This is a beautiful and comfortable home. It couldn't have been better. Communication was great. We loved the location, close to town, yet nestled in the mountains. On the way back to the VRBO one day, we got to watch a momma black bear and her 3 cubs for about 10 minutes(from the car). Thank you for our wonderful accommodation.
The Hermitage exceeeded our expectations in oh so many ways!A quiet and serene setting with ever changing vistas from the back porch it was the perfect home to relax and recharge. We hated to leave and look forward to returning.
Had a wonderful stay at this cute home with spectacular views just outside of Highlands.
It was clean and cozy and had everything you need.
It is tucked away in a very cute, hillside neighborhood, great for walking.
Close to hiking trails and downtown Highland.
We would stay here again for sure.
We spent 10 days in The Hermitage and hated to leave. This home is close enough to town yet is nestled in the mountains with a fabulous view. Itâs a quick drive into town on winding roads that require caution. We loved sitting on the large, comfortable screened back porch as the sun rose looking out over the misty valley and mountains. We filled the bird feeder and watched a wide variety of birds come to visit. The house had everything we needed and was comfortable. The portable AC units are loud but luckily we didnât need them. Itâs a great neighborhood for walking, too. We will be back!
Had a wonderful birthday trip. The house was cozy. We loved the screened in porch and grilled out every night. Sat around the fire pit one night. Location was very convenient.
My wife and I greatly enjoyed our 2 week stay at "The Hermitage Cottage", which is actually a large home on the outskirts of Highlands, NC.
It was spotlessly clean when we arrived, and is very spacious with a California King size bed in the master bedroom, (very comfortable) as well as several other large beds, and two bunk beds for kids.
The kitchen has the most modern appliances, and is well stocked with dishes, cookware, utensils, etc.
It's just a 10 minute drive from downtown Highlands, so it's very convenient for stores, shops, and restaurants.
It's located part-way up a small mountain side, but access is easy with all paved roads. They are a bit narrow and steep, but you quickly get used to the drive.
The home has a garage where you can pull a vehicle in and close the garage door at night. That makes loading and unloading luggage and other items easy and convenient.
The scenery around the home is beautiful, with mountain views looking out the back, and a forested road looking out the front.
We took day trips around the area for shopping, meals out, and photography, and had a great time.
I would highly recommend this rental home to anyone who enjoys the mountains and color of North Carolina!
Exactly as advertised. Well-designed, solidly built, warm house that easily accommodated 6 adults in a beautiful area of North Carolina. Weather was a bit chilly to sit out on the perfect screened porch with long-range views, so we moved our cocktails to the fire pit and soaked in the fall color.
This is a lovely home. Comfortable beds and a wonderful view of the mountains. The house is about 5 minutes from Main Street or 20 from Cashiers. The only negative is the AC isn't central air. They have free-standing units in every room. They work well, but are very loud.
Home was lovely! Everyone had enough space for private time, tv time, outdoor time, views, fireplaces indoors and outdoors, all the things I wanted!! Plus had extras of convenient items like keurig coffee pods and some paper products!!
Great service too!! Highly recommend!
We enjoyed the home immensely and the property management company (especially Holly at Galax Rentals - thank you). Itâs a great setting with with well appointed bedrooms, kitchen, living room and porch. Use of the garage also makes it easy to turn around even large SUVs in case the other front parking space is in use by guests.
Great view in a Peaceful, Perfect Location Minutes from Downtown Highlands
My family and I love Highlands but typically stay in neighboring areas for the better views. This property had it all. It was bright and well decorated with plenty of room to spread out. We had everything we needed. The towels were abundant, thick, and luxurious. The beds were super comfortable. Perfect for resting from long days of hiking and sightseeing. The kitchen had great non stick pots, a waffle maker, and all the cooking and baking tools you could need. As an added bonus, it was well stocked with condiments, herbs and spices. And the view was so beautiful, especially in the morning at sunrise. Best of all, it took only 6 minutes to get to Main Street Highlands for great dining and shopping. This is the only place I want to stay when I come back to Highlands.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely home. It was fresh and clean, well-appointed and well-equipped as far as towels, extra blankets, and the kitchen had everything we need. It is sunny and bright with a nice view, and cosy at night. You cannot beat its location-close to town, waterfalls, the museum, etc. Property managers are very communicative and helpful. We would absolutely stay here again.
