Overall development property and grounds very nice, great location in center of Algrave region with golf and fabulous beach. This unit is located next to the Pine Cliffs entry gate second floor with no view and no elevator. Steps were covered with bird droppings. Pine trees drop heavy sap covering the parked cars. The unit itself was dated, and on arrival we were greeted with a bucket & mop left in the entry hall. The dishwasher was filled with dishes not put away, and we found at least one very dirty wine glass left in the cabinet. The entry door left lock & latch was loose and rattled all night if the wind blew. Owners canceled our advanced paid in full reservation the day before arrival because they said they had not heard from us. Our last communication the week before confirmed our arrival for our paid reservation. Our communication verified we would provide all required passport numbers and personal information immediately on arrival as with all other VRBO rentals. However, the owners, not using the Property management services of the Pine Cliffs development were insisting we send this information in advance over the internet which we were not comfortable doing and was not necessary until our arrival. The last minute unjustified cancelation was only corrected at the last minute by contacting VRBO who intervened. Additionally, the owner in their cancellation notice indicated they had refunded our full payment, but in fact admitted to VRBO that they had only refunded our security and cleaning deposit, not the actual prepaid rental fees. We provided the owner with several detailed communications following our payments and verified arrival plans. Yet the owner in canceling us stated we had not confirmed our arrival. VRBO staff, after reviewing the communications available on the reservation, informed the owner that they could see our clear responses indicating our confirmation to make use of our paid reservation and our agreement to provide passport and other information, and could not understand the cancelation. Only then did the owner agree to honor our paid stay at the condo, but even with the written evidence on file, still blamed us as non responsive as the reason for cancelation. We can not recommend this particular condo and would not return. We would however recommend using the Marriott property management rentals which are updated units with nicer locations inside the overall development!
