Providing a peaceful yet highly convenient base in the heart of Old Town Varenna, this modernised duplex apartment is ideal for 2 couples or small groups of up to 4 guests. With lake views, a bright contemporary interior and access to a charming communal terrace, it offers a relaxed Lake Como escape just moments from cafés, restaurants and ferry links. A car is not necessary, making it perfect for those arriving by train or ferry.

The apartment features a bright open-plan living area furnished with a fabric sofa, flat-screen SAT TV and side tables. The space flows into a contemporary kitchen diner for four, creating a welcoming setting for relaxed evenings in.

The modern kitchen is fully equipped with a cooker hob, oven, microwave, electric kettle, toaster, coffee machine and fridge. Guests also enjoy access to a shared lake-view terrace furnished with a bistro dining set — perfect for alfresco meals overlooking Varenna’s historic rooftops and shoreline.

Delightful Location

This is right in the heart of Varenna. The apartment is quaint and comfortable. I would recommend a 2nd floor unit if you want more day light though. The only feed back on the apartment I would suggest is a new couch.

Beautiful little apartment, the living/kitchen area actually ended up being more spacious than the photos lead you to expect which was nice. Having the small washing machine for clothes was wonderful as well. Only small critique is there weren’t extra pillow cases to use on the extra pillows that were in the basket in our bedroom (only one pillow on each bed) and my husband is a multi-pillow sleeper! The kitchen is fully stocked, there’s laundry equipment, and they even have a greeting bottle of rosé for you upon arrival. If you follow the arrival instructions/photos it really isn’t difficult to find the entrance/check-in, but it is a bit of a hike from the train station so be prepared if you’ve got lots of luggage. Overall would recommend and stay again.

Amazing location

We really loved the location. There was a spot where we could look over the lake and listen to the music below. Communication was very difficult. I'd contact one person and the new person said I needed to contact the original person and the issues were never resolved. For example, the dishwasher did not work.

We had 4 adults, Slept the first night very uncomfortable due to one of the fans not working, ran out of toilet paper by the second day. No one answered the phone when we were trying to get into the property, we tried 3 numbers given. Should provide at least coffee for the am.

First time to Italy

The apartment was clean and more spacious than I expected, perfect for my son and I, but could easily accommodate 4 people. Check in directions were precise and the area felt safe. Perfect location for walking access to restaurants and shops. I would recommend this company and I would stay at this location again. Surprisingly, there were no paper towels or dish cloths for the kitchen (this may be normal for Italy accommodation), and only one roll of bathroom tissue (which was sufficient for our 2-night stay, but utilized also for kitchen spills).

Hard to find/ No wi-fi

Properly difficile to locate. An id on the mailbox would have helped. We walked past it 3 times. The wifi was out for 4 days before we arrived with no attempts to repair it. The step up into bedrooms was dangerous and maybe should have a yellow hazard strip like in USA. No amenities like coffee pods, paper towels.

Great location, but tired apartment

Photo's are a little out of date, however apartment is great size in a good location. On arrival we were missing bed linen and towels, and chat with the manager was slow. In the end replacements were sent. Areas of the apartment were very dusty, shower drainage was slow, and sofa was stained. Probably due to end of season, but more attention to detail would be great.

Varenna est le village le plus charmant du lac de Côme. Perché sur la montagne et au bord du lac c'est la destination idéale pour visiter Bellagio et Menaggio. Faire des randonnées en montagne et se baigner dans le lac. L'appartement présente tout l'équipement nécessaire pour passer un bond séjour. Situé au rdc, il a l'avantage de rester frais quand vous fermez les volets la journée en été. De nuit nous laissions les fenêtres ouvertes avec les persiennes fermées dans les chambres. L'immeuble a un parking de 5 places adapté au voiture moyenne (les grosses ne passent pas dans la rue) et une terrasse partagée avec une très belle vue sur le port. C'est une terrasse très agréable pour prendre l'apéro, ou dîner en fin de journée avec le couché du soleil. L'agence qui gère le logement est très réactive et disponible. En contrebas, le logement est au 1er étage d'un restaurant avec une belle terrasse calme à l'ombre des pins. C'est une des meilleurs tables de Varenna. Pour l'agence: le mobilier de terrasse dépareillé et endommagé n'est pas à l'image du reste des prestations, il mériterait d'être entièrement remplacé.

