We had an excellent stay at Hope Cottage. We stayed with friends and there was ample room for six adults. The kitchen was well equipped with everything needed for some home cooking, as an alternative there are two good pubs within walking distance, both of which good value and tasty food.
We had a wonderful time at Hope Cottage. It is a charming cottage wel equipped, spacious and tastefully decorated.
Good situated with a pub in the neighbourhood that serves delicious food.
Highly recommended!
We had a super stay at hope cottage. Itâs very spacious and beautifully laid out, with a lovely garden.
The location is a little bit remote, as in itâs a long drive to anywhere!
Hope Cottage is a lovely cosy, comfortable cottage near a pretty village. Some of the shrubs at the entrance could do with being cut back as they obstructed a clear view of the road when driving out. It would be useful if there was a standard welcome pack, especially when there is no shop in the village. We stayed in one of your cottages in Dorset a few months ago and there was a full hamper of lovely food. The pub in the village was excellent.
Stayed here for a week with 3 generations and we had a lovely time. The cottage is big, comfortable and as well equipped as any that I have stayed in, with pretty much everything that you could need in the kitchen (including empty cupboards for food, which is rare) and an endless supply of logs, kindling and lighters for the open fire.
The location is very remote, with a 10 minute drive to find a white line in the road which means that even nearby places take a while to get to and from, but with that comes peace and quiet which is what we were looking for.
We (3 couples) had a great 4 night stay at Hope Cottage. The cottage was lovely, spacious, comfortable & very well equipped, and with a nice garden to sit out in. It was lovely to do good walks straight from the door. Quenington is a beautiful village and we can recommend The Keepers Arms where we had an excellent Sunday lunch.
All in all, an excellent holiday!
We had a lovely stay at Hope Cottage over Christmas 2023 with 6 adults and a baby. The house is very well equipped and beautifully decorated throughout, we appreciated the extra Christmas decorations too. The living room is cosy with a log burner and comfortable chairs for us all and the kitchen diner is spacious. Would definitely come back.
We love the layout and comfort of the property. Although it was wet and cold out, inside when we had lit the woodburner it was perfect.
I had forgotten about rush-hour traffic from 7am, not something I am used to in my own home.
Lovely well maintained well equip cottage with everything you could need. Out of the village but made it even more peaceful and stunning small garden. Short walk to the local pub with hearty food although best walking in daylight due to dark bendy lanes. Other great walks nearby. Only downside was log fire - very smokey even with specific instructions. We will definitely consider returning.
A very comfortable cottage for a family stay. Snug in kitchen/ diner worked really well. Lucky enough to be able to sit out in attractive garden. Several walks nearby and pub in village was very welcoming with good food.
The cottage was easy to find and well located on the edge of Quenington. Inside the overall impression was good : kitchen is light and generally well equipped (no extraction fan over hob) with a cosy sitting area. The main sitting room seats four comfortably- bit of a squeeze if more in the party. Main bedroom with en-suite shower good, bedding was fresh and plenty of storage. The other two bedrooms were twin bedded, one more suitable to children as beds are narrow and the room is small.
On the negative side:
Mattresses and pillows could do with replacing.
There wasnât any tea or coffee or welcome biscuits etc when we arrived, housekeeping delivered these by early evening.
There was absolutely no information about the immediate local area. It was all generic Cotswold information in the folder with nearest recommended places being in Bourton. Surely the company should be supporting local business - there are great pubs in the village and in neighbouring Coln St Aldwyn where there is also an excellent community shop. We found a lovely walk starting from the house, signposted by Cook Trust - again no information in the house.
Finally, I am very concerned about the temperature of the hot water coming off the combi boiler. It is scaldingly hot and could be real hazard. The temperature on the boiler needs turning down - something which would help on the energy usage too.
