Good but not great
A well-presented and well-equipped place, but not actually very dog friendly as they are asked to stay in the backyard (one side of the fencing isn't dog-proof though) and sleep in the laundry (which is detached from the house).
Not a good place for couples if you want privacy as Carol likes to come by and 'check in'.
Breakfast goodies were supplied which was a nice touch.
Country bakehouse Accommodation is the ideal place to stay in the Mid North of SA. It is full of History & has so much character. Very clean & comfortable, so relaxing & everything supplied, even some lovely breakfast provisions. Very central to all the lovely mid north towns for antique hunting & coffee shops.
Very comfortable cottage. Was cosy and had plenty of room. Adjacent to the hotel and local store. We enjoyed our stay.
Thank you for choosing to stay in our Country bakehouse Accommodation.
I always enjoy having Heysen Trail walkers. It often worries me to open up the Baker's shop 3rd bedroom in Winter when the weather is cold so I am happy that you all enjoyed having the extra space & kept cosy & comfortable. The front bedrooms have the bonus of being warmed up by the Winter afternoon sunshine later in the day & it's a nice spot to sit & have a coffee or wine rather than outside on the veranda. It is a very convenient place to stay being situated just a short walk from the Spalding Country Hotel & Store & I hope you enjoyed that Burra Bakery Sourdough bread for your breakfast.
Well preserved historic residence
The country Bakehouse Accomodation in Spalding makes for a very comfortable base to explore the mid-north or walk some of the Heysen Trail. Scrupulously clean, warm and well appointed, the country Bakehouse is great to come home to after being out and about. The "little extras" included a bread & cheese platter, fruit, generous sized soap, fluffy towels and comfy beds. The historic character of the building are evident in its sympathetic restoration, carefully recorded in a photo album by the owner Carol.
Thank you for such a thorough review. I certainly am pleased that you felt comfortable at my Country bakehouse. I like to make sure that guests receive some home comforts. The cold frosty nights have been a problem this Winter but I'm told by some guests that they enjoy the cooler months & are quite happy with the air conditioning & heaters we supply. I must admit I love to take a nice hot bath in the cold of Winter. Will look forward to meeting up with you again Helen.
Enjoyed our stay greatly.
Beautiful old home. Tastefully furnished and very comfortable. Able to accommodate families large and small. Wake to birdsong.
Really enjoyed having your family stay at Country bakehouse Jan. It was great to have a talk & get to know you. Thank you for making the time to leave the house so clean & tidy. You didn't have to strip the beds but it was appreciated. I'm sorry the hot weather came in so suddenly on your final day. Hope to have you stay another time Jan.
Great place to wind down
This was excellent accommodation for an Easter wind-down with friends. It is ideally situated to explore the region and Carol had prepared the house immaculately. The history walk around Spalding was very interesting also.
Thank you for your favourable review. I like to present our character residence to its best to give my guests a comfortable relaxed stay. Although Country bakehouse accommodation is so ideally situated to share the best hidden secrets of the Mid North, I often feel short changed by being in such a small town without several options for guests to dine out. Fortunately we have the Barbed Hotel across the road for meals, Thurs - Sun. and a friendly grocery store open 7 days for coffee, breakfast food & lunches as well as the many high quality venues throughout the Clare Valley just 36 Km. south. Our own Broughton River attracts tourists with some amazing views and a trout or two for keen fishermen.
