful too!
Our boys and our entire family made beautiful memories here, which we will carry with us always.
We most certainly would love to return.
Beautiful cozy cabin, amazing lake view, the cabin is well equipped with all you need for your stay, we had a great time! We would love to go back đ
The only issue was the furniture, living room couch and chairs were not comfortable at all, very old, table chair too and the beds were very hard, I travel with my family, and is important for me to be comfortable to be able to relax!
Overall, everything as described!
Will love to go back once furniture is upgrade!
Not as expected. Very small. The furniture is very old and uncomfortable. The kitchen was not well stocked. Had an antique can opener, no large bowls to make a salad or serve, no pot holders. The refrigerator is extremely small. The kayaks are child size & would have brought our own if we new. The doors to get to the deck were messed up and spent a lot of time trying to get out. The dock is in need of updating. The grill is awful. It's small and the grates sit on top of the burner. The only saving grace was the fireplace. I've been staying in Rangeley at different places for over 10 year. This was my worst experience yet! Do not recommend and if you do it's too small for 4 adults. The guys kept banging there heads off the hanging light in the exude for a kitchen.
We have stayed at other cabins on Loon Lake before and have always been thrilled. The lake does not allow motorized boats, and is so peaceful because of that. Hearing and seeing the loons is one of the greatest joys we could have. That was no different this year - except for the fact that the cabin next door (very close to this one) was under construction with 2 workers and machines going nonstop 9-5 Mon - Fri. Understandably, the real estate agency may not have known of this and could not have prevented it. Just bad luck. What could be prevented is the poorly equipped Loon Lake cabin. Both doors have storm doors that were not attached by springs and kept slamming all the time. The screens on the windows were ripped and we needed to tape them. Every piece of furniture in the house, on the deck and even on the dock was uncomfortable or in need of repair. The bottom sheets did not fit the bed and kept coming off. The kitchen had no bowls - not a salad bowl, no mixing bowls, no serving bowls - and was lacking in other kitchen items - no grater, no mixer. There was only 1 extra garbage bag in the house. Maybe everything was more noticeable because we had a few rainy days and were at the cabin more often than we might have been had it been more sunny, but I still would not recommend this cabin until changes have been made to make it more comfortable.
Friendly and responsive property management team. Location was stunning...a beautiful, pristine, quiet lake (no motorboats allowed). The cabin was clean and tidy, with a nice porch deck. We definitely hope to come back!
Beautiful location, cottage is very comfortable and relaxing, includes all the outdoor equipment you need to enjoy the lake, grilling, and lounging. Great experience!
We had a wonderful stay. Kitchen was very well equipped. The lake is very private and great for swimming. We had one issue with a door not closing properly and Maintenance was on site within the hour! Our family enjoyed the kayaks and fire pit too. Thank you for the great memories.
Fantastic and beautiful location, everything you need for an amazing vacation!! The owners have thought of it all!! Perfect spot to create family memories, I know I just did!!!
Everything you need for a week on the lake in the deep Maine woods. Moose sighting, beautiful view, great restaurants and activities for the whole family in Rangeley. Plus the beautiful sounds of loons each night. Loon lake is a treasure.
Absolutely perfect in every way! The owners have done a fabulous job making sure that everything is readily accessible (kayaks, canoe, life jackets, games, floats, outside fire pit, etc.). Inside the home is a stone fireplace and newly updated bathroom...simply gorgeous! Loon Lake is peaceful and beautiful and, of course, there were many loon (and moose) sightings! The cabin is an easy 15 minute drive to the town of Rangeley...which was perfect! The cabin's location is remote, yet close enough to a local grocery store, restaurants, shopping, hiking trails, waterfalls, and sightseeing. We are so happy to have found this gem!
This cabin is the perfect place to get away. The space is well maintained and neat. The owners are very generous in offering ample supplies in case you forgot something while packing. The view is breathtaking and the surroundings are unreal. From fishing and hiking to relaxing near the campfire, we enjoyed our entire stay!