Delightful and cosy cottage, perfectly located for Cotswolds/Oxford exploration and relaxation
We had an excellent stay at Hope Cottage and would highly recommend it to anyone considering it! Don't hesitate! The owners clearly love and take good care of their home - every amenity is provided and the furnishings are cosy and comfortable.
It is a perfectly convenient yet secluded home base for exploring the Cotswolds. The local pub, the Keeper's Inn, is gorgeous and has great food only a 15 minute walk through the greenery. We loved spending our days close to home or in some of the local towns, returning to a crackling fire, peaceful garden, and quiet night's rest.
A couple of things to note from our visit. There were some aspects of maintenance that had been overlooked for a little too long e.g. one of the bath/shower tubs was slow to drain, the hot water kettle was completely covered with limescale. We also noted a fuel-type smell coming from the boiler shortly after arrival. Cotswolds Hideaways was exceptionally quick at coming back to us on a weekend to send the owners to check the boiler while we were out, but we never heard anything after that point, so can only assume they decided all was well. As is the case in stone cottages, there is no phone signal, but there is good wifi and a landline phone if needed.
Despite these minor things, we loved our stay and would recommend wholeheartedly.
Stayed at Hope Cottage during Cheltenham Festival week. Every aspect of our stay was just about perfect.
The cottage is located a short walk from Quenington on a quiet country road. It is very well equipped and laid out and well furnished. The owners have clearly gone to a great deal of trouble and I could easily have stayed longer and would happily pay a return visit.
My only gripe is a minor one and relates to the "welcome package" of food items that waited our arrival. This comprised a 1 litre bottle of full fat milk and a large cake. Not particularly welcoming, not very imaginative and not very useful.
One of the best cottages we have stayed in. We had a wonderful week in this fabulous cottage, which is in an idyllic setting in a quiet village. The cottage is well laid out and beautifully furnished. Extremely well equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing break. Lots of lovely local walks and well placed to explore the gorgeous Cotswold countryside, Blenheim Palace and Oxford. Great pubs in the village and nearby Colin. Absolutely perfect. We loved this cottage and highly recommend it.
We had a fabulous stay at wonderful Hope Cottage. Tastefully decorated and really well appointed, this spotlessly clean cottage is really well situated for exploring the Cotswolds. Cosy and spacious, it provided our family with everything we needed. We highly recommend this property.
Hope Cottage is an adorable property. Beautifully decorated with such attention to detail. We fell in love the minute we walked in the door. It was well stocked with everything you could possibly need. We loved the location. There were 6 of us and we all felt there was enough space to not get in each otherâs way.
The only negative was we found it a little cold; perhaps it was the tiled flooring & no central heating. The wall heaters were lovely but just didnât seem to warm the house up.
Minor issue we could not work the oven & had difficulty with the induction; even after reading the manual.
None of these issues would stop us from staying there again.
Lovely cottage and good location. The only disappointment was that there was no welcome hamper on arrival as stated in the property description. It even says donât worry if you forget breakfast essentials as you can rely in the hamper. All of the other previous guests received their hampers as they all liked to rave about them in the guest book. Weâre not bitter though...
We were truly impressed by the quality of the accommodation at Hope Cottage. The house has been extremely well restored and everything is in perfect condition. We felt at ease and very much at home there. We have absolutely nothing to question or criticize. Ah yes, a blender would be welcome addition in the kitchen!!!
I don't recall having much in the way of an exchange with the property manager, but that maybe because I have simply forgotten!!!
To conclude: Thank you for everything.

Very good facilities. Rural setting but an excellent pub called Keepers which was fabulous. Great food and super staff. No need to travel into Burford!
Having regularly used another provider for booking self catering accommodation I was unsure how Cotswolds Hideaways would stand up to the competition - I need not have worried, everything about the process was excellent; Hope Cottage was first class, I would most definitely book this accommodation again - only one complaint - a wasps nest somewhere around the main bedroom caused some issues when wasps were appearing in the room in the early hours, even with the windows closed!