Nous avons adoré Varenna .C'est une petite merveille sur le lac de Côme !

La propriété était bien fonctionnelle.Par contre le ménage n'avait pas été fait dans les chambres et l'èquipement succint (un seul torchon et aucune tasse à expresso)Les matelas des lits étaient confortables et propres .Par contre Il n'y avait aucun protège matelas.La propriété est trés bien situé dans le centre de Varenna et on a pu se promener à satiété le long du lac et des restaurants .

The apartment was a delight, overlooking a “courtyard” with limited views of the lake, incorporating the major walkway along the lakeside to the ferry landing (5-10 minute walk). There was a good restaurant right beneath the apartment. Access to the rooms was straightforward and secure. The central square was about a block away, The train station was within walking distance for the young. Older folks should book a return ride upon arriving; go to the tourist office if necessary for great help. Cell phone taxi app didn’t work for us in Varenna.

Clean house in Varena with modern amenities

Nice clean home. Close to everything, the water and cruise stop and all the restaurants are very close by. Varenna is beautiful so much better than Como and so easily accessible to Bellagio and all other beautiful spots. Couple of minor issues, the TV was missing a connection wire so did not work until the last day when maintenance guy came and gave the wire. Also the microwave adapter was not there so it was an inconvenience that I couldn’t use it. I notified the house manager, but it was not addressed till a day and half after, so in a 3 day stay, we couldn’t use the microwave most of the time. I am sure these are east issues that house maintenance can resolve right away. No view from the house, just a small glimpse of the lake, which I knew before going, would have been fantastic to have a view. Overall nice clean home to make your stay comfortable.

Good location but tough to find

Overall nice property. One point of concern. The address does not show up on Google Maps or Apple Maps. They spend an extraordinary time explaining how to get into the property but not enough information as to the location of the property. My suggestion is that you just search for "Al Prato Restaurant" Go there as the apartment is in the same building in the back.

June 2018 Excellent, central location in Varenna. Easy to get anywhere in town from Piazza di Prato. Varenna is a beautiful alternative to Bellagio. We went over to Bellagio for a couple of day visits, easy 10 minute ferry ride, nice to come back to the relative quiet of Varenna, beautiful and serene. Bruce, UK

Apartment description does not accurately reflect real situation. The view of Lake Como from the living room is actually only a glimpse through a gap between two buildings standing in front of this building. And only possible when you stand directly at the window. The unit actually sits partially below ground level making the windows useless for ventilation in the bedrooms and bath due to privacy. The apartment sits directly on top of a restaurant so very noisy during afternoons and evenings. Side window in living room faces a main walking corridor where people walking by can look in and also noisy when they are walking by. The common terrace area is only steps outside the apartment. It offers a spectacular view of the lake and town. We had it completely to ourselves during our 1 week stay. Unfortunately the table was broken and so were a couple of the chairs. Everything was also extremely dirty. It was obvious that neither the landlord nor the rental company gave it any attention at all. We brought up another table sitting in the courtyard, cleaned everything up as best we could and made use of the spot almost every day. TV did not work when we arrived. Found that the remote control was missing a battery. Purchased two batteries next day and fixed the problem myself. Unit was in otherwise decent condition. Location close to central town and ferry docks was excellent. We would not rent this unit again. There are a number of better rentals in Varenna which offer full panoramic views of the lake. This is one of the main reasons to come to Lake Como. The problem in Varenna is finding vacancies. We booked months in advance and at least with VRBO options felt this was our best choice at the time.

Hello, Thank you for your in depth feed back about Casa a Prato B. This is a centrally located apartment in a historical building. In any old building, you are going to have a different type of design, than modern day living. This is the charm of it. We have so many returning guests staying in our Casa al Prato apartments because they adore the charm and convenience to the town. We are of course sorry that the building design didn't suit you. There is of course no excuse for the lack of cleanliness and maintenance. We really rely on our local office and team to adhere to high standards and unfortunately, this wasn't reflected for you. I will be sending your comments to the local team so they can rectify these issues and speak with the cleaning team. If you called us the moment you arrived, we would have sent new cleaners or offered to move you to another home. We thank you for your comments which always help us.
